And the Amazon Books Editors’ personal under-the-radar picks, in their own words:

The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante: The fourth and final of the “Neapolitan novels” by a pseudonymous Italian author, The Story of the Lost Child is the finale to a fascinating bunch of books about life, love, friendship, motherhood and, oh yes, politics. Is it exaggeration to say that Elena Ferrante is our Tolstoy? Maybe she’s more like Trollope, with a bit of Knausgaard and Peyton Place thrown in. – Sara Nelson

The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood: This dystopian fantasy is about a social experiment gone horribly awry. In order to keep the unemployment rate in check, participants volunteer to go to prison. And no one need fret if penitentiary orange is not their color—it’ll be for six alternating months of the year, and the rest of the time they will resume their civilian lives. What could possibly go wrong? With echoes of The Handmaid’s Tale, this is Atwood at her chilling best. – Erin Kodicek

Submission by Michel Houllebecq: This is a very personal pick, as I’ve been reading Michel Houellebecq since The Elemental Practices was published in 2000. Houellebecq is not for everyone—unless you live in France, where he is a big best seller. I don’t consider myself to be a card-carrying Francophile, but he’s so atypical to the authors I normally read that I find myself looking forward to his books. – Chris Schluep

Star Wars: Aftermath by Chuck Wendig: Given Wendig’s electrifying writing and the setting of this book between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, I’m eager to see if there are any hints revealed about the upcoming film. – Adrian Liang

Thing Explainer: Complicated Stuff in Simple Words by Randall Munroe: On the heels of his best-selling What If?, Randall Munroe’s Thing Explainer describes how complex things work—using only the 1,000 most common words in the English language. The book will be fun. – Jon Foro

The Thing About Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin: Ali Benjamin’s debut is one of the best books (for readers age 9 and up) that I’ve read all year. Benjamin’s character, Suzy, is trying to make sense of a loss by researching an obscure but not impossible explanation. Suzy is endearing in her awkward innocence and her steadfast convictions. It’s a rich, multilayered novel beautifully told. – Seira Wilson

The mission of Inner Source Natural Health is to help each patient realize their greatest health potential using the least disruptive recommendations possible to stimulate the innate ability of the body to heal itself.
In December 2009 Inner Source Health moved from Syosset to Huntington, Long Island to provide a serene setting in which to administer our naturopathic treatments.
InnerSource Natural Health is staffed by the following Naturopathic Doctors and Acupuncturists:
Pina LoGiudice ND, LAc
Peter Bongiorno ND, LAc
Siobhan Hanlon ND, MS
Cynthia Hewett LAc
Donna Nesteruk LAc
Anne Williams, ND, MS, LAc
The Inner Source Clinic
Inner Source Natural Health was originally conceived in 1996. At this time, Dr. Pina LoGiudice met Dr. Peter Bongiorno for the first time while working in a laboratory at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, outside of Washington DC. There, they were both completing research pre-doctoral fellowships in clinical neuroendocrinology.
Both Dr. Peter and Dr. PIna had a strong love for natural medicine, and decided to forgo the conventional medicine route, and pursue a degree in naturopathic medicine and acupuncture. After medical school was completed, they realized their dream and opened InnerSource Natural Health, with offices in New York and Long Island.
Inner Source Long Island opened in Syosset in 2003, and is now located permanently in Huntington. Inner Source New York City is located in the Fashion District on 7th Avenue, where patients come from all around the tri-state area, and the world.
Inner Source Long Island
Our flag ship facility in Huntington was completed 2 years ago. It is 1400 square feet, and is made with eco-friendly materials, including eco-friendly carpeting and paint, and offers mountain spring mineral water, organic teas, and filtered air. It is a perfume and TV-free facility. Patients tell us they love to come early to simply ‘sit, sip some tea, and enjoy the calm.”
Inner Source New York City
Inner Source New York City also opened in 2003 in the same building as the Natural Gourmet School on 21st street. It’s current Seventh Avenue location is part of the New York Wellness group, a collaborative between naturopathic doctors, medical doctors, psychiatrists and nutritional healing practitioners.

David Levine World Peace Society offers new directions to alleviate some of the world’s most troubling problems.

To create a more just society is a theme that runs through all our writings.

Our unique peace plan can help prevent wars between nations.

We teach young people essential values that will be the foundation for their education and make them better human beings.

We believe some of our songs could deter drug abuse and contribute to the reduction of crime.

More prosperity for all is an often discussed subject, but we look for real ways to make it happen.

Many of our writings, poems, and songs further elaborate our ideas and implement our objectives. We not only want to state our specific ideas in very clear understandable language, but also wish to express them in every art form possible so that people can feel them emotionally as well as intellectually. We have already produced them in prose, poem, and song. But we also have in mind to present them in drama, dance, paintings, and any other art form we can.

Though we call for governments to follow some of our plans, we are not political. We are also not religious, but we are humanistic. In fact, some could even say we are spiritual. Most of our ideas and programs are based on the application of basic human values.

For thousands of years we have heard talk of peace on earth, but wars and crimes against humanity are still committed. Isn’t it time that new plans and ideas are looked at seriously by all who truly want a better world. – You can make it happen.
