At the beginning of March, we grasped the global implications of what would soon thereafter be labeled “pandemic.” On March 7, The Stewardship Report published, “The coronavirus is impacting the entire world – including the world of philanthropy and international development. All of our global programming is on hold, but our social entrepreneurial ventures, including advertising in The Stewardship Report and onlining The Luce Collection should not be affected. The Luce Collection will feature over 1,000 family heirlooms in over fifty categories valued at just over a million dollars.”

Foundation V.P. Leads Mental Health First Aid Training
Dr. William M. Bauer has become a nationally certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid, a skills-based training course that teaches participants how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illnesses including suicide.

‘QuaranTips’ Launched to Support Teachers in Distance Learning
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our foundation, led by Board member Sunil Herath, has created a website called ‘QuaranTips’ to instruct teachers how to use technology for distance learning.

J. Luce Young Global Leader Publishes A New Book on Albinism
So pleased to get Lina Escobar’s new book on her work with people living with albinism in Africa. It is available in the J. Luce Foundation library if you would like to see it, but better yet, you can buy it on Amazon.com (ISBN 9798613122158).

Young Global Leaders Lions Club and Jakarta (Indonesia), our Luce 24 Under 24 Awards, a trip to H.H. the Dalai Lama’s Manjushree Orphanage in the Himalayas we support, and the opening of Orphans International India for Dalit (“Untouchable”) children in Bihar. It dual objectives are to offer microgrants and ‘spotlighting’ to individuals and organizations bettering humanity in the fields of the Arts, Education, and Orphan Care. The J. Luce Foundation is most active in the U.S., Afghanistan, Cuba, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Peru, and Sri Lanka.

The James Jay Dudley Luce Foundation, Inc. began in 2009 and was inspired by college professor Stanford Livingston Luce, Jr. who passed away in 2007. The Foundation publishes The Stewardship Report on Connecting Goodness (link). The Stewardship Report has highlighted/spotlit over 1,500 organizations and individuals uplifting humanity.
