PEACE LEGENDS JOIN FORCES WITH YOUNG GLOBAL INFLUENCERS IN A MOVEMENT FOR PEACE, HUMAN SECURITY, AND CLIMATE ACTION, AS TIMES SQUARE IN NEW YORK CITY PAUSES FOR PEACE.

DATE & TIME: SEPTEMBER 21, 2023 LIVE BROADCAST STARTED AT 12:00PM EDT VIA UNIFY at www.facebook.com/UNIFY and www.youtube.com/goodnewsbroadcast. The website for the event is: www.pausetheworldforpeace.org

On September 21st, 2023 on the UN International Day of Peace, the 21st. Annual Pause The World for Peace Broadcast, both in-person and global virtual audiences experienced the first ever 100% solar-powered concert in Times Square for peace and ecology, powered by multi-faceted musical artist and climate activist AY Young and his Battery Tour. Also featured is mental tranquility advocate and acclaimed singer Michel Pascal, who was joined by US Presidential Candidate, author, and activist Marianne Williamson and Myron McKinley of Earth, Wind, & Fire. As a part of the larger six-hour Peace Day event, this concert shared virtual messages from legacy peacekeepers like Ringo Starr, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Douglas, Jane Goodall, Sir Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Deepak Chopra, Joe Dispenza, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, and Shakira. The nonprofit event producer Good News Corporation has partnered with OMMM, UNIFY, WE.net, AY Young, Battery Tour, SmartFlower, Playa Betty’s, 5 Star Diamond Award, Samsung, GM, BNP Paribas, Hugg-A Planet, New York Parks and Recreation, and Times Square Alliance.

Reverend Paul Sladkus, All Faiths, and Spiritual and Executive Producer for 21 years in Central Park, NY, Times Square, NY, and worldwide stated, “ This year’s participation exceeded our expectation to strengthen the message of International Peace, along with showing our love for MOTHER EARTH. Here are the links for the three parts, approx. 2 hours each. We are in negotiation for additional broadcast because Pausing the World for Peace is always needed”

https://pausetheworldforpeace.org/2023/11/02/part-1-pause-the-world-for-peace-2023/

https://pausetheworldforpeace.org/2023/11/02/part-2-pause-the-world-for-love-2023/

https://pausetheworldforpeace.org/2023/11/09/part-3-pause-the-world-for-hope-2023/

The Battery Tour’s involvement in the Pause the World for Peace event was highly intentional. On a mission to break barriers and build bridges, AY Young was appointed by the United Nations as the Global Youth Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals in 2020, Generation 17 Youth Ambassador, and SDG Champion. AY has performed over 800 concerts powered entirely by the Battery Tour’s renewable energy. “We are all outlets for change,” says the artist. And driving positive change was a major theme between Pause the World for Peace event collaborators.

Michel Pascal led a dance meditation and musical performance, seamlessly combining the serenity of meditation, and the joy of dance, promising a unique and transformative experience. Pascal, is co-founder of OMMM which is a movement to create a positive impact on individuals and communities worldwide through the practice of meditation, music, and multimedia content. Pascal, A.K.A “The Medicine Voice,” has been performing at Carnegie Hall since 2016, while working closely with marginalized communities, including prisoners and veterans. The concert featured a bilingual meditation guided by Juliana Klinkert, an esteemed meditation teacher known for her work at the Amity Foundation and in Hispanic communities.

Young and Pascal, along with the generations they represent, continue a wave of peace work built on the foundations of champions of peace like David Gershon (led 1986 Earth Run Torch of Peace), Ben Bowler (founder of UNITY Earth bringing cease-fires for peace), his eminence Shyalpa Rinpoche (currently building Universal Peace Sanctuary at UNESCO World Heritage Site for Peace), Jonathan Granoff (World Academy of Art & Science Fellow and UN Ambassador to the Nobel Peace Laureates), and Jeremy Gilley (founder of Peace One Day with Sir Paul McCartney message). They, like others both in New York and nationally, including Michael Fitzpatrick (25-year cellist to the Dalai Lama), Rick Ulfic & Andrew Kaen (established 11 Days of Global Unity), Reverend Susana Bastarrica & James Cannings (founded Vigil for International Day of Peace), and Reverend Deborah Muldow & Fumi Johns (of May Peace Prevail on Earth with 250,000 Peace Poles worldwide), Peace Lights Peter Rogina, have dedicated their lives to empowering communities, fostering cooperation, and addressing global challenges with social innovations. Seeds planted decades ago are breaking ground as a new surge of activism takes shape in a post-pandemic society ready for collaborative action.

The Pause the World for Peace event included a special segment entitled “Peace in Action” with renowned representatives sharing the latest in major global issues, including domestic violence, school safety, human rights, human security, animal rights, climate action, and ending violence in health, politics, and religion, regardless of gender, race, or disability, promoting practical paths to a thriving life for all. A special military and police tribute for fallen heroes was featured.

The Pause the World for Peace event, set in the Duffy Square section of Times Square, NY, is hosted by the Good News Corporation, whose founder Reverend Paul Sladkus has continued to be a leader in rallying movements for peace in action. Sladkus, who is an ordained all-faith minister, implores, “193 countries in the UN unanimously agreed to a CEASE FIRE EVERYWHERE, ACTS OF PEACE & LOVE, and WE CAN DO IT. We listened to Ringo Starr at 12:00 pm Noon ET as he requested a Worldwide Moment of Silence for PEACE, from Times Square, virtually on September 21, 2023, and we prayed to keep that moment going for peace and ecology to last FOREVER.”

The event ran until 5:00PM EDT and aired to the world via UNIFY (received 2 billion views with the UN for Peace Day in 2017), which broadcasted the program to their combined partner audience of millions worldwide. McKinsey Co. stated that there are 1.6 billion people worldwide already aware of the International Day of Peace. Pause the World for Peace aimed to amplify the urgent need for collective action and global cooperation. Together, we stand in solidarity to promote peace, human security, and climate action for a better and brighter future for all.

OPERATION WARRIOR SHIELD delivers their first two (2) companion dogs.
Brooklyn, NY.—OWS announced today that they have delivered their first two (2) companion dogs to two (2) Marines who were seriously wounded from the Iraq/Afghanistan war…

In partnership with Doris Day Animal Foundation, Hope For Heroes and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, OWS’ goal is providing uniquely trained, loving and supportive canine companions to veterans, first responders and their families who live with physical and emotional injuries sustained in the line of duty.

The 1966 Marine Vietnam Veteran, CMSgt (Ret.) Edward Schloeman, President and CEO of Operation Warrior Shield stated: “Our companion dogs unconditionally bring a sense of safety, camaraderie, and most importantly, a special emotional support that helps minimize stress and challenges that our heroes face each and every day.”

“Our goal is to provide uniquely trained, loving and supportive canine companions to veterans and first responders and their families who live with physical and emotional injuries incurred in the line of duty,” explains Schloeman. “Our companion dogs unconditionally bring a sense of safety, camaraderie, and most importantly, a special emotional support that helps reduce the stresses and challenges that our heroes face each and every day.”
The Labrador retriever puppies are YELLIN and LOUIE. One is named “Yellin” (after the late WWII pilot and OWS co-founder, Jerry Yellin) and the other is “Louie” (named after the late 106-year old WWII veteran, Louis Forte).

Both dogs were trained by Hope for Heroes dog trainers, Mitch Serlin and Matt Notaro. “We start with 8 week old puppies, and socialize them with various stimuli such as traffic, loud sounds, crowds, public transportation, and the like, keeping in mind the specific lifestyle and activities of the recipient vet and family,” explains Serlin. “Then we set up a bonding period for the puppy and family.

Matt delivered Yellin to Marine Sgt. David Tupper, and his family, at their home in North Carolina and Mitch delivered Louie to Marine Sgt. Carlos Figueroa in his home in Texas.

OWS’ next project is a fund raiser at the Palm Beach Gardens PGA National Golf Course with golf legend Chi Chi Rodriguez, on April 2nd
2022. Please contact Ed for additional information.

If anyone wishes to support our programs, they can donate online at www.operationwarriorshield.com or mail a check to:

Operation Warrior Shields’ (OWS) Healing for Heroes Gala was held at the Water Club on November 18, 2021. It was one of the first Galas in Manhattan since the pandemic began. It was a magical evening with an almost full moon hanging in the sky over the well known Water Club. Friends and supporters came to celebrate OWS’s efforts to fund training of Canine Companions for veterans and law enforcement officials impacted by PTSD.

In partnership with Hope For Heroes and the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, OWS’ goal
is providing uniquely trained, loving and supportive canine companions to veterans, first responders and their families who live with physical and emotional injuries sustained in the line of duty.
1966 Vietnam CMSgt (Ret.) Edward Schloeman, President and CEO of Operation Warrior Shield stated:“Our companion dogs unconditionally bring a sense of safety, camaraderie, and most importantly, a special emotional support that helps minimize stress and challenges that our heroes face each and every day.”

CMSgt Ed Schloeman opened the evening thanking everyone:
“We are here tonight to show support for America’s Heroes: The First Responder, The Military,The Veteran, and their families. And unfortunately, we need to recognize that there still is an epidemic in our communities—Suicide, brought about by Toxic Stress i.e., Post-Traumatic Stress. But, we have their backs! Operation Warrior Shield is actively supporting our Heroes and working with such great organizations as NYC Dept. of Veterans Services, David Lynch Foundation, NYPD Health& Wellness Section, The Doris Day Animal Foundation, Hope For Heroes, Branding Ovation (in naming just a few), but also, WITH YOU. Tonight is special too, as we are honored to present our first Companion Dogs, YELLIN and LOUIE, to Marine Veterans David Tupper and Carlos Figueroa. So, let’s plant the flag together against this epidemic and contribute what you can to bring the support to those who need us. Thank you all again. God Bless America and these Heroes. And you! SEMPER FI”

Honoree, NYPD Deputy Inspector Mark Wachter began his career in February 1992.
In August, 2019 Deputy Inspector Wachter was transferred along with the Employee Assistance Unit to the newly established Health and Wellness Section, where he also oversees the Wellness Outreach Support Unit. There is now a Health and Wellness App on all 35,000 Department smartphones, allowing members to access resources at their fingertips. On this app lists all the Department Peer Support members, a program launched in October, 2019, to ensure trained peers in commands are available to assist and proactively check in with fellow members. Along with a Wellness video series, 55,000 members were trained via TACTICS on the purpose of the Employee Assistance Unit. Deputy Inspector Wachter’s tireless dedication to helping all members of the service has resulted in new and innovative methods to address overall wellness for the Department including the newly formed Therapy K9 Unit.

US Marine Corps Color Guard Photo credit: Jeff Smith

Honoree Marine Corporal (Ret.) David Tupper made the commitment to serve his country at
the age of 17. For 2 years he served as a Soldier with the 101st airborne before making the decision to join the Marine Corps infantry in 2003. In 2004 he deployed to Fallujah Iraq where he fought in one of the deadliest battles in the Iraq war known as Operation Phantom Fury. In 2012, Sgt. Tupper deployed
for his 3rd combat tour to Afghanistan leading Marines as a platoon sergeant. He lead his Marines out on a patrol when they came under rocket propelled grenade fire. While Sgt.Tupper directed his Marines away from oncoming fire he stayed behind his platoon to get a better view of the enemy and ensure their safety. This is when a second RPG was fired, exploding feet away from his position knocking him unconscious and propelling him into the air ultimately landing on his neck. Sgt.Tupper suffered multiple injuries from the blast to include a traumatic brain injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. He continues to serve his country as a motivational speaker.

Carlos Figueroa and man’s best friend!! Photo credit: Rob Rich

Honoree Marine Corps And Army Veteran Carlos Figueroa served as an Army combat engineer
and defused improvised explosive devices in Iraq. In 2003, his vehicle passed over and triggered an IED. The blast fractured his ribs and his jaw. Despite his injuries, he decided to remain with his squad. Two months later, his vehicle triggered another IED. As a result, Sgt. Figueroa suffered a traumatic brain injury, spinal damage and extensive injuries to his leg. After more than a dozen surgeries and years of debilitating pain, he would eventually lose his leg. His 13-year-old daughter, Lilly, was born with her legs fused together and this condition led to a double amputation below the knee. He describes her as one of the bravest and most resilient persons anyone can meet. Carlos works with many veterans organizations supporting their causes.

Michelle DellaFave Photo credit: Rob Rich

Michelle DellaFave became a familiar face to millions of television viewers
starting in 1969 and through the early 1970s, singing and dancing each week on
Dean Martin’s wildly popular NBC television series. Born in New York City with a show business pedigree (her Mother was a dancer, her father, a drummer), Michelle seemed destined to follow in her parents’ footsteps — and sure enough, right out of high school, she was chosen to join what would become the last set of Copa Girls, the chorus line at New York’s famed Copacabana nightclub.

A few months into that stint, at the age of 19, Michelle answered an open call and was picked to be one of Dean Martin’s singing-dancing Golddiggers, both on his show and on the group’s own network summer variety series. That, in turn, led to her selection as one of four members of The Dingaling Sisters, who for three years performed their own numbers and sang with Dean and his guest stars on every episode of his program. In addition to appearing with The Golddiggers and Dingalings in nightclubs around the country, Michelle also joined those troupes for two consecutive Bob Hope USO Tours of American military bases around the world. And during the early ‘70s, she was featured regularly as one-half of the singing-dancing “Soul Sisters” on Jonathan Winters’ syndicated TV series.

Over the years, Michelle has also been seen on-stage in Equity plays and musicals, and on-camera in television commercials. In recent years, she’s recorded and self-produced four CDs and several singles, sung in major New York City nightclubs (including headlining a number of her own shows), and performed for and supported not only a variety of Veterans’ organizations and events, but those dedicated to world peace, as well. Meanwhile, she continues as a soloist at Manhattan’s St. Mark’s Church in-the- Bowery, and has a set of new song offerings coming out soon.

Errol Rappaport, Cindy Marinangel and Patric Hale Photo credit: Jeff Smith

Another performer during the evening, Patric Hale is known as “the Meistersinger” because he sings everything from classic Rock ‘n Roll, to pop music, to the Rat Pack classics to Italian canzone and German Lieder to opera arias in Italian, French, and German both as a tenor and a baritone. Winner of the NYC “Mario Lanza Competition” and runner-up in the NYC “Dean Martin Competition”, he has lived in four different countries, speaks 5 languages, and sung literally around the world. He supported the OWS Gala because he loves America and our veterans coming from a long line of members of his family who served our country with pride, several of whom were injured before anyone knew what PTSD was and that TM could have helped. He has recorded over 30 CDs with 450 songs. His newest one, Songs of Inspiration was available for purchase after the show with proceeds going to OWS.

Support from designers, entrepreneurs, artists, photographers among others could not have been illustrated more clearly than at the impressive silent and live auction. Peter Reginato donated his paintings to be auctioned at the event. Model and Designer, Avadora Mimouni of Avadora Mimouni Collection donated her luxury bags to help raise funds for OWS. Several longtime supporters of OWS including Errol Rappaport as Good Will Ambassador for OWS, Lorraine Silvetz, Judy Kuriansky, Jose Orellana of ClickMagazine and Lucia Kaiser invited many supporters to the auction and event. Bethann Carbone and Michael Heil of Branding Ovation donated branding development and design services for the Operation Canine Companion initiative theme, as well as marketing and PR services. Everyone was happy to do all that they could in support of our veterans and law enforcement officers. Notable NY Society Event photographers, Jeff Smith, Rob Rich and Gino Franco donated their photographic services for a night which will be long remembered.

OWS’ first companions-in training are two 3-month old Labrador retriever puppies. One is named “Yellin” (after WWII pilot and OWS co-founder, Jerry Yellin) and the other is “Louie” (named after 106-year old WWII veteran, Louis Forte). Both dogs are currently living in upstate New York with Hope for Heroes dog trainers, Mitch Serlin and Matt Notaro.

· The Army Reserve offers more than 120 job opportunities, in fields ranging from Logistics and Military Intelligence to Civil Affairs, Engineering, Cyber, Medical, Legal, Aviation, and many more.

Army Reserve priorities include People, who accomplish the critical work necessary to ensure victory; Readiness, through individual and collective training and junior leader development to retain Soldiers and attract new talent; and the Modernization needed to support next-generation capabilities and multi-domain operations – integrating space and cyber operations with land, sea, and air domains and Strengthening Alliances and Partnerships that enable Soldiers to maintain healthy dual civilian-military career progression, meaningful Army Reserve service, and strong, supportive Families and communities.

Join Command Sergeant Major Andrew Lombardo, Command Sergeant Major of the Army Reserve, as he talks about the significance of this 113th birthday and how the Soldiers are preparing to serve, lead, and shape the future. The Army Reserve is ready today and preparing the force for the demands of tomorrow.

Sergeant James Witkowski:
Sgt. James Witkowski, 729thTransportation Company, and 100 fellow Soldiers were transporting supplies through a village in Iraq, October 2005. Insurgents attacked the convoy with small arms, rocket-propelled grenades, mortars and armor-piercing rounds. Through the mile-long ambush, he returned .50-caliber machine gun fire. When a grenade landed inside his turret, Witkowski made the split-second decision to shield his comrades, taking the full brunt of the detonation with his body and saving the lives of three Soldiers. His actions enabled the convoy to clear away with only minor injuries. Witkowski was posthumously awarded the Silver Star, the nation’s third-highest award for courage under fire.

Specialist Justice McBain
The Army Reserve recognizes Wisconsin Soldier for his heroics during off-duty hours
Spc. Justice McBain, an Army Reserve Soldier, received the Soldier’s Medal, the Army’s highest award for heroism outside combat Sunday.
McBain was presented with the Soldier’s Medal for heroic actions back in 2019 following a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in two fatalities on Interstate 94 in Racine, Wisconsin. McBain saved the lives of a civilian and Wisconsin Air National Guardsman Senior Airman Kelvin Yde.
When McBain arrived on the scene of accident, he found Yde pinned between his seat and the steering wheel with the front windshield collapsed. Without hesitation, McBain sprang into action by moving the windshield over to the side, he cut Yde’s seatbelt, and extracted Yde from the car with the assistance other motorists. All of this occurring while a fire from the semi-truck involved in the incident began to spread amongst the other vehicles involved with the crash.
Before rescuing Yde, McBain assisted an individual in another vehicle by helping her get out of the passenger side of the vehicle because flames were present on the driver’s side.
