Norwegian polymath and polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen was no stranger to “impossible” challenges. He led many expeditions to the Arctic, including the first to cross the entire frozen expanse of the Greenland interior, in 1888. Later, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian work in the wake of World War I, providing aid to thousands of refugees, prisoners of war, and victims of the famine in Russia. Nansen’s achievements prove that an “impossible” task is often simply something that’s never been done before. If we have the patience and tenacity to conquer even the most difficult goals, what was previously unimaginable suddenly comes into the realm of possibility.

God is with us! Christ is amongst us! He is and always shall be!

These ancient Christian greetings are so necessary for us all to embrace in hope and love, with a sense of deep concern and an unfathomable desire for peace, as the world watches the news reports from Ukraine and around the world concerning yet another threat from Russian leadership.

The scare and intimidation tactics with the presence of the armed vehicles and over a hundred thousand of soldiers around the borders of Ukraine combined with systematic cyber attacks at all levels of life in Ukraine can only be interpreted as terroristic threats that target innocent lives of Ukrainian citizens.

They seem to be instigated by an extremely low sense of self-esteem among the leadership of what has become the aggressor nation of modern times – which creates a very dangerous set of circumstances.
Ukraine – the geographic reality – with its own sovereign borders has always been coveted by neighbors from anywhere beyond those borders because of the expanse of her natural resources, especially the incredibly rich black soil, which earned her the name “the Breadbasket of Europe”, which produced the abundance of wheat that was shared with the world. It was and is this land that so many other countries have attempted to annex, dominate, subordinate and benefit from not only in modern history, but throughout the early Kyivan-Rus’ history.

It is no secret that Russia, under the guise of the “Soviet Union” wanted not only the rich natural resources, but just as importantly, a buffer zone between itself and the rest of the Western world. Further, Ukraine, as a blossoming democracy inspires surrounding nations. Therein lies the key to comprehending modern Russian and other earlier invasions. In seeking to control the land, the resources and the political system, hardly a thought has ever been given to the real people who live in that land. These people are the “nation” of Ukraine, and that nation possesses a self-identity that is impossible to annihilate.

Through centuries of invasions the “nation” was unimportant to the invaders. Thus, the “nation” bore the loss of millions and millions of victims to genocide, most atrociously under the former Soviet Union and its Holodomor. Throughout all this history of terror, the self-identity of the “nation” survived – in the hearts, minds and souls of the people. It is with the people that we are desperately concerned as we write these words. It is for the them, our brothers and sisters, that we ask you to join is in prayer.

We must beseech God in the Holy Trinity to protect her people from the horrors that far too many of their ancestors knew and perished from. We direct all our clergy to offer the following prayer during the Litany of Fervent Supplication of each Divine Liturgy. Further, we ask you all to make this prayer part of your daily prayers in your home chapels. May God hear our loving petition and soften the hearts and minds of all, within and without Ukraine during these dangerous times.

Ці стародавні Християнські вітання так необхідні для нас усіх, щоб ми огорнулися надією та любов’ю, з почуттям глибокого занепокоєння та незбагненного бажання миру, коли світ спостерігає за новинами з України та світу, про чергову загрозу з боку Російського керівництва.

Тактика залякування та шантажу за наявністю воєнної техніки та понад ста тисяч військовослужбовців біля кордонів України у поєднанні із систематичними кібератаками на всіх рівнях життя в Україні можна трактувати лише, як терористичні загрози, спрямовані на невинне життя громадян України. Вони, здається, спонукані вкрай низьким почуттям власної гідності у керівництві, що і призвело їх називати нацією-агресором в сучасному світі, яка створює дуже небезпечні обставини.

Україна – географічна реальність – зі своїми власними суверенними кордонами завжди була приманкою для сусідів з усіх сторін своїх кордонів через великі її природні ресурси, особливо неймовірно багаті чорноземи, які дали їй назву “Житниця Європи”, яка вирощувала велику кількість пшениці і ділилися зі світом. Саме ці землі намагалися анексувати, домінувати, підпорядкувати і отримати користь не лише в новітній історії, а й протягом усієї ранньої історії Київської Русі.
Ні, це для кого не секрет, що Росія під виглядом “Радянського Союзу” хотіла не тільки багатих природних ресурсів, але, що не менш важливо, буферної зони між собою та рештою частиною Західного світу. У цьому криється ключ до Російських та інших попередніх вторгнень. Додаймо до цього ще і реальність того, що теперішня загроза для тоталітарного режиму є реальність демократичного способу життя молодої нації, яка провела шість відкритих і спокійних президентських виборів, та веде подальші впевнені демократичні реформи. Прагнучи контролювати певні території, ресурси та демократію, навряд чи прагнення людей було взято до уваги, які проживають на цій територій. Ці люди є “народом” України. Хоча поняття “Україна”, як назва географічної території не така давня, як “Київська Русь”, “нація” чи народ цієї країни мають самоідентичність, яку неможливо знищити.

Протягом століть вторгнень, “нація” була неважлива для загарбників. Таким чином, “нація” понесла міліонні втрати жертв в геноциді, найбільш жорстоким під час колишнього Радянського Союзу Голодоморі. Протягом усієї цієї історії терору самоідентичність “нації” збереглася – у серцях, розумі і душах цього народу. Саме про “народ”– людство – ми відчайдушно стурбовані, коли пишемо ці слова. Саме за “народ – наших братів і сестер, наших людей” ми просимо вас приєднатися до молитви.

Ми повинні благати Бога в Пресвятій Трійці, щоб захистив свій народ від жахіття, яких зазнали, і від яких вмирали занадто багато їхніх предків. Просимо всіх вас приєднатися до нас у цій молитві, яку ми доручаємо всьому духовенству виголошувати під час Потрійної Єктенії за кожною Божественною Літургію. Крім того, ми просимо всіх вас мовити цю молитву у ваших щоденних молитвах, у ваших домашніх капличках. Нехай Бог почує наше прохання з любов’ю та пом’якшить серця та розум усіх, як всередині України, так і за її межами в цей непевний час.

Dear Friends,

The recent invasion of Ukraine by Russia is illegal and will cause enormous suffering. President Putin lied to the world when he stated that Russia would not invade Ukraine. Did Russian diplomats who parroted this lie do so knowingly? Its diplomats are professional and very intelligent. It seems that they, too, were fooled. Yet, I could be wrong. Time will tell. In the meantime, neither Russia nor the US has pledged not to use nuclear weapons first in this or any other instance. In the fog of war, terrible things, unthinkable things, can happen. That is why for diplomats to lie is so serious. If words cannot be trusted, then bullets become verbs, and in the nuclear age, unthinkable things can happen.

Regardless of what specific responses the world takes to stop and reverse this conduct, it is imperative that there be unity of purpose and outrage. Nations that abstained from supporting Security Council condemnation are asked to rethink and change. Political leaders who, for personal or partisan purposes, express explicit or implicit support for Russia’s Crimes Against the Peace should be ashamed and, where they fail to respond to the voice of conscience, we should shame them.

GSI has issued a formal statement to clarify some of the reasons why for the safety and security of the world and especially for the people of Ukraine, all of our voices for the rule of law, justice, and peace must be raised together now.

LOCATIONS/VENUES: Great Lawn in Central Park 9/10/11, Times Square 9/21, to the borders of war zones, to the streets of violence, to creating water wells in Afghanistan and feeding children.   

More Peace on Earth will occur and our sponsors/patrons/benefactors for sure will be recognized for it. A Moment for Silence at 12 noon will occur on September 21, then after a World Peace Day Party.

BROADCAST AND PRESS:  4 Press Events Live to the World, with a massive press and advertising campaign for the entire project.. 

7 Hour or 3 ½ Hour Live WORLD Announcement Broadcast on September 10 or rain date September 11 Central Park and 3 Hours in Times Square/Worldwide feeds on September 21. In addition to the Live Broadcasts there will be 7 One Hour Broadcasts or 7 Half Hour Broadcasts, plus many shorter segments.  There will be a show featuring each continent. Events occur daylight family hours and pre-recorded rolls in from the world

You can share your messages about your Social Responsibility, request donations for nonprofits you support on the screens with the Worldwide Broadcast/Podcast, Social Networks, Print and more from the revered GREAT LAWN IN CENTRAL PARK, 70,000 attendance for a celebrity concert event (Participants Below) with the creation of the world’s largest Human Peace Sign, billions worldwide viewing on September 10^th with rain date on the 11^th and in TIMES SQUARE, NY Worldwide Broadcast on September 21, 2022 (UN International Day of Peace, 193 Countries Unanimously Approved, 12 Noon Moment of Silence/Cease Fire and the 1 Times Square Ball Dropping and or Symbolic Occurrence, i.e. Peace Sign).

Additionally, there will be broadcast feeds from other worldwide events, especially from areas in danger, to see the Cease Fire Peace Day Truce or a potential killer turning in their gun. A Special Peace Lights Display in Jerusalem, Israel for all the religions (similar to our 911 Lights) and all the world’s people/animals/plants who live in Peace, is being discussed. 

·       Participants to date in our Peace Day Activities have been over 100 corporations, organizations, dignitaries and celebrities, UN Peace Messengers who shared Peace messages. We will ask these people to perform and or speak, i.e. Leonardo DiCaprio, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, Michael Douglas, Dr. Jane Goodall, Shakira, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Dr. Mahmet Oz, Dr. Deepak Chopra, World Peace Orchestra, Pope Francis, NY State Governor Huchul, Mayor Adams, City Council Brewer, Broadway Show Annie, David Lynch Foundation, Harlem Globetrotters, UNESCO, NYC Schools. As well as new talent who care about Children, Water & Peace TBD i.e., Matt Damon, Jay Z, Oprah, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens in Dubai, Alla Pugacheva Russia/Ukraine, BTS South/North Korea, Salvation Army, UNICEF, UN Human Security, Religions for Peace International, Global Security Institute, Colleges, High, Middle, Elementary Schools, Water Wells in Afganistan and more. Background on Good News Corporation: Paul Sladkus, who will oversee this event, as he has for 20 years is a former CBS and PBS Channel 13 TV Executive having worked on over 150 Network TV Shows including: All in the Family, Sonny and Cher, Carol Burnett, AFT Salutes James Cagney and Orson Wells/Frank Sinatra Performing, Love of Life on CBS and The Nature and Brain Series on PBS. After 14 years at the networks Paul founded Milestone Broadcast Corporation, MBC, in 1985 where the Chinese helped to inspire the multicultural marketing and advertising, and broadcasting company, with clients: Citibank, Delta Airlines, IBM, Sprint, US Postal Service, Western Union, Leading AD Agencies.
