The Southampton Hospital hosted its 52nd Annual Summer Party, An Enchanted Evening, on Saturday, August 7, 2010, with a sold out crowd of more than 1,000 guests.Summer party guests gathered underthe tents on Wickapogue Road in Southampton, New York, and raised a historic $1.72 million to support the Hospital. The event was chaired by Jean Shafiroff and honorary Jewelry Chairman was Tiffany & Co. The HonoraryCorporate Chairman was Barclays Wealth.Governor and Mrs.Patterson, Jenny and John Paulson were among the guests.

The sold out gala "demonstrated the depth of the community's commitment to our Hospital and its extraordinary staff" said hospital President and CEO Robert S. Chaloner. "We are so very grateful to Jean Shafiroff for engaging so many friends and supporters to celebrate the importance of high quality community health care."

As in past years, the eveningbenefited the Hospital's recently opened Jenny and John Paulson Emergency Department."Our Summer Party Chair, Jean Shafiroff, and her dedicated team of ViceChairs, has done an extraordinary job of engaging old and new friends ofthe hospital, raising funds and promoting the party, proceeds of whichwill support the critical services provided by The Jenny and JohnPaulson Emergency Department," said Southampton Hospital FoundationPresident Steven M. Bernstein.

Summer Party attendees danced to the music of The Alex DonnerOrchestra under a huge tent transformed by the imagination andcreativity of Tony Urrutia, and enjoyed an elegant catered dinner byRobbins Wolfe Eventeurs. Also featured was the popular silentauction and a raffle of fabulous and extravagant trips and prizes. Highlighting the dinner program was a compelling address by Jenny Paulson who dedicated the Paulson family's recent gift of $5 million in memory of her late father. The Paulson's gift enabled the hospital to nearly double the size of its existing Emergency Department which cares for more than 25,000 patients annually. Southampton Hospital is affiliated with Stony Brook University Medical Center and is a member of the East End Health Alliance. In 2010 the hospital was awarded the Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Award for the second time and was recognized by The Healthcare Association of New York State with its Pinnacle Award for Quality and Patient Safety.
