CELEBRATES SINATRA IN LOOK AND SOUND STARRING BOB ANDERSON AND A 32-PIECE ORCHESTRA

ONE MORE FOR THE ROAD honors the musical legacy of Frank Sinatra and his tremendous contribution to the Great American Songbook. A tribute unlike no other, fans can experience Frank and his music at the peak of his career. The concert stars Bob Anderson, the number one singing impressionist in the world. Direct from Carnegie Hall, this captivating production will appear at Bergen Performing Arts Center for one night only, Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.

Anderson not only sings like Sinatra, he looks just like him, thanks to a complete transformation by Ron Wild, an Emmy award-winning makeup artist. In this 90-minute performance, Anderson is accompanied by a 32-piece orchestra playing Sinatra’s original arrangements and his most-loved song titles including I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Fly Me to the Moon, My Way, New York, New York, That’s Life, My Kind of Town (Chicago Is) and many others.

VH1 voted Anderson the No. 1 celebrity impersonator in the world––an honor that was also given to him by People Magazine. In addition to his exacting impressions, he is a highly acclaimed singer in his own right.

Anderson’s story reads like a classic novel. In 1973, he snuck into the Sahara’s Congo Room to watch a Nancy Sinatra rehearsal. During that rehearsal, Nancy’s opening act, the Everly Brothers, got into an argument and walked out. Enter 23-year-old Anderson. He told the musical conductor that he was a singer; with only a few hours until the start of the show and no opening act, Nancy’s producer handed Anderson a mic and let him prove himself. He did: Anderson went on in place of the Everly Brothers and played the entire two-week engagement at the Sahara.

Shortly after that engagement, Anderson accompanied Nancy to the Merv Griffin Show. That was -more- Page 2 Anderson’s first appearance on national television––and he received a standing ovation. So impressed, Griffin invited Anderson to his 50th birthday celebration. It was at Griffin’s party where Anderson started singing and imitating the voices of well-known vocalists. The crowd loved it. Cary Grant was sitting on the floor by the piano, saying, “This is really amazing; I have never seen anything like this!” Anderson soon became a regular on talk and variety shows, with more than 200 appearances on television networks and shows including Showtime, HBO, the Mike Douglas show, Merv Griffin, Late Night With David Letterman and The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson.

Anderson has performed in more Las Vegas showrooms than just about anyone. When Las Vegas celebrated 50 years of entertainment, Anderson was voted No. 12, between Barbra Streisand and Ray Charles, on a list of Las Vegas’ all-time-favorite acts. Anderson wrote and starred in the award-winning show, FRANK The Man, The Music at The Palazzo Theater in Las Vegas. Within weeks of opening, FRANK became the talk of the town and the must-see show. The running theme and spirit of every review was, “I saw Frank Sinatra the other night. I don’t care if it was Bob Anderson—I saw Frank Sinatra.”

“Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show,” which has stacked up rave reviews over the years, is a theatrical, musical production which recreates what it would have been like to see legendary icons, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop live onstage together.

“God sends the Rat Pack back to do one last show. They arrive in their prime but they are sent back to modern day so we get to weave current events into show,” said Miller who plays “Frank’s One Love,” a character based on Sinatra’s relationship with Ava Gardner. “Sandy’s father, Buddy Hackett, plays God. Frank, Sammy, Joey and Dean were all his friends and Sandy grew up with them. There is a lot of room for improv in the show, as it was with the real Rat Pack. Sandy is brilliant as Joey Bishop and is the comedy genius that has made our show so successful.”

Lisa has her own connection to the Rat Pack. Her father was songwriting legend, Ron Miller. “Every singing member of the Rat Pack recorded and performed my father’s classic standard, ‘For Once in My Life,’” Miller said. Hackett continued, “My wife brings her musical genius to the show, both as a creator and performer, which really sets our show apart from anything else out there,” Hackett said.

Sandy, who is working on a book about his father, “My Buddy,” to be released late this year, tours nationwide as a comedian and with his one-man show of the same name (directed by Miller), a live theatrical production about his close relationship with his dad and the ten years they spent touring together. www.mybuddyhackett.com

Lisa, a producer and singer/songwriter, is developing a new musical, “For Once in My Life,” about the life of her father whose hits, in addition to “For Once in My Life,” include “Touch Me in the Morning,” “A Place in the Sun,” “Heaven Help Us All,” “Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday,” “If I Could,” “I’ve Never Been to Me,” “Someday at Christmas,” “Everyone’s a Kid at Christmas Time” and many more. She also heads up her own music publishing company, LDM Publishing; manages her father’s vast legacy catalogue; tours throughout the country and manages the careers of her children, 18-year-old actor/singer, Oliver Richman, freshman at New York University Tisch School of the Arts and 13-year-old actor/singer/dancer, Ashleigh Hackett, a middle schooler, also a student of the performing arts.

Damone, whose smooth baritone led Frank Sinatra to famously declare he “had the best pipes in the business,” died at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla., surrounded by several close relatives.

Damone also received a call from his friend, President Donald Trump, at the hospital in the days before he died, his family said.

Damone starred in several television series, including “The Vic Damone Show” on NBC, and hit movies including “Kismet” and “Rich, Young and Pretty,” but the singer did not consider himself a true crossover star.

“I never thought of myself that way,” Damone wrote in his memoir. “That wasn’t my particular gift. My gift was singing.”

Best known for hits “You’re Breaking My Heart” and “On the Street Where You Live,” with over 2,500 recordings under his belt, Damone was part of the golden age of lounge singers who came to fame after World War II, including Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Dean Martin and Perry Como.

Damone’s first big break came at the age of 14, with Como’s help. Damone was forced to drop out of high school and take a job as an usher at the Paramount Theater in New York City, where he bumped into Como in an elevator. Damone stopped the elevator between floors and started singing.

He asked Como on whether he should continue voice lessons and Como said simply, “Keep singing!”

Fate intervened for Damone again in the summer of 1946, when Sinatra was playing poker at a friend’s Manhattan apartment, and one of Sinatra’s classics, “Night and Day,” came on the radio. Sinatra was astounded when the singer turned out to be Damone, live in the studio. Sinatra phoned the radio station and told Damone: “This is Frank Sinatra, and I want you to stop singing my songs.”

Damone thought he was being pranked and barked back, “Yeah, if you’re Frank Sinatra, then I’m the Pope.”

Months later, Sinatra ended up introducing Damone at a charity fundraiser in Madison Square Garden.

“I’d like to introduce to you Vic Damone,” Sinatra said. “This kid’s a really great singer. He’s got stardust on his shoulders.”

Damone was born Vito Farinola on June 12, 1928, in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn to Italian immigrant parents, Rocco and Mamie (Damone) Farinola.

Damone is survived by six grandchildren and two sisters, Elaine Seneca and Terry Sicuso. Two other sisters died before Damone: Sandy Boucher and Pia Romeo.

Damone is also survived by three son-in-laws, William Karant, Michael Woodard, and Joel Brown.

A son named after Perry Como, Perry Farinola Damone, died in 2014.
