Good News needs your help for the www.peacedayparty.org events for September 21, 2015. Please go to the website and participate, with your help we can get the whole world to celebrate International Peace Day. Zhen Joy Lin Dame of St. John of Jerusalem and president of World Water Rescue Foundation and Vice President of Good News Broad Cast was invited to watch Red Poppy Ladies’ production of Mulan which was invited to perform at three Olympic Games( Beijing, London and Athens) and Washington DC Kennedy Art Center, Sydney Opera House and Broad show last year and about 50 different countries.

The New York Times praised the show calling it: “Exciting, Sharp & Graceful.” The New York Times gave the show a score of 9.99 out of 10. The brilliance of Mulan is not only told in the story of how she saved her father and country but also through the themes of Peace, Harmony, Love and Joy to the World. This is shown through her filial piety (Chinese: 孝xian) , as it is called in Confucian philosophy and through the brave, courageous, and bold Red Drum which shakes the Sky, Earth, Water, Fire and even the universe to bridge ancient and modern times, and between East and West, forming a family. Dame Zhen Joy Lin is the representation of the modern Mulan, of which is a symbol of peace, love and joy. This correlates with the United Nations International Day of Peace.

Performances begin TOMORROW, March 3, 2017 for an open-ended run at New World Stages (340 W. 50th Street – between 8th & 9th Avenues). Opening Night is Monday, March 20, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
Directed by Markus Potter (Stalking the Bogeyman), the cast features Rob Nagle (“Castle,” “Mad Men”), Nadia Bowers (The Farnsworth Invention, “Orange is the New Black”), Christa Scott-Reed (The Pitman Painters, Relativity) and Jonathan Louis Dent (The Broken Record, Romeo and Juliet).
Church & State is a fast-paced, seriously funny take on faith, politics, and “The Twitter.” It’s three days before Charles Whitmore’s Senate reelection and he’s decided to finally tell the public exactly what’s on his mind, no filter. What could possibly go wrong?
The creative team is comprised of David Goldstein (scenic design), Burke Brown (lighting design), Dianne K. Graebner (costume design), and Erik T. Lawson (sound design). Sofia Montgomery is Production Stage Manager.
Originally developed with Artistic director Ralph Meranto and JCC CenterStage, Church & State was produced as a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere at JCC CenterStage in Rochester and The Skylight Theatre in Los Angeles where it received three Ovation Award nominations including Best Playwriting for an Original Play, Best Production (Intimate Theatre), and Best Lead Actor in a Play. The Los Angeles Times praised it as “gripping entertainment,” and “simply superb,” while The Huffington Post called it “powerful, humorous and highly contemporary” and named it one of the Top Ten L.A. Theatre Productions of 2016.

Bios
Jason Odell Williams (Playwright) is an Emmy-nominated writer and producer. His play Church & State was recently produced as an NNPN Rolling World Premiere at JCC CenterStage and Skylight Theatre Company where it was nominated for three L.A. Ovation Awards including Best Playwriting for an Original Play. Other playwriting credits include The New York Times Critics’ Pick Handle With Care (Westside Theatre, published by DPS), Baltimore in Black & White (the cell theatre), Someone Else (NC Stage), and The Science of Guilt (DR2). Readings: Primary Stages, The Blank, The Lark, and EST. Jason’s novel, Personal Statement, was optioned for a three-picture deal and he is currently adapting it for the screen with his wife and collaborator Charlotte Cohn.

Sami Gayle has been a series regular on the CBS hit television drama “Blue Bloods,” since 2010. In 2014 Sami appeared as the antagonist Mia Rinaldi in the Weinstein film “Vampire Academy” currently in theatrical release. Her other film credits include: “Noah” with Russell Crowe and Anthony Hopkins,”Hateship, Friendship” with Kristen Wiig (Toronto Film Festival Premiere,) “The Congress” with Robin Wright and Paul Giamatti (Cannes Film Festival Premiere,) Nicolas Cage’s daughter in the action film “Stolen” and she was cast opposite Academy-Award winner Adrien Brody in the film “Detachment.” Sami began her acting career as Baby June both in the Broadway and Off-Broadway production of “Gypsy” starring Patti LuPone. She appeared Off-Broadway in the plays “Oohrah!” at the Atlantic Theater Company and in “Family Week” which was directed by Academy-Award winner Jonathan Demme.
