“After being with the same person for over three decades, I found my life upside down, dating again after the age of 65,” says Rogow, a teacher, playwright, poet, and translator. “I went on over 75 first dates and tried every-which-way to meet someone that I could feel a loving connection with. Luckily, I did, but it was not easy.” Rogow adds: “I didn’t succeed in finding a long-term partner by dating online. I finally met my current partner through our mutual interest in French literature. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Zack Rogow is the author, editor or translator of more than 20 books and plays. Nominated three times for the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, his previous nine collections of poetry include Irreverent Litanies, Talking with the Radio: poems inspired by jazz and popular music, and The Number Before Infinity. His memoir, Hugging My Father’s Ghost, was released in 2024. Zack’s co-authored play, Colette Uncensored, had its first staged reading at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and later ran in London, Indonesia, Catalonia, San Francisco, and Portland. His blog, Advice for Writers, features more than 300 posts. He has received the PEN/Book-of-the-Month Club Translation Prize, the Northern California Book Reviewers Award in Translation, and the Celestine Award for Poetry. He also edited the anthology The Face of Poetry (University of California Press).

His dad, Lee Rogow, was a widely published writer and man-about-town in Manhattan in the 1950s, before dying tragically in an airplane crash when he was three years old. Zack writes about this in his memoir, Hugging My Father’s Ghost.

World’s First Parasailing Trick Shot Happens off Coast of Jersey Shore
(July 31, 2019 – Wildwood, NJ) – Leading up to four games in Wildwood, NJ, Harlem Globetrotters star Zeus McClurkin made history with the first ever trick shot from a parasail. The incredible video below was released minutes ago and is approved for media (courtesy Harlem Globetrotters).
MORE INFO: In the video, Zeus is seen parasailing in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Wildwood, NJ, when he radios for a second boat to travel under him with a basketball hoop. Flying over 100-feet above, Zeus nails the shot despite the wind and waves. He followed up the parasailing shots with two more shots from one boat to another.

“I just hit one of my toughest trick shots ever,” said McClurkin on the boat ride back to the dock. “Today, I faced my toughest defense ever: waves, wind, and math.”

Zeus continues a summertime tradition in Wildwood with his unprecedented trick shot. His teammate Bull Bullard made a shot on the Skycoaster ride at Morey’s Piers in 2016, from a helicopter above the beach in 2017, and via an airplane in 2018.

The Harlem Globetrotters will play four games at the Wildwoods Convention Center from Wednesday, Aug. 14 through Saturday, Aug. 17. They will continue their summer tour with two games on Sunday, Aug. 18 in Blue Bell, PA, before travelling to Arizona and Nevada later in the month. Bull is no stranger to overcoming obstacles while growing up in the foster care system in Detroit, MI. As a teenager, his foster mom encouraged him to play basketball as a way to avoid the criminal activity in his neighborhood. He is now one of the most popular Harlem Globetrotters and regular competitor on American Ninja Warrior.
