Dear Friends and Members,

The “Thought for the Day” was submitted by Aisha Cahn in a wonderful, caring WhatsApp group of kind people. These young children holding up a slipper and laughing and playing with no shoes, but with each other, are happy and sad at the same time, for me. While we see the simplicity in playing with a slipper or a rock or a tree branch, we also see the sadness that the children don’t have a phone camera to take that picture that they can keep forever with our new technology…on the other hand our memory, our smells, our love, our energy at any given moment is strongest and can’t be captured with a camera, or AI.

Let’s share and applaud these children’s happiness in this photo and pray they do get a camera to communicate with the world or use as a safety device. There is more than enough for everyone on MOTHER EARTH TO HAVE A PHONE, TO HAVE A MEAL, AND TO HAVE A ROOF OVER THEIR HEAD, CLEAN WATER AND MORE…

LET’S ORGANIZE AS ONE WORLD FOR ALL, as that is what we are, ONE WORLD.

About the Author

Mark was born and raised in Rochester, New York. He received his BS degree in Finance from Boston College and an MBA in Marketing from Tulane University. He worked for IBM for 13 years, before forming a New Orleans-based Internet Service Provider (ISP) and also starting and supporting several other successful business ventures and consulting groups.

Mark served for 10 years as President of the Louisiana Technology Council (LTC), assisting with the technology development of Louisiana. American Heart Association Shares the Most Common Mistakes and 7 Simple Tips for an Accurate Reading

Measuring blood pressure is one of the most common procedures performed at a medical office. Yet, studies have shown that numerous mistakes are made when taking readings.

For example, if you’ve ever had a conversation while getting checked you may have added an additional 10-15 mm Hg to a measurement. Having a full bladder can tack on 10-15 mm Hg, while putting the cuff over clothing, rather than a bare arm, can add 10-40 mm Hg. These errors may lead to higher readings, which may lead to a misdiagnosis.

In this interview Dr. Michael Hochman, Spokesperson for the American Heart Association, shares the most common mistakes (whether taken at home or at your doctor’s office) and 7 simple tips to ensure an accurate blood pressure reading. Dr. Hochman will also talks about the updated high blood pressure guidelines and what to do if your numbers are now borderline. In addition, Marcus Whitehead, a police officer and high blood pressure patient shares how not knowing his numbers almost lead to serious health complications, and what he now does to stay in a healthy range.

Launched in the U.S. in 2013, Good Deeds Day has taken off with over 50 countries participating including Mexico, Panama, Chile, Argentina, France, Germany, Switzerland, Britain, Denmark, Finland, Portugal, Israel, Hungary, Ukraine, South Africa and Singapore. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world.
Initiated by American-Israeli businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison, owner of Arison Group, Good Deeds Day was first launched in Israel in 2007, and is a realization of the Arison Group Doing Good is Good Business vision. Volunteers will build side by side with Habitat NYC family partners and AmeriCorps youth leaders to help revitalize this neighborhood and give families a chance at a better future in a new Habitat home.
