Why do I say that, “It’s not easy to be good, but truly worth it?” Because to be good it’s all about EVERYONE ELSE, NOT YOURSELF. For example, when you give someone your seat…you now have to stand, when you walk someone across the street…you might be delayed to where you are going…when you volunteer…you can’t do something else with your time…BUT IN ALL THESE SITUATIONS AND MORE…you gain respect for yourself and respect from the ones you helped and RESPECT AND HONOR IS A BLESSING.

GOOD NEWS VOLUNTEERED with the FOOD RECOVERY NETWORK on Super Bowl Sunday at the Cow Palace Parking Lot in San Francisco for a Guy Fieri’s Tailgate Party. HELLMANN’S MAYO/UNILEVER HELPED SUPPORT THE FOOD RECOVERY NETWORK OUTREACH. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT ALMOST 15,000 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS RECOVERED AND BROUGHT TO THE DELANCEY FOUNDATION TO BE GIVEN TO THOSE IN NEED. 

Student-Led Food Recovery Network (FRN) – now the largest in the US – is making a Big Impact during the Big Game. FRN and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise are working together so that no food gets wasted and goes to families in need in the Bay Area. Good News, Paul Sladkus & Ivy Ma are volunteering at Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate food location.

ONE STORY OF FOR MOTHER EARTH starts with this weekend’s Super Bowl and the Food Recovery Network (FRN), UNILEVER/Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, and Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate…   

GOOD NEWS will be volunteering at the COW PALACE IN SAN FRANCISCO WITH THE FOOD RECOVERY NETWORK FROM Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate Major Party…  they expect to give over 10,000 pounds to two San Francisco food locations for those in need.

Student-Led Food Recovery Network (FRN) – now the largest in the US – is making a Big Impact during the Big Game. FRN and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise are working together so that no food gets wasted and goes to families in need in the Bay Area. “Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show,” which has stacked up rave reviews over the years, is a theatrical, musical production which recreates what it would have been like to see legendary icons, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop live onstage together.

“God sends the Rat Pack back to do one last show. They arrive in their prime but they are sent back to modern day so we get to weave current events into show,” said Miller who plays “Frank’s One Love,” a character based on Sinatra’s relationship with Ava Gardner. “Sandy’s father, Buddy Hackett, plays God. Frank, Sammy, Joey and Dean were all his friends and Sandy grew up with them. There is a lot of room for improv in the show, as it was with the real Rat Pack. Sandy is brilliant as Joey Bishop and is the comedy genius that has made our show so successful.”

Lisa has her own connection to the Rat Pack. Her father was songwriting legend, Ron Miller. “Every singing member of the Rat Pack recorded and performed my father’s classic standard, ‘For Once in My Life,’” Miller said. Hackett continued, “My wife brings her musical genius to the show, both as a creator and performer, which really sets our show apart from anything else out there,” Hackett said.

Sandy, who is working on a book about his father, “My Buddy,” to be released late this year, tours nationwide as a comedian and with his one-man show of the same name (directed by Miller), a live theatrical production about his close relationship with his dad and the ten years they spent touring together. www.mybuddyhackett.com

Lisa, a producer and singer/songwriter, is developing a new musical, “For Once in My Life,” about the life of her father whose hits, in addition to “For Once in My Life,” include “Touch Me in the Morning,” “A Place in the Sun,” “Heaven Help Us All,” “Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday,” “If I Could,” “I’ve Never Been to Me,” “Someday at Christmas,” “Everyone’s a Kid at Christmas Time” and many more. She has released several recordings and directed numerous music videos. She also heads up her own music publishing company, LDM Publishing; manages her father’s vast legacy catalogue; tours throughout the country and manages the careers of her children, 18-year-old actor/singer, Oliver Richman, freshman at New York University Tisch School of the Arts and 13-year-old actor/singer/dancer, Ashleigh Hackett, a middle schooler, also a student of the performing arts.

Earth Charter +10 is a yearlong celebration of the tenth anniversary of the completion of the Earth Charter, which was launched at The Hague Peace Palace in June 2000. Events to celebrate and engage people with the Earth Charter will be taking place around the world throughout 2010.

Earth Charter US is inviting Americans to join the global celebration by organizing EC+10 gatherings in their homes and communities on November 2 in conjunction with the major EC+10 Event in Ahmedabad, India. Throughout this year we will facilitate online interactive conversations among Earth Charter supporters in the US to help develop and promote EC+10 gatherings next November.

We invite you to take part in an online Earth Charter regional gathering that will take place this Thursday, 8 April at 10:30am Eastern Daylight Time, where we’ll start discussing our plans for this historic celebration.

Earth Charter International is encouraging four informal regional meetings (one in each major region of the world) that will bring together Earth Charter youth groups, affiliates, some partners and council members with the following purpose:

Know more about those individuals and organizations working with Earth Charter in the region.
Have a short discussion about Earth Charter activities in 2010 (specifically on the Earth Charter +10 anniversary).
Share views regarding the Earth Charter strategy for gaining recognition for the Earth Charter at the UN.
These meetings will be executed in an online multimedia platform, which has been already used for Earth Charter online courses. To join the meetings, you need high speed internet connection; also web-camera and microphone are useful if you want to join the discussion. In case you don’t have those, you can still participate through the text chats. To enter the platform, please follow the steps on the “EC+10 Meeting Room” webpage. This will be open half an hour before our meeting Thursday, 8 April at 10:30 am.
