This tremendous theater piece offers audiences the opportunity to peer into the lives of eight women who gave unselfishly to the world some of the greatest soul-stirring music, regardless of their personal lives. These “Legendary Divas” spent their lives pleasing audiences through their music, while deep inside they were going through hell trying to fit in and be accepted as women with dreams, ambitions, needs, wants and desires.

It is imaginatively packaged in the modern day story of a beautiful 21year old young black woman (Michelle Harris) and her 23 year old Jewish boyfriend Joshua Greene. The year is 2024. Michelle is a talented artist and a graduate of New York University. Josh is in his last year of New York University Law School and is being interviewed by major New York law firms.

They met at a college social gathering. It was “love at first sight”. They are deeply devoted to each other’s lives and involved with their respective careers. Josh is on the road to success as an “A” student in both undergraduate school and law school. Michelle is a very bright young college graduate having great difficulty getting her theatrical career off the ground. She has a callback to audition for one of the great famous black singers in a show.

Joshua wishes he could help but he can’t….until he comes up with an interesting idea.

He suggests that she go online and research these famous singers. Look at their videos…listen to their music. It will be a great experience for her. Michelle loves the idea.

As she begins her Internet journey the artists appears. They have discussions with each other about the trials and tribulations, they had to go through, to be recognized with the great gifts God had given them in the world of show business. The show is set to original music written by “Mickey” Stevenson.

The Musical travels back in time to meet these famous black superstars focusing on their trials, tribulations and determination …and yet it all happens in real time as the audience watches.

To enhance the story, projections take us to Paris, London, Hollywood and New York City. The Michelle character actually sends us to Detroit and adds the sounds of Motown music, too.

Mickey Stevenson is a member of the Song Writers Hall of Fame and was the first A&R Executive at Motown. He was intimately involved not only with the development of Martha Reeves and the Vandellas career, but also influential in discovering and developing the careers of The Four Tops, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and The Temptations.

Mickey also started Motown’s in-house band famously known as the “Funk Brothers,” and was always on the look-out for young writers who he brought to Motown including Ron Milner (originally a pizza salesman in Chicago) who went on to write the mega-hit, “For Once In My Life” — which both Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennet made famous.

Mickey Stevenson’s own “Dancing in the Streets” remains a pop classic that not only Martha and the Vandellas recorded but so did The Mamma & the Papas, David Bowie and Mick Jagger, Little Richard, The Grateful Dead and The Carpenters.

Post Event: Mission accomplished! This past weekend the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences filled children’s wish lists for this Holiday season at this year’s AAHS Toys for Tots annual toy drive at Columbus Park Mulberry & Worth St.

Chinatown. A big crowd gathered to welcome Santa Claus and his helpers for the biggest toy distribution in NYC! Joseph Cinque CEO of the AAHS Headed event along with a special group of people who helped make all the smiles possible, Robin Mui of the Sing Tao Daily Newspaper, Gary Kong of the Global Hero Foundation and Tony Park Owner of Angelina Bakery in NYC handing out delicious yummy treats, in addition to various sponsors, important members of the community, along with the proud USMC, NYPD and FDNY who assisted in spreading happiness and joy for families and children in need. A special thanks to an amazing group of Marines that accompanied Mr. Joseph Cinque at the event, GySgt Roberto Guadarrama, Sgt Alejandro Garcia, Sgt Robert Y Hernandez, LCpl lan C Roberts and Sgt Jason O’Neal, serving our country bravely. Sylvia have been singing since I could talk. When I was about three years old, I sang Paper Moon on station WEE in Miami. Sang on the operating table before they removed my tonsils. Currently, I am rehearing for a show at a local community center which will have performances in November. I am also in charge of the L.O.D.(Lakes of Delray) Melody singers. I was a soloist with The Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island which toured in several states as well as Brooklyn, I was on Concentration and got to sing a parody I wrote about the show. In my development, I am the spokesperson for the COP (Civilian Observer Patrol), Recording Secretary for The FunShine Club,I received a Lifetime Achievement Award Plaque in 2018 for efforts on behalf of LOD, Co-authored directed and performed in musical comedy shows. Some of the titles: Gunsmoke Gits in Yore Eyes, Flaw and Order, Circus Beserkus, The Happy? Anniversary, The LOD Boat. The Wizard of LOD. I love to make people laugh. I have been editor of in house news for Boy Scouts, my synagogue, Knights of pythiasI sold millinery and hats in Macy’s in the Bronx, sold Avon, worked as a theatre cashier, was a paraprofessional with learning disabled children until I went to college at 52 and got my bachelors degree in English and started teaching in a Junior High. at 60. For sixteen years, I entertained twice a week at Morse Life where my mom was a resident for seven years As part of the duo, Malkah and Shaneh, sang at ladies’ clubs, men’s clubs, Sisterhoods, PTA, hospitals, etc. I have been widowed twice, have three fabulous children from the first marriage. two accomplished step children from the second,* thirteen grandchildren, and four great grands. Because we moved a lot when I was growing up, I became very adaptable to whatever place or event was current .I have lived in six different states and many towns and cities from small to large. I will be ninety-three next month, good Lord willing and the creek don’t rise (southern expression), I am second generation American, unlike most people my age. My mom was born in Jacksonville, FL, my dad in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I was Chief Den Mother in Cub Scouts, troop leader in Girl Scouts, President of the Hebrew school PTA, Israel bond honoree, Hadassah Mother of Israel, membership V.P. for Sisterhood. did the Dolls for Democracy for B’nai B’rith program. I am young at heart but the rest of me is older. Any questions?
