Dear Friends and Members,

The holidays are upon us and we wish you, your family and friends health and happiness. Most of us have worked very hard to be where we are and are so thankful for what we have, that is Good News!

March 22, 2022, we are focusing on WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene). is declared by the UN as World Water Day. We are planning to strengthen that message, as we also will do for our annual International Day of Peace on September 21, www.peacedayparty.org. We have a hold on March 22 for Times Square, Great Lawn in Central Park and the Centennial Memorial Temple, all very large venues for MAJOR BROADCASTS. We are also working with Wonderama TV. www.WonderamaTV.com

Why? Water

· Today, 1 in 4 people – 2 billion people – around the world lack safe drinking water. (WHO/UNICEF 2021)

· Almost half of the global population – 3.6 billion people – lack safe sanitation. (WHO/UNICEF 2021)

· 494 million people still practice open defecation. (WHO/UNICEF 2021)

1 in 3 people – 2.3 billion people – around the world lack basic handwashing facilities at home. (WHO/UNICEF 2021)

THE END OF THE YEAR IS UPON US AND WE NEED YOU, SPONSORS, PATRONS to help us spread this WATER MESSAGE. THIS IS SERIOUS. WE WILL DONATE A MAJOR PORTION OF ANY DONATED TAX DEDUCTIBLE MONEY TO MAJOR NONPROFITS ” ON THE GROUND” WHO GET CLEAN WATER TO THOSE WHO CAN DIE WITHOUT IT AND TO THOSE AFFECTED BY WATER. * See below Purpose of Good News Corporation.

Many people may think that leg swelling, pain, tenderness or redness of the skin are seemingly minor symptoms, but they could point to a potentially serious condition such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT), which can lead to a pulmonary embolism (PE).1 Some PE symptoms may include difficulty breathing, chest pain or discomfort, faster than normal or irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, light-headedness or fainting.1,2

www.notimetowait.com/dvt-pe-explained

According to CDC data from 2010, DVT and PE affects as many as 900,000 Americans each year.3 Further, PE could be deadly.1,3 No Time to Wait has launched in part to raise awareness about symptoms of DVT and PE and encourage those experiencing these symptoms to not delay speaking with a healthcare provider. Symptoms can be representative of many conditions, and only a healthcare provider can determine whether these symptoms indicate DVT/PE or another condition.
DVT is a blood clot in a deep vein, usually in the leg, thigh, or pelvis and can also occur in the arm.1,4 A PE is a blood clot in the lungs and is the most serious condition that can be caused by DVT.1 This happens when a DVT clot, or part of it, breaks off and travels through the bloodstream to the lungs, reducing or cutting off blood supply. 1,4 PE can cause sudden death in about 25% of cases.3

It’s important for those experiencing symptoms that could be due to DVT or PE to talk to a healthcare provider right away by phone, online or in person. Seeking medical attention early may help reduce the chances of DVT or PE becoming more serious. In addition to speaking with a healthcare provider, individuals are encouraged to visit www.NoTimetoWait.com/dvt-pe-explained, where they can find additional information.

Dr. Jenice Baker, Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency Department and Attending Physician at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden NJ, will be available to discuss the No Time to Wait campaign and help educate viewers about DVT and PE symptoms and why it’s critical for those experiencing symptoms that could be due to DVT or PE to consult a healthcare provider.

HEAR HOW ONE COLLEGE STUDENT’S LIFE CHANGED FOREVER AFTER NEARLY DYING FROM A VACCINE-PREVENTABLE DISEASE

Dr. Len Friedland, practicing physician, vaccine researcher and Vice President and Director, Scientific Affairs and Public Health, Vaccines, GSK

Jamie Schanbaum, meningitis survivor, US Para-athlete and GSK spokesperson

BACKGROUND
It’s that time of the school year where teens and young adults are counting down the days to the holidays and a much-needed break from classes. In 2008, Jamie was a college freshman getting ready to complete her first semester and head home for the holidays when her life changed forever. In just 24 hours, she went from being a healthy college student to fighting for her life after contracting meningococcal disease, also known as meningitis. Jamie spent seven months in the hospital, ultimately losing both of her legs below the knees, and all of her fingers due to the disease. While many colleges require MenACWY vaccination, MenB vaccination has only been available since 2014, and most colleges still do not require it. She is sharing her story to ensure that parents are aware there are 2 different types of vaccines to help prevent meningitis – one for MenACWY, and one for MenB, , to help other families avoid her experience. During the pandemic, it’s more important than ever for parents to educate themselves and utilize the vaccines available to help protect their kids against vaccine-preventable diseases they may be at risk for, like meningitis.

DID YOU KNOW?
•	Meningitis is an uncommon, but serious illness that can cause life-threatening complications, or even death. Early symptoms of meningitis may be similar to those of the flu, but can progress quickly and can be fatal, sometimes within 24 hours. ,
•	Up to 1 in 5 meningitis survivors suffer long-term consequences, such as brain damage, amputations, hearing loss and nervous system problems. Among those who contract meningitis, 1 in 10 will die, despite treatment, sometimes in as little as 24 hours.7
•	Teens and young adults are at an increased risk for contracting meningitis because it can spread through certain common behaviors such as living in close quarters like college dorms, kissing, and sharing drinks, utensils, or smoking devices.4,
•	From 2011 through March 2019, meningitis B (MenB) caused all US college meningococcal outbreaks, which involved 13 campuses, 50 cases, and 2 deaths among an at-risk population of approximately 253,000 students.

VACCINATION IS STILL IMPORTANT
•	Even if your college-aged children are not attending in-person classes due to COVID-19 precautions, they may still be at risk for diseases like MenB.4
•	Your teen or young adult may have received MenACWY vaccination when they were younger, but most have not yet received MenB vaccination, which only became available in 2014. Recent CDC data show that still, only about 1 in 5 17-year-olds in the US received at least one dose of MenB vaccination in 2019.12
•	Winter break is a good time to schedule a wellness visit and talk to your child’s doctor about the two different types of vaccines to help prevent meningococcal disease – one for MenACWY and one for MenB.2,3

From one of our colleagues :

I’m being asked what I think about an mRNA vaccine. It’s a brilliant strategy and the data appear to show efficacy and safety. I used to work for a pharmaceutical company and present data for FDA approval of drugs. I am familiar with the rooms full of paperwork and the multiple studies that go into approval.
What’s great is that this vaccine doesn’t rely on a killed virus or a part of a virus. It relies on mRNA. What is mRNA? It is just a transient, short-lived copy of a gene. Consider that your body has this blueprint in its genes (in its DNA). The DNA tells the cells what proteins to make. But DNA is stuck in the cell nucleus and can’t go anywhere. So the cells make a copy of the gene, called “messenger RNA” or mRNA. (It’s just slightly different from the DNA so that the cells can tell the difference). This strand of mRNA gets sent the part of the cell where the protein will be made and the cell makes the proper protein based on this code. The mRNA, having served its purpose, gets destroyed in minutes or hours. The protein is also eventually destroyed.
Scientists have gotten a lot better over the years at figuring out this code and working with the mRNA. They isolated the mRNA for one particular protein on the COVID-causing virus, mostly commonly the “spike” protein that is important in infection. The vaccine contains mRNA that enters cells, gets made into the protein, the protein goes to the outside of cells, the immune system recognizes it as “foreign” and starts an immune response against it. The Spike protein doesn’t seem to cause damage. After all, it’s all by itself, lacking all of the other components of the virus that caused it to infect cells.
Once the body has started its immune response, it keeps some immune cells in reserve that recognize this Spike protein. Then, if the virus enters the body, its Spike protein gets recognized, the proper immune cells get made, and the body destroys the ability of the virus to cause infection.
This mRNA vaccine technology is relatively new but has been studied for a decade. What is so promising is that there is no virus present, so there is no infection and since there is only one thing for the immune system to react against, it greatly reduces the chances of a hyper-immune reaction. Sometimes when the immune system is doing its thing, there are effects like aching from the increased blood flow, etc. but these symptoms can be signs that the process is working. These side effects are reported to be rare, short in duration and mild. But most importantly, the vaccines have shown extremely high efficacy in preventing infection.
I see absolutely no reason to not accept this vaccine. It has been shown to be highly effective and safe. For all you “You never know” types, safety concerns show up in trials. Many trials have been done. I am not an insider, but CEOs and people on the front lines all say that the only “rush” has been in that they have made this vaccine a priority, the FDA has made it a priority, and the companies have skipped over all the wrangling with management about the financial risk. I believe the reports that say that the science has not been rushed in the sense of skipping steps. The same FDA standards have been used as apply to all vaccines. Also, multiple companies using this approach have had very similar results. I plan to get the vaccine as soon as I can.
If you are someone who has concerns about vaccines, I would tell you that from a simple position of risk assessment, this COVID-causing virus has FAR FAR greater risk. It is one bad virus, has taken many of my friends and loved ones and has caused a planet-load of heartache and inconvenience. It has been relentless at using the body’s enzymes to make copies of itself and infect others. It contains a “proof-reading” enzyme that keeps its genes from mutating very much. Many viruses fade out because they accumulate so many mutations that gradually reduce the virus’ infective capabilities. Not this one. If you are fearful of a vaccine, my advice would be to weigh the risks. There are some unknowns, such as how long it will protect, but I don’t see these as obstacles. I am not qualified to give medical advice, but as a scientist, I am confident that the strategy is sound, the FDA has a robust procedure and that opposing the vaccine based on fear or ideology could harm yourself and others.

CURRENT OUTBREAK:
UNDERSTAND YOUR RISK FOR HEPATITIS A
AN INFECTIOUS LIVER DISEASE

LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS PREVENTABLE DISEASE – FROM SYMPTOMS TO RISK FACTORS – AND THE IMPORTANCE OF VACCINATION

Dr. Len Friedland, practicing physician, vaccine researcher and Vice President and Director, Scientific Affairs and Public Health, Vaccines, GSK

BACKGROUND:
October is National Liver Awareness Month, an important time to learn about vaccine-preventable forms of viral hepatitis, including Hepatitis A, a highly-infectious virus that affects the liver and can lead to sickness, hospitalization and even death, in some cases.[i] The US is currently experiencing a nationwide Hepatitis A outbreak, yet awareness and vaccination among adults remains shockingly low (~15%).[ii] After a consistent 20-year downward trend in cases, in 2017, Hepatitis A cases spiked nationwide, with 27 states experiencing active outbreaks in 2020. During this time, there have been more than 34,000 reported cases, with over 61% of infected people hospitalized, and 333 deaths, making it the largest person-to-person Hepatitis A virus outbreak in the postvaccine era.[iii],[iv]

DID YOU KNOW?

Anyone who isn’t vaccinated can be at risk for Hepatitis A as it can be spread person-to-person or through contaminated food or drink.1

People with Hepatitis A may not know that they are infected and can transmit the disease to others.1

Most people in the US have not been vaccinated for Hepatitis A; creating opportunities for infection and spread. Additionally, more than half of older adults have never heard of or are unfamiliar with a vaccine for Hepatitis A (56%).[v]

Hepatitis A vaccination isn’t only for higher risk groups or people traveling to certain parts of the world. The general public can come into contact with the virus when traveling even within the US and through contaminated food. For example, where food is prepared and served by food handlers infected with the Hepatitis A virus.1

The CDC advises that anyone who wishes to be protected against Hepatitis A speak to their doctor or pharmacist about vaccination. Most commercial plans are required to cover vaccines recommended by the CDC and Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP).

Raising awareness about Hepatitis A and vaccination is more important than ever.

Immunization rates for most vaccines across all age groups have dropped significantly during COVID-19 and adult vaccination rates have dropped by over 80 percent since the peak of the pandemic.[vi] Everyone, not just those at high risk, can talk to their doctor or pharmacist about all vaccine-preventable forms of viral hepatitis and other CDC-recommended vaccines that may be needed during their next well visit. It is important to stay up-to-date on recommended vaccines to prevent unnecessary sickness and hospitalization, especially during the pandemic.[vii]

Good News Planet Hepatitis Q&A

If someone has fatty liver, is it even more important to get the vaccination for hepatitis A and hepatitis B?

When living with fatty liver disease, it’s important to prevent any additional sources of potential liver damage. The US Centers for Disease Control and prevention recommends hepatitis A and B vaccination for people living with chronic liver diseases, including fatty liver disease and hepatitis C.1

What is the difference between Hepatitis A and B and how do you recognize it? Is there a different treatment?

Hepatitis A and B are both viruses that affect the liver, and can cause serious illness or even death, but are transmitted in different ways and can cause a different course of illness.1 Hepatitis A is highly infectious, and is transmitted through person-to-person contact or contaminated food/drink, and usually causes a short-term illness.1 Hepatitis B is transmitted from mother to child during birth, blood, or through sexual contact, and can cause short or long-term illness, depending on the age of someone when they contract it.[viii] In the current outbreak, Hepatitis A has been associated with a high rate of hospitalization (nationally 60% of cases), with treatment mainly administered to combat unpleasant symptoms.1,4 Short-term treatment of hepatitis B may be similar, but long-term hepatitis B infections may require ongoing antiviral treatment to manage the virus and prevent liver damage.[ix]

Can you get both [Hep A and B] vaccinations the same day and who gives this vaccination?

Hepatitis A and B vaccinations can be administered by a physician or pharmacist and can be given at the same time. The hepatitis A vaccine is a 2-dose vaccine series, for children 1 year of age and older, and adults, that can be completed in 6 months.[x] The hepatitis B vaccine is available in a 2-dose series for adults 18 years of age and older, which can be completed in 1 month, or a 3-dose series for all ages, which can be completed in 6 months.[xi] There is also a hepatitis A and B combination vaccine series available for adults 18 years of age and older, to provide protection against both viruses. While routine infant vaccination has been recommended for hepatitis A since 2006, and hepatitis B since 1991, most adults in the US are not protected against these viruses.[xii],[xiii] Nationally, only about 20% of adults 18 years of age and older have received even 1 dose of the hepatitis A vaccine and only about 25% of adults 19 years of age and older have completed the hepatitis B vaccine series.[xiv],[xv]

There are a variety of reasons why treatments fail, and patients need to work with their healthcare team to explore their options if treatment failure occurs.
Herewith tips for patients, are Dr. Michael Mauro, (More-oh) and Karen, who is living with chronic myeloid leukemia, or CML.
BIO:DR. MICHAEL MAURO:
•	Michael Mauro, MD, Professor of Medicine, Member and Attending Physician and Leader of the Myeloproliferative Neoplasms Program, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York, NY
o	Dr. Mauro’s clinical expertise is in treating patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), as well as other myeloproliferative disorders, including myelofibrosis, polycythemia and thrombocytosis. In practice, he offers in-depth explanation regarding diagnoses and therapy options, and is a proponent of active partnerships with his patients to personalize decision-making and monitoring. He is a board-certified hematologist and leader of the Myeloproliferative Neoplasms Program within the Leukemia Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC). Before joining Memorial Sloan Kettering, Dr. Mauro was on the faculty of Oregon Health and Sciences University for 13 years. There, he directed the CML clinical trial program. He completed both residency and fellowship training at New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City.
o	Location: Practices in both Manhattan (NYC) and Montvale, NJ campuses of MSKCC
o	Specialty/Areas of Focus: Chronic Myeloid Leukemia; Myelofibrosis; Polycythemia; Thrombocytosis, Other Myeloproliferative Disorders
o	Education: MD, Dartmouth Medical School
o	Board Certifications: Hematology
BIO:KAREN L.
o Bio: Karen is a teacher, former runner turned yogi, wife and mother of two from Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
o Journey with CML:
§ When she began losing excessive weight and noticed a weakness in her legs during runs, she initially attributed these symptoms to turning 40 years old. Eventually she decided to visit her doctor, but her doctor was not concerned and told her to come back in a few months if she was still experiencing the same symptoms.
§ A few months later, Karen returned to her doctor for an ultrasound, which revealed her spleen was enlarged. Following a blood test, a nurse called Karen and told her it was suspected she had blood cancer and urged Karen to come straight to the hospital. The nurse expressed concerns about her potentially being at risk for a stroke. After further testing, it was confirmed that Karen had chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Karen spent several days in the hospital to help regulate the CML. After she was released from the hospital, Karen started taking a daily medication to help control the CML. Eventually Karen was able to return to teaching and her usual activities.
§ Following her initial diagnosis, Karen developed a genetic mutation that caused her treatment for CML to stop working. Since there were no available treatment options effective against the mutation, Karen enrolled in a clinical trial and responded well to the treatment she was given.
§ Today,Karen remains on the medication she took in the clinical trial and is stillteaching.
Justin Birckbichler (Berk-bick-ler) to discuss why he got involved in Survivorship Today, as well as his personal experience dealing with the triumphs and challenges of life with cancer. Joining Justin will be Shelley Fuld Nasso (FoldNas-So), CEO of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), who can discuss the latest research on the long-term impacts of cancer and ways to better support survivors’ needs. Website: SurvivorshipToday.com
MOST OF US KNOW SOMEONE WITH CANCER. THANKS TO ADVANCES IN RESEARCH, THERE ARE NEARLY 17 MILLION CANCER SURVIVORS IN THE U.S. TODAY, AND NEARLY HALF OF THEM HAVE SURVIVED 10 OR MORE YEARS SINCE THEIR DIAGNOSIS. HOWEVER, MANY STILL FEEL UNCERTAIN ABOUT THE FUTURE AS THEY COPE WITH THE MENTAL, EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL EFFECTS OF THE DISEASE.
A PROGRAM CALLED SURVIVORSHIP TODAY: WHAT IT’S LIKE TO LIVE WITH CANCER AIMS TO HELP PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE REALITIES THAT PEOPLE AFFECTED BY CANCER FACE EACH DAY. ACTOR STERLING K. BROWN IS NARRATING THIS SERIES BY BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB, WHICH TELLS THE STORIES OF CANCER SURVIVORS ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
JOINING US NOW ARE SHELLEYFULD NASSO, CEO OF THE NATIONAL COALITION FOR CANCER SURVIVORSHIP, AND JUSTIN BIRCKBICHLER, A 28-YEAR OLD SURVIVOR FEATURED IN THIS SERIES.
We learned about.
• Justin, what is the Survivorship Today program and why was it important for you to get involved?
• Shelley, when your organization was founded, cancer survivorship was a new concept, and in many ways it still is. How has cancer survivorship and care changed over the past 10 years?
• Justin, as someone who has been through it, what do you wish people knew about life after a cancer diagnosis?
• Shelley, what can each of us do to provide more support for people living with cancer?
• Justin, where can people go for more information and support?
Shelley Fuld Nasso, Chief Executive Officer
The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS)
As Chief Executive Officer,Shelley Fuld Nasso leads the public policy activities of NCCS at a time of rapid and fundamental health care system change. Shelley joined NCCS in 2013.
Prior to joining NCCS,Shelley served in leadership roles at Susan G. Komen, where she leveraged Komen’s grassroots network in Washington, D.C., and in state capitals. She is a graduate of Rice University and holds a Master of Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
Shelley’s commitment to the work of NCCS is strongly tied to the experiences in the cancer care system of her dear friend, Dr. Brent Whitworth, a beloved physician who was diagnosed with stage IV cancer days before his 42nd birthday and who passed away 19 months later. Through Brent’s experiences, Shelley witnessed the strengths and flaws of the cancer care system and embraces the notion that policy change can make cancer care better for patients and caregivers.
Shelley and her husband Michael live in Maryland and are the parents of three boys.

Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D., had a childhood dream of becoming a physician. Growing up in a single parent home with dire poverty, poor grades, a horrible temper, and low self-esteem appeared to preclude the realization of that dream until his mother, with only a third-grade education, challenged her sons to strive for excellence. Young Ben persevered and today is an emeritus professor of neurosurgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and he has directed pediatric neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center for over 39 years. He became the inaugural recipient of a professorship dedicated in his name in May, 2008. He is now the Emeritus Benjamin S. Carson, Sr., M.D. and Dr. Evelyn Spiro, R.N. Professor of Pediatric Neurosurgery, having retired on June 30, 2013.

Some career highlights include the first separation of craniopagus (Siamese) twins joined at the back of the head in 1987, the first completely successful separation of type-2 vertical craniopagus twins in 1997 in South Africa, and the first successful placement of an intrauterine shunt for a hydrocephalic twin. Although he has been involved in many newsworthy operations, he feels that every case is noteworthy – deserving of maximum attention. He is interested in all aspects of pediatric neurosurgery and has a special interest in trigeminal neuralgia (severe facial pain) in adults.

Dr. Carson holds more than 60 honorary doctorate degrees. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Horatio Alger Society of Distinguished Americans, and many other prestigious organizations. He sits on the board of directors of numerous organizations, including Kellogg Company, Costco Wholesale Corporation, the Academy of Achievement, and is an Emeritus Fellow of the Yale Corporation, the governing body of Yale University. He was appointed in 2004 by President George W. Bush to serve on the President’s Council on Bioethics. He is a highly regarded motivational speaker who has addressed various audiences from school systems and civic groups to corporations and the President’s National Prayer Breakfast.

In 2001, Dr. Carson was named by CNN and TIME Magazine as one of the nation’s 20 foremost physicians and scientists. That same year, he was selected by the Library of Congress as one of 89 “Living Legends” on the occasion of its 200th anniversary. He is also the recipient of the 2006 Spingarn Medal which is the highest honor bestowed by the NAACP. In February, 2008, Dr. Carson was presented with the Ford’s Theatre Lincoln Medal by President Bush at the White House. In June, 2008, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by the President, which is the highest civilian honor in the land. He has literally received hundreds of other awards during his distinguished career.

In June 2013, after 40 years of medical endeavors, Carson retired and today serves as Professor Emeritus of Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University.

In addition writing a weekly opinion column for The Washington Times, Carson is a FOX News contributor and currently working on his newest book, One Nation, scheduled for release in May 2014.

Today, Dr. Carson and his wife, Candy, dedicate themselves to expanding the reach of the Carson Scholars Fund. Their dream is to name a Carson Scholar in every school within the United States.

A Message from Dr. Carson

I am fully aware that there are those organizations who desperately would like for me to seek public office, specifically that of the President of the United States. I have not endorsed any of these organizations and have neither any professional nor personal relationships and am not in communication with any of them. Furthermore, I maintain that as of today it is not my intention to seek public office. Instead I will continue to strive very hard to not only expose what is happening in our nation, but also to suggest ways to regain a direction that will lead our nation towards freedom and justice for all. If God has other plans for me moving forward, I am certain he will make those clear and I will always listen.

12PM – 6PM
New York, NY (May 15, 2013) – The Apollo Theater announced today a new community initiative focused on family health and wellness – Harlem Healthy Soul Festival. Sponsored by Coca-Cola, Harlem Healthy Soul Festival is designed to serve as a platform for Harlem families to learn about the numerous community health resources to live active and healthy lives. This daylong, free event will take place on Saturday, June 1st beginning at noon and will transform 126th Street behind the Apollo, into a block party filled with music, entertainment, celebrity performances, health and educational resources and family fun. Families are encouraged to participate in an array of activities such as health screenings, nutrition-focused cooking demonstrations, celebrity performances, and exercise modules. EmblemHealth and Manhattan’s Physician Group will also provide free health screenings.
WBLS’s Dr. Bob Lee will serve as the Apollo’s host for the Festival that will feature Apollo Amateur Night winners, Harlem Seeds, Dance Theater of Harlem and kids group Little Club Heads to name a few. This cultural celebration of healthy living will host a Men and Women’s Health Pavilion, Kid’s World Pavilion, Family Health and Wellness Pavilion and Healthy “Soul” Food Pavilion. Additionally, special celebrity guests, actors Tichina Arnold, Tamara Tunie and Lamman Rucker will conduct exclusive interviews and book signings at the Celebrity Hot Spot.
“In addition to being one of upper Manhattan’s most active performance venues and working theaters, the Apollo is also deeply committed to serving and enhancing the life of the Harlem community, and to the well-being of our neighbors” said Jonelle Procope, President& CEO of the Apollo Theater. “So we are delighted to present the Harlem Healthy Soul Festival and are thankful to Coca-Cola for their support.”
Recently, the Apollo Theater and Coca-Cola announced the extension of their long-term partnership which spans over 25 years. During this tenure, Coca-Cola has supported many of the nonprofit Theater’s major programs, including education in the arts, and its long-running signature show, Amateur Night. The Apollo’s Harlem Healthy Soul Festival is an extension of Coca-Cola’s sponsorship.
The Harlem Healthy Soul Festival promises to be an Apollo Theater signature cultural event joining the famed Apollo Amateur Night, the Apollo Music Café and Apollo Uptown Hall to name a few. To learn more about the Harlem Healthy Soul Festival, please visit www.Harlemhealthysoulfestival.org.

About the Apollo Theater
The Apollo is a national treasure that has had significant impact on the development of American culture and its popularity around the world. Since introducing the first Amateur Night contests in 1934, the Apollo Theater has played a major role in cultivating artists and in the emergence of innovative musical genres including jazz, swing, bebop, R&B, gospel, blues, soul, and hip-hop. Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Sammy Davis, Jr., James Brown, Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, Gladys Knight, Luther Vandross, D’Angelo, Lauryn Hill, and countless others began their road to stardom on the Apollo’s stage. The Apollo Theater’s new artistic vision builds on its legacy. New Apollo programming has music as its core, driving large scale and more intimate music, dance and theater presentations. The Apollo will continue to present historically relevant presentations, as well as more forward-looking, contemporary work.
