have an infection that does not go away or that keeps coming back

have TB or have been in close contact with someone with TB

recently received or are scheduled to receive a vaccine (immunization). You should avoid receiving live vaccines during treatment with ILUMYA.

are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if ILUMYA can harm your unborn baby.

are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. It is not known if ILUMYA passes into your breast milk.

Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

It is not known if ILUMYA is safe and effective in children under 18 years of age.

What are the possible side effects of ILUMYA?

ILUMYA may cause serious side effects. See “What is the most important information I should know about ILUMYA?”

The most common side effects of ILUMYA include: upper respiratory infections, injection site reactions and diarrhea. These are not all of the possible side effects of ILUMYA. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects.

The FDA Recently Approved a New Oral Treatment

There is now a new treatment option for the estimated 2 million people in the United States living with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis1,2,3 whose symptoms may make day-to-day life more challenging. For those that aren’t familiar with psoriasis, it is a widely prevalent, chronic, systemic immune-mediated disease.4

And up to 90% of patients with psoriasis have psoriasis vulgaris, also known as plaque psoriasis,5 which is characterized by distinct round or oval plaques typically covered by silvery-white scales.

One of the challenges that both doctors and patients face is that despite the availability of therapies, many people living with plaque psoriasis in the United States are untreated or undertreated.5,6

But good news has arrived. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has officially approved a new treatment for adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for systemic therapy or phototherapy.

Dr. April Armstrong, dermatologist and clinical investigator in one of the treatment’s trials and Associate Dean and Professor of Dermatology at the University of Southern California, alongside Leah M. Howard, J.D., President and CEO of the National Psoriasis Foundation, will discuss the impact of psoriasis and a new, FDA-approved oral treatment for moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis. *

A complex and chronic inflammatory disease, psoriasis impacts approximately 8 million Americans and 125 million people worldwide. Plaque psoriasis is the most common form of psoriasis — accounting for about 80% to 90% of cases — and is characterized by raised patches of skin with silvery-white or gray scale that can be itchy, painful and disfiguring.

For the millions of people living with psoriasis, like Gloria, the impact on their daily lives extends far beyond the physical symptoms. Among some of the many grievances Gloria can share about her last 10 years living with the condition are:

Strangers commenting on her skin when she’s out in public

Leaving bits of skin on furniture — and even needing to vacuum her bedsheets

Wearing her hair down during the unbearably hot Texas summer to avoid showing affected areas on the back of her neck

Times when people haven’t wanted to touch her skin, such as a cashier not wanting to take a $20 bill from her hands, during a flare-up

Although Gloria tried a number of treatments to help improve her psoriasis, many of these treatments didn’t give her the results she was looking for — as is often the case among psoriasis patients.

Fortunately, there’s hope. A new, innovative treatment in plaque psoriasis is getting high praise from people like Gloria, as well as the medical community. Following more than 25 years of minimal innovation in the topical psoriasis treatment space, the FDA recently approved a steroid-free, prescription cream for plaque psoriasis in adults — the first in its class in the U.S.

Linda Stein-Gold, MD, Director of Dermatology Clinical Research at Henry Ford Health System and Gloria as they discuss the significant impact plaque psoriasis may have on a person’s life and what this new treatment may mean for those who are suffering with plaque psoriasis as well.

Early Detection is Key to Reducing the Chance of Serious Outcomes of
Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)

www.vascularcures.org

When most people think of heart disease, their association is with coronary artery disease (CAD), where fatty deposits and plaque can build up in the arteries that carry blood from your heart through the body. But artery disease can affect more than just the heart. The limited blood flow caused by artery disease can be dangerous, leading to blood clots and a lesser known but very serious disease called peripheral artery disease (PAD).

CAD is the most common type of heart disease and is the greatest cause of morbidity and mortality in the U.S.1 Approximately 18.2 million adults over age 20 are living with CAD in the U.S.2 PAD affects an estimated 20 million Americans,3 yet only approximately 8.5 million are diagnosed.4 If left untreated, CAD and PAD can increase the risk of serious health outcomes such as heart attack, stroke,5 and – in the case of PAD – acute limb ischemia or even a lower limb amputation.6

It’s important to be aware of the potential connection between these two artery diseases. If you have CAD, you may have an increased risk of PAD – and vice versa.6 In fact, more than 40% of individuals with CAD also have PAD.1

Further, these conditions have overlapping risk factors – including hypertension (high blood pressure), diabetes and smoking (even formerly smoking).6 In fact, smoking is the most common preventable cause of PAD.7 Up to 90 percent of people with PAD have a history of smoking,8 and smokers have a 4x greater risk of PAD than nonsmokers.9

Early detection is key to reducing the chance of serious outcomes. Knowing your risk of CAD and PAD – and talking to your doctor – are important first steps.

Dr. Veita Bland, renowned hypertension specialist and family physician, and Pamela Parker, PAD patient and passionate advocate for artery disease awareness, discusses the importance of early detection, intervention and management of CAD and PAD.

Interview courtesy: Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc

IT’S HEARTHEALTH MONTH AND AN IMPORTANT TIME TO TALK ABOUT ARTERY DISEASE.

[ALT, if live or airing before February 1: HEART HEALTH MONTH IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER AND IT’S ANIMPORTANT TIME TO TALK ABOUT ARTERY DISEASE.]

ARTERY DISEASECAN AFFECT MORE THAN JUST YOUR HEART AND EARLY DETECTION IS KEY TO REDUCING THECHANCE OF SERIOUS OUTCOMES.

HERE TO TALKABOUT WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CORONARY ARTERY DISEASE (C-A-D) AND A RELATEDCONDITION, CALLED PERIPHERAL ARTERY DISEASE (P-A-D), ARE FAMILY PHYSICIAN ANDRENOWNED HYPERTENSION SPECIALIST, DR.
