I do believe there are more good people than bad,

I do believe there are more good people than bad,
No matter the news we’ve lately had,
The pundits make a living from spreading awful news,
That leaves us confused and oh so sad,
That does not amuse.
However,
My friends and those I’m surrounded by,
Are lovingly concerned and would always comply,
With the kindness and respect we give each other,
The support we share as perhaps a father or mother,
Sister or brother,
But, this isn’t what sells on CNN or Fox News,
These are not the channels for us to choose,
For grownups and me,
I would rather see,
The Times Magazine about Sex after 70,
Well, sex sells too,
Don’t you agree??

LIVING COVID SMART COVID is wildly spreading around the world.

COVID is wildly spreading around the world, with the new strains being more infectious. It is time for individuals and organizations to take action rather than waiting for governments to provide intervention. After all, it’s your health and your loved ones’ life at stake. 

1. Rapid test kit: Frequent and regular testing is a key to prevent the spread of the virus. Just checking temperature is not practical. When you have a fever, it’s too late. People who are not yet experiencing any symptoms are also spreading the virus. Early detection leads to a fast and smooth recovery. 

With the rapid test kit at home, test your family members at least once a week and anyone coming in close contact with you. It only takes 10 minutes. Some people argue that the rapid test kid is not 100%. It’s your choice between 0% and 95% protection. Which one would you choose? When you regularly test, over time, you reach 99% accuracy. 

2. Masks: Masks are not a fashion statement nor are just to fulfill the government mandate. When you correctly wear the right masks, it will protect you. Check the filtration level and buy at least 95% or higher. You don’t need FDA certification as they tend to be more expensive and reserved for the medical profession. 

KF94, a Korean standard, KN95, a Chinese standard are suitable substitutes. If you are wearing it for a long time, a folding type is more comfortable than a cup type. Make sure they fit snuggly around your nose and cheek and under the chin, tightly sealing your face. Tighten or loosen the ear loop to have a tight fit. 

You can use high-quality disposable masks multiple times but make sure to wash them thoroughly with soap and warm water by rubbing between your hands and dry well. Hand dry under direct sunlight or use the hairdryer to dry and sanitize properly. 

3. Sanitizing:  Handwashing with soap and water is the best method. However, when not possible, use at least 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizers. 

4. Electrostatic Air Purifiers: Being in an enclosed space sharing the same air for a prolonged period is a high risk. Look for an electrostatic air purifier that kills viruses and bacteria by passing the air through high electric voltage, zapping them. A HEPA filter is excellent for allergens but not sufficient for viruses and bacteria as they filter but do not kill viruses and bacteria. 

COVID Vaccine

To vaccinate a large population, we need a considerable quantity of vaccines, syringes, and nitrile gloves besides more clinics, nurses, and logistics. Due to the shortage of all of the above, the administration is going to take time. In the meantime, please follow the COVID Smart rules above until at least 75% of the population is vaccinated.

CDC Expert Offers Advice
Cancer patients and survivors are among those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19 because their immune systems are often weakened by the cancer and its treatments. So, it’s important that people who were recently diagnosed for cancer, currently being treated, or treated in the past take steps to protect their health during this pandemic. This is especially important for cancer patients who are currently being treated with chemotherapy.
Tips for Cancer Patients & Survivors:
• Watch out for fever. Take your temperature any time you feel warm, flushed, chilled, or not well. If you have a temperature of 100.4ºF (38ºC) or higher or notice any of the signs and symptoms of an infection, call your doctor BEFORE going to their office or hospital.
• Know the signs and symptoms of infection. Infection during chemotherapy can lead to hospitalization or even death. Call your doctor right away if you notice any of the signs and symptoms of an infection, such as fever, chills, change in cough or new cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, redness, soreness, or swelling in any area, including surgical wounds and ports, diarrhea, or vomiting
• Clean your hands and ask those around you to do the same. Many diseases are spread by not cleaning your hands, which is especially dangerous when you’re getting chemotherapy treatment. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after you have been in a public place. If soap and water aren’t available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Avoid touching your face, eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and shared objects between use at least daily.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others to protect other people in case you are infected, and ask others to do the same.
• Avoid other people as much as possible (social distancing). Avoid leaving home as much as possible. Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet (2m) between yourself and other people. If you must leave home, avoid places where people are in groups or crowded. Have supplies and food delivered to your home.
• Use CDC’s Coronavirus Self-Checker to help you make decisions about seeking appropriate medical care
It’s very important for people who live with or take care of people with cancer to take steps to keep themselves healthy as well. All of their actions will impact their loved one’s health and well-being.
Tips for Caregivers & Family Members:

• If you become ill, immediately separate yourself from your family member or friend with cancer. If possible, stay away from their home. If you must remain in the same household, isolate yourself in a separate room if possible, with a separate bathroom. Make arrangements for someone else to care for your family member or friend with cancer.

Dr. Lisa C. Richardson, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC), discuss what cancer patients and their caregivers need to know to stay well while staying at home during the COVID-19 crisis. Dr. Richardson will outline the proper steps necessary to help lower the chance of spreading an infection to your family member or friend with cancer.

The event will be a celebration of a lifetime devoted to spreading the message of the value of peace, kindness and universal compassion throughout the world.
Oscar winning actor, social activist and UNESCO Special Envoy for Peace and Reconciliation, Forest Whitaker will introduce His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Grammy ¬nominee Aloe Blacc will pay tribute to the 14th Dalai Lama with a musical performance.“We are honored to host His Holiness the Dalai Lama at this crucial moment in history. With domestic and global challenges calling for newfound cooperation, we look for inspiration from His Holiness the Dalai Lama as a tireless advocate for compassionate action for our shared humanity. ” said Michael Trainer, Founder of the Peak Mind Foundation hosting the event.

“As His Holiness the Dalai Lama says, “Peace in the world depends on peace in the individual. Each of us has to make the attempts to find it,” quoted Kalden Lodoe, event co-chair.
