NOLA to NOFO Announces Donald Harrison’s Second Annual Quantum Leap
Music Festival at Long Island’s Oldest Vineyard
Cutchogue, NY — NOLA to NOFO, LLC proudly announces the return of the
Quantum Leap Music Festival, curated and hosted by NEA Jazz Master and
architect of Nouveau Swing, Big Chief Donald Harrison Jr. The four-day festival
will be held from August 14th to 17th, 2025 at the historic Borghese Vineyard &
Winery, located at 17150 Middle Road (Route 48), Cutchogue, Long Island, NY.
Building upon the resounding success of its inaugural year, the 2025 Quantum
Leap Music Festival promises an unparalleled fusion of world-class New Orleans
music, North Fork’s finest food and beverages, and a vibrant cultural experience
unlike any other. Gates open at 3:00 PM daily, with live music performances
from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. This event is strictly for ages 21 and over.

“At the Quantum Leap Music Festival, NOLA to NOFO and I present a wide
stylistic range of New Orleans’ greatest musical artists in their respective
styles—from jazz, blues, and funk, to soul-drenched, dance-oriented jazzy
bounce parties. From traditional jazz and modern jazz with touches of soul,
to zydeco, klezmer, and other New Orleans music. This festival has
something for everyone and will expose festival-goers to styles of music you
may not have heard before, but you will leave loving. You can chill, dance, or
party, as this intimate festival bridges aspects of many of your favorite music
at the historic Borghese Vineyard & Winery in the beautiful setting of North
Fork, Long Island.”

Darius Harrison, also known by his stage name as “DEEZLE”, is an American record producer,[1] rapper and singer.

He was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. Deezle has garnered many industry accolades for his creative works—including co-producing Lil Wayne’s hit single “Lollipop“, which lead to a grammy win alongside Jim Jonsin.^[2] From this, Deezle’s credits, music contributions, and numerous artistic collaborations expanded significantly. This included co-authoring Drake’s hit “In My Feelings,” engineering Chris Brown‘s single “Gimme That” & “Graffiti,” producing Lil Wayne‘s hit album “Tha Carter III,” as well as sharing a co-producing credit with Kanye West on “Let the Beat Build.” Ever since his start as a producer, engineer and artist in the music industry, he has sold over seventy-five million records. In addition to records, Deezle has also made musical contributions alongside Donald Harrison to movie scores such as: Right to Return and Rachel Getting Married by Academy Award–winning filmmaker, Jonathan Demme.

BIO

New Orleans-born saxophonist 2022 NEA Jazz Master Big Chief Donald
Harrison Jr. is a musician/composer whom master musicians consider a master
of every era of jazz, soul, funk, and a composer of orchestral classical music. He
is also a genius, according to geniuses like Eddie Palmieri and Mike Clark. His
alma mater, The Berklee College of Music, awarded him an Honorary Doctorate
in 2021. In the HBO drama Treme, Emmy-winning director David Simon
created two characters to portray how Harrison innovated new styles of music.
He appeared as an actor/musician in nine episodes of “Treme,” in Oscar-winning
director Johnathon Demme’s film “Rachel Getting Married,” in Spike Lee’s
“When The Levee’s Broke” documentary, and Marvel’s “Luke Cage.” This
talented artist is the recognized Big Chief of Congo Square in Afro-New Orleans
culture and was Chiefted in 2019 by Queen Diambi Kabatusuila from the
Democratic Republic of Congo, Africa.

Harrison honed his experiences playing with Roy Haynes, Art Blakey, Eddie
Palmieri, Dr. John, Lena Horne, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Miles Davis, McCoy
Tyner, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Ron Carter, Billy Cobham, Chuck Loeb, The
Headhunters, hip-hop legends Digable Planets, Guru’s Jazzmatazz, The
Notorious BIG, and The Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He has performed with
over 200 jazz masters and innovated three influential styles of jazz. At nineteen,
Harrison created a modern jazz take on the New Orleans second-line tradition
and introduced his composition, New York Second-Line, to the jazz world in
1979. By the mid-80s, he created Nouveau Swing, a distinctive sound that
blended the swing beat of modern jazz with hip-hop, funk, and soul music. In the
’90s, Harrison recorded hits in the smooth jazz genre. He began exploring music
through the lens of quantum physics in 2000. With quantum jazz, Harrison
expanded music from a two-dimensional state into a four-dimensional state.
Harrison mentored artists as diverse as Christian Scott, Darius Deezle Harrison,
Johnathon Batiste, Esperanza Spaulding, Trombone Shorty, and The Notorious
Big.

In 2024, Harrison will perform and release his recordings "Magic Touch,"
"Congo Square Suite," and" The Art of Passion" from his Omniverse Music
multi-genre singles concept.

AFRICA RISING” is the fifth release from noted smooth jazz sax leader ANDRE WARD on the Gallery Entertainment/Orpheus Enterprises label. The Chicago native brings together originals and remakes, each with their own distinct flavor. From the hip-hop flavored single, “Casualty Of Love” (with vocalist K’Jon), to the upbeat, brassy remake of Stevie Wonder’s “Do I Do.” Andre covers many musical palates.

Born and raised in the Windy City, Andre cites his hometown’s longtime jazz and R&B legacy as an inspiration for his music and career. “My favorite band will always be Earth Wind & Fire, which was founded by Maurice White – who came out of Chicago with his brother, Verdine” says Ward. “When they had the Phenix Horns and the departed Don Myrick on saxophone, that really motivated me to play the sax. I actually started out as a drummer then the trumpet until finally the alto sax – all thanks to an after school program that encouraged kids to learn to play musical instruments.”

Andre went on to Tennessee State University in Nashville, where he formed the quartet Act IV – which won a national contest sponsored by Budweiser to record a single “The Pulse”. From there he attended the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston – a city where he remains to this day. “My goal was to earn my degree from Berklee, then move on to NYC for gigs and session work, “Andre explains. “However, what wound up happening is I was getting a lot of live music work, just in the Boston area alone! Plus, in 1990, fellow Berklee alum Lalah Hathaway invited me to be part of her touring band when she released her debut album on Virgin Records. This led to backing hit makers such as Will Downing, then Freddie Jackson for nine years – four of which as his touring band’s musical director.”

The time with Freddie Jackson resulted in Andre drawing attention from Hush Productions, with whom Jackson had his deal with Capitol Records. Ward – “Hush started a partnership with Morgan Creek Records, where I recorded my first solo single, ‘Everything I Do (I Do For You) – a remake of Bryan Adams’ #1 pop hit. My version was a smash on the smooth jazz charts but then Morgan Creek was shut down soon after. So for the next few years I became a music educator in the Boston public school system. Fast-forward, I was offered a deal from the Huggins brothers (Charles and Beau).”

Ward’s releases “Feelin’ You”, “Steppin’ Up” and “Crystal City” were all Top 10 Contemporary Jazz Albums with “Caution” going to #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts. “AFRICA RISING” will soon be joining the ranks. Andre pays tribute to the sound of Earth Wind & Fire with the tune “Secret Place” (with Chantel Hampton on vocals) and tips his hat to fellow Chicagoans the Emotions with his take on their classic “Don’t Ask My Neighbors”. With the single, “Casualty Of Love” with singer/songwriter K’Jon – “We’ve been trying to work together for some time but he had commitments to fulfill for the label. Finally, K’Jon sent over the instrumental track for ‘Casualty Of Love’ and I immediately liked it. What makes this song special is lyrically the story is about the belief of love on a positive note – which is missing in many new tunes out there now. ‘Casualty Of Love’ is about the benefits of love and how it makes life better…puts a positive spin on being a prisoner of love.

Andre now has a new single from the “AFRICA RISING” release, a remake of Sade’s “Kiss of Life” As to why taking on that 90’s classic – “Who doesn’t love Sade! Her catalog is full of wonderful gems and I wanted to give the song my own spin.

It is Andre Ward’s hope that listeners will not only enjoy “AFRICA RISING” but will also find some hope and inspiration. “Africa is a force in the world which inspire those to have a vision and belief in positive things to come, to have hope for the future generations. Not only economically but as far as how driven folks from the motherland are in business and life,” exclaims Andre. “As we as a people are still emerging from the pandemic, through my music we can look to Africa as a driving force to keep us moving forward in life.”
