Earlier this week, Henry Kissinger, a former U.S. Secretary of State and national security advisor, passed away at the age of 100. While he left mixed feelings on his actions over the course of his career, there’s no question that Kissinger had left an influential mark on politics

Kissinger was actually the first Jewish Secretary of State when he was sworn into office, which would later become a pressure point to the Nixon administration, becoming a key factor on said pressure with Israel when it came to withdraw from approaching Cairo and Damascus during the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

But the interesting thing is how Kissinger’s passing actually relates to current politics. Antony Blinken, also Jewish, now serves as Secretary of State, and is actually visited Israel this week to meet with leaders over the ongoing ceasefire in the war against Hamas.

The reason this comes up is because of the pressure that now comes from the Biden administration, though on a much different level than what Nixon’s did, in regards to the message they’re trying to convey. Not to mention the significance of their involvement in the 2024 Presidential election, which will no doubt draw both pro-Israel voters, as well as millions of Jews and Christians.

With us now to talk about Kissinger’s legacy and how it has these interesting ties with the modern political scene is Jonathan Feldstein, a key Israeli figure and founder of the Genesis 123 Foundation (based on Genesis 12:3). His expertise in what’s happening in Israel should prove useful with this discussion. We welcome him to the show.

One of the most innovative treatments giving hope to people with blood cancers such as lymphoma, leukemia or myelomas is CAR T-cell therapy.1
• CAR T-cell therapies are made from a patient’s own blood cells and use the immune system to identify and attack cancer cells.2
• These innovative treatments have shown to be potentially life-saving therapies for patients with certain blood cancers, like large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL), which is the most common form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma and can be aggressive.2,3
• However, awareness of CAR T-cell therapy among potentially eligible patients in the U.S. is low – only about 1 out of 5 are aware of the therapy as a treatment option.4

Michael, a small business owner and father of three girls living in New Jersey, was diagnosed with LBCL in October 2018 and was treated with chemotherapy which he described as “pretty aggressive.” His cancer quickly returned – only four months later – and he decided to participate in a clinical trial for CAR T-cell therapy. Today he is 3+ years cancer-free.

Dr. Lori Leslie, a hematologist and oncologist at Hackensack Meridian John Theurer Cancer Center in New Jersey, treats people with blood cancers and has seen firsthand their devastating impact particularly for those whose cancer returns. Dr. Leslie, who treated Michael with CAR T-cell therapy, is available to discuss how recent treatment advances like CAR T-cell therapies offer people like Michael hope.

Michael and Dr. Leslie speak about CAR T-cell therapies for cancers like LBCL and how eligible patients and caregivers can learn more about these innovative treatments.

CDC reports that an estimated 41% of U.S. adults delayed or avoided medical care during the pandemic.

And according to a 2021 article, breast, colorectal, and cervical cancer screenings dropped by more than 80% during the pandemic. While screenings have since improved, they have not returned to normal levels. These missed screenings mean people will be diagnosed at a later stage of cancer when it’s more difficult to treat, and experts have predicted these delays will result in an excess of 10,000 deaths from breast and colorectal cancer alone.

CDC urges Americans not to wait for symptoms when it comes to cancer, including breast, cervical, colon and lung cancers. The CDC Foundation and its Preventing Infections in Cancer Patients program developed a PSA, poster campaign, and a Cancer Screening Guide to help educate and encourage people to get cancer screening tests that can prevent or detect cancer early. Many of those resources are also available in Spanish.

In honor of National Cancer Survivors Day, CDC’s Dr. Lisa Richardson discusses the need for Americans to return to their routine healthcare appointments, cancer screenings, and cancer treatments.

Lorraine Silvetz, MSW, Executive Director of Global Stress Initiative under the auspices of the International Committee Against Mental Illness (ICAMI) announced, during the evening, their donation to Mommy’s Heart for one client to receive a month’s treatment for PTSD utilizing their non-invasive protocol, individualized transcranial magnetic stimulation (iTMS). This treatment, valued at over $12,000, is administered at a Global Stress Initiative clinic affiliate in Syosset, New York, five days a week, for 40 minutes each day and includes 3 EEGs or brain scans in the first month of treatment. In their experience, they’ve had 99% efficacy treating PTSD for the military, domestic violence and other survivors of trauma.

This is a civil and human rights issue. It’s too late for child victims, Kyra Franchetti, Thomas Valva, and countless other children, who lost their lives to their abusive parent. We must take action now.”

Assemblyman Travis Allen Recognizes Dr. Morry Waksberg at Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony. Dr. Waksberg is running for political office and speaks from the heart with his Good News

Dr. Morry Waksberg, the son of Holocaust survivors Jack and Ida Waksberg is recognized on the Assembly Floor during the Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony

Yesterday, Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach) recognized Dr. Morry Waksberg, in honor of his parents, Holocaust survivors Jack and Ida Waksberg, at the Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony taking place Assembly Floor.

“I am proud to join my fellow legislators in proclaiming Holocaust Remembrance Week. To recognize Dr. Morry Waksberg in honor of his historical heritage is the least I can do in observance of such a incomprehensible event” said Assemblyman Allen.

“I think the event was compelling and it was very moving to see how the elected officials understand the horrible experience of the Holocaust survivors. This ceremony demonstrated clearly that the true struggle is good versus evil, not of people of different religions, nationality, or color. I wish that all Californians were here to see this event. They would be proud of the empathy, compassion, and sincerity of our elected officials,” said Dr. Waksberg.

Dr. Morry Waksberg is the son of Holocaust survivors Jack and Ida Waksberg. Dr. Morry Waksberg was born on March 29, 1947 in a Displaced Persons Camp located in Shuttgart, Germany. One year later, in 1948, the Waksberg family moved to Detroit, Michigan where they founded the Michigan Holocaust Museum. He attended medical school at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, interned at Harvard Medical School and completed his residency at UCLA Medical School. Dr. Waksberg practiced medicine at UCLA for many years before starting his own private practice as an ophthalmologist. Now since retired, he has worked as an advisor to President George H.W. Bush, Congressman Brad Sherman and Assemblyman Tom Hayden on health related policy issues.

Honorees attended a welcome breakfast before heading to the Assembly Floor session where the observance of the Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony was held. During the ceremony, the Assembly adopted a resolution which proclaims April 7th through April 14th as Holocaust Remembrance Week. Afterwards, each honoree was acknowledged while seated at their Member’s desk, and viewed a screening of the Holocaust Memorial Project Video, which is a compilation of interviews from honorees from previous years.
