Designed to accommodate guided tours, the Wendat people’s long house is more than a traditional dwelling. The tourist offer in Wendake now includes a number of activities at the long house site, such as the building of a birch-bark canoe by a Huron-Wendat craftsman or listening to Wendat myths and legends by a storyteller while enjoying Labrador tea and homemade bannock by a campfire. Visitors can also spend the night in the long house under the watchful eye of the keeper of the three fires. The cost of the project is estimated at $350,000.</td>
