]]> On November 12, 2008 a concert event benefiting the Jerusalem Music Center (JMC) will be held at Carnegie Hall hosted by Lord Rothschild, actress Natalie Portman, and The Jerusalem Foundation. The evening will feature dinner and a concert performed by the Ariel Quartet, a group of young musicians in their early twenties, and pianist Roman Rabinovich, all graduates of the JMC’s program for outstanding young musicians, and accomplished musicians in their own rights. The Jerusalem Foundation (JF) is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1966 by former mayor of Jerusalem, Teddy Kollek. The JF works toward creating an open society by responding to the needs of residents and trying to improve their quality of life. The Foundation continues to pioneer change while at the same time supporting efforts to preserve the history of the city. Over the past 40 years the Foundation has created and nurtured over 4,000 projects in the city to create a vibrant, tolerant and modern Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Music Center (JMC) provides the music and music education in communities throughout Israel with a world-class advanced training center. The JMC was established in 1973 at the initiative of the great violinist and educator, Isaac Stern and Jerusalem’s mayor, Teddy Kollek. The JMC’s President is the acclaimed pianist Murray Perahia.
