MONSTERS WERE SCARY. AND THE PROFESSOR WAS SCARED. So he squished ‘em down into little balls, and created a safer world: where monsters are pets – and pets do what they’re told. But when these “Collectabuddies” begin to BITE BACK, the Professor and his piece-of-sh*t grandson are forced to battle their past conceptions of right and wrong to save the game they helped create.

This Ukrainian Benefit hits home for the Jewish community, as many Ukrainians are Jewish including the President Zelenskyy , who lost family in the Holocaust. Paul Sladkus, a believer in the Actor’s Temple states. “ The current WAR, instigated by Russia is a sad commentary on humanity in 2022, being involved with Peace Day for over 20 years as a producer, and whose grandparents come from bordering countries to the Ukraine I am very angry that this is happening and praise the Temple for this benefit. I personally am honored as I was able to invite the Choir of St. Volodymyr Cathedral, with Conductor Nataliya Vashchenko and Pastor Rev. Volodymyr Muzychka to attend and sing the Ukrainian National Anthem, the magnificent church is at 160W 82nd Street, New York, NY 10024”

He went on to cover the anti-Gorbachev coup, Yeltsin’s rise to power, independence struggles in Ukraine and the Baltics, and wars in Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.

“Sandy Hackett’s Rat Pack Show,” which has stacked up rave reviews over the years, is a theatrical, musical production which recreates what it would have been like to see legendary icons, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop live onstage together.

“God sends the Rat Pack back to do one last show. They arrive in their prime but they are sent back to modern day so we get to weave current events into show,” said Miller who plays “Frank’s One Love,” a character based on Sinatra’s relationship with Ava Gardner. “Sandy’s father, Buddy Hackett, plays God. Frank, Sammy, Joey and Dean were all his friends and Sandy grew up with them. There is a lot of room for improv in the show, as it was with the real Rat Pack. Sandy is brilliant as Joey Bishop and is the comedy genius that has made our show so successful.”

Lisa has her own connection to the Rat Pack. Her father was songwriting legend, Ron Miller. “Every singing member of the Rat Pack recorded and performed my father’s classic standard, ‘For Once in My Life,’” Miller said. Hackett continued, “My wife brings her musical genius to the show, both as a creator and performer, which really sets our show apart from anything else out there,” Hackett said.

Sandy, who is working on a book about his father, “My Buddy,” to be released late this year, tours nationwide as a comedian and with his one-man show of the same name (directed by Miller), a live theatrical production about his close relationship with his dad and the ten years they spent touring together. www.mybuddyhackett.com

Lisa, a producer and singer/songwriter, is developing a new musical, “For Once in My Life,” about the life of her father whose hits, in addition to “For Once in My Life,” include “Touch Me in the Morning,” “A Place in the Sun,” “Heaven Help Us All,” “Yester-Me, Yester-You, Yesterday,” “If I Could,” “I’ve Never Been to Me,” “Someday at Christmas,” “Everyone’s a Kid at Christmas Time” and many more. She has released several recordings and directed numerous music videos. She also heads up her own music publishing company, LDM Publishing; manages her father’s vast legacy catalogue; tours throughout the country and manages the careers of her children, 18-year-old actor/singer, Oliver Richman, freshman at New York University Tisch School of the Arts and 13-year-old actor/singer/dancer, Ashleigh Hackett, a middle schooler, also a student of the performing arts.

Harlem, N.Y., January 30, 2020 — Today the Apollo Theater announced it will screen the award-winning documentary Bakosó: Afrobeats of Cuba on Thursday, February 20th at 6:30 p.m., as part of ImageNation’s Cocktails & Cinema series. This screening marks the second installment in the Theater’s partnership with Harlem-based non-profit and will continue to be an ongoing quarterly event, which will highlight films that showcase the global Black experience. Bakosó: Afrobeats of Cuba, winner of the Best Feature Documentary at Belize International Film Festival, was directed by Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi, curator of the Annual Fist Up Film Festival and co-founder of Defend Puerto Rico. The screening will be preceded by a reception and live DJ set by Bembona beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by a post-film Q&A with director Eli Jacobs-Fantauzzi; producer Khalil Jacobs-Fantauzzi; and Mai-Elka Prado Gil, founder of the Afro-Latino Festival of New York.

Bakosó: Afrobeats of Cuba follows DJ Jigüe to his hometown of Santiago de Cuba as he searches for new inspiration in the form of sound. Through his discovery of Afrobeats, DJ Jigüe ushers in an original sound creating a new genre called Bakosó, celebrating the connection between Africa and Cuba. The film’s score, created by the founders of the genre, and stunning visuals highlight the technology, culture, and landscape that shape this Afro-Caribbean fusion.

About the Apollo Theater
The legendary Apollo Theater—the soul of American culture—plays a vital role in cultivating emerging artists and launching legends. Since its founding, the Apollo has served as a center of innovation and a creative catalyst for Harlem, the city of New York, and the world.
