Why do I say that, “It’s not easy to be good, but truly worth it?” Because to be good it’s all about EVERYONE ELSE, NOT YOURSELF. For example, when you give someone your seat…you now have to stand, when you walk someone across the street…you might be delayed to where you are going…when you volunteer…you can’t do something else with your time…BUT IN ALL THESE SITUATIONS AND MORE…you gain respect for yourself and respect from the ones you helped and RESPECT AND HONOR IS A BLESSING.

GOOD NEWS VOLUNTEERED with the FOOD RECOVERY NETWORK on Super Bowl Sunday at the Cow Palace Parking Lot in San Francisco for a Guy Fieri’s Tailgate Party. HELLMANN’S MAYO/UNILEVER HELPED SUPPORT THE FOOD RECOVERY NETWORK OUTREACH. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT ALMOST 15,000 POUNDS OF FOOD WAS RECOVERED AND BROUGHT TO THE DELANCEY FOUNDATION TO BE GIVEN TO THOSE IN NEED. 

Student-Led Food Recovery Network (FRN) – now the largest in the US – is making a Big Impact during the Big Game. FRN and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise are working together so that no food gets wasted and goes to families in need in the Bay Area. Good News, Paul Sladkus & Ivy Ma are volunteering at Guy Fieri’s Flavortown Tailgate food location.

Susan Edwards Martin, is the original “Lady Blues” in the Tony Award winning Broadway play, Torch Song Trilogy. She most recently performed her critically acclaimed cabaret show at Feinstein’s/54Below in Manhattan and Feinstein’s@Vitello’s in Los Angeles. Susan received two Eddon Awards, one for Best Cabaret/Concert in an Intimate Space for An Unpredictable Musical Evening and the other most recently for Most Memorable Holiday Concert for The Susan Edwards Martin Holiday Extravaganza! Ms. Edwards Martin is currently in production of her original musical, Unlimited! You’ll Have the Time of Her Life!

When I was in New York on broadway, playing Lady Blues in Harvey Fierstein’s Tony Award Winning play Torch Song Trilogy, I wrote this song with Hara Taicher and then recorded it, to be Broadway’s answer to ending world hunger. Currently residing in Los Angeles, I am proud to be a part of the Temple Beth Hillel Community in Valley Village, California, that helps to supply the North Hollywood Interfaith Food Pantry, a coalition of synagogues and churches, providing about 5,000 meals per month to the needy. “October 16, was World Food Day and it is a special day observed by all United Nations member nations. The day is intended to bring public attention to the issue of world hunger and food security. The world produces more than enough food to meet these needs, but poverty, lack of infrastructure, and corruption prevent that food from being distributed to those in need. If you can’t feed 100 people, just feed one! Join Pope Francis’ Week of Action to end world hunger. Almost all of those suffering from malnutrition and hunger are in developing countries. NEW YORK — U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Deputy Director Lori L. Scialabba will administer the Oath of Allegiance to America’s newest citizens, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Director & CEO Thomas P. Campbell, during a special naturalization ceremony at the Museum on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.

USCIS New York District Director Phyllis Coven will open the ceremony followed by the National Anthem performed by the Gospel for Teens Choir and welcoming remarks from New York City Council Member Carlos Menchaca. USCIS Deputy Director Scialabba will provide congratulatory remarks. Mr. Campbell will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and deliver the keynote address to the new citizens and guests.

The 75 citizenship candidates originate from the following 42 countries: Albania (2), Antigua-Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Brazil (3), Burundi, Canada, Cape Verde, People’s Republic of China, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Dominican Republic (13), Ecuador (2), France (4), Germany, Ghana (2), Guatemala, Guinea, Guyana, Honduras, India (3), Ireland, Israel (2), Italy, Jamaica (4), Kosovo (2), Mauritania, Mexico, Morocco(2), Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Russia, Rwanda, South Korea, St. Kitts-Nevis, Taiwan, Turkey (3), United Kingdom (3), Uruguay (2), and Yemen.

USCIS encourages new citizens and guests to share their naturalization ceremony experiences and photos through social media, using the hashtag #newUScitizen on Twitter.
