Identity Films’ “Louder Than Words,” premiered as a Spotlight Film at the 21^st Annual Hamptons International Film Festival on Friday, October 11, 2013 at Regal East Hampton Cinema 1 in East Hampton, NY, with a second screening on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Regal Bay Cinema 2 in Southampton, NY. After the premiere, a private after-party hosted by the Fareri family for the cast and crew members was held at Sotto Sopra in Amagansett, a farm-to-table authentic Italian eatery.

The film, starring David Duchovny, Hope Davis, Timothy Hutton and newcomer Olivia Steele Falconer, written by Benjamin Chapin, directed by Anthony Fabian (“Skin”), and produced by Anthony Mastromauro’s Identity Films, is based on the inspiring true story of John and Brenda Fareri, who found solace after the death of their young daughter Maria, by channeling their grief into action and spearheading the creation of the world class Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center through their passion, dedication and fundraising efforts.

David Duchovny (“Californication,” “The X Files”) and Hope Davis (“The Newsroom,” “American Splendor,” “About Schmidt”) star as John and Brenda Fareri, with new-comer Olivia Steele Falconer playing the role of Maria Fareri and Timothy Hutton (“Leverage,” “The Ghost Writer”) playing Bruce Komiske, who helps the family in their long, emotional journey to obtain funding for the planning and building of the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in this touching film.

“Louder Than Words” portrays the Fareri family (John and Brenda Fareri, and their children, Julie, Stephanie and Michael) who instead of being gripped by loss created an extraordinary place of healing for thousands of ailing children and implemented a national standard for family health facilities. After Maria died, the Fareris learned that their daughter had made a special wish “for the health and well-being of all the children in the world,” as part of a school project. With Maria’s spirit guiding them, her parents, family and 20,000 other members of the local Connecticut and Westchester, New York communities worked together to create a state of the art children’s hospital, making Maria’s wish a reality.

Today, the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is a place where families are welcomed into the healing process as partners with the staff in the care of their loved ones. This hospital, inspired by Maria’s wish for children’s global health and well-being, not only keeps Maria’s memory alive, but has also gone on to help thousands of children and their families, while becoming the template for future children’s hospitals.

“John and Brenda Fareri are truly extraordinary people,” commented producer Anthony Mastromauro of Identity Films. “When I first heard their story I immediately knew it was one that needed to be shared.”

Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital is the advanced care pediatric hospital at Westchester Medical Center and is a vision shared by many people, including Brenda and John Fareri, who lost their 13-year-old daughter, Maria, to rabies in 1995. During the time that Maria was hospitalized at Westchester Medical Center, Brenda and John quickly realized that Westchester Medical Center, like many hospitals, was built at a time when families were not considered an important part of a patient’s care. WHAT: The Mental Health Association of New York City (MHA-NYC) formally launched the National TBI and Emotional Wellness Alliance at their “Bridges to Mental Health: A Celebration of Hope” benefit dinner on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at Cipriani 42nd Street. The event honored NY Giants Hall of Fame linebacker Harry Carson, creator of the NFL’s “88 Plan” Sylvia Mackey, and youth-sports concussion advocate Sarah Rainey.

About The Honorees:

Harry Carson’s 13-year stint with the New York Football Giants is one of the longest tenures in club history. The indestructible former linebacker served as Team Captain for 10 of his 13 seasons including the 1986 season when the Giants defeated the Denver Broncos 39-20 in Super Bowl XXI. Rated the #1 “Inside Linebacker” in NFL history according to Pro Football Weekly, Carson was named to the All-Rookie Team after his first NFL season. Subsequently, during his NFL career, he was named to the All-NFL Team 7 times, the All-NFC Team 8 times, and NFC Linebacker of the Year twice. He once made an amazing 25 tackles in a Monday Night Football Game against the Green Bay Packers. With performances like that he was selected by his peers to play in the NFC-AFC Pro Bowl 9 times. He is among the top 250 players to ever play professional football with his induction as the 231st member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Carson is the author of 2 books. Point of Attack was published in 1985 by McGraw-Hill, his second more comprehensive book reflecting on his career and life after football Captain for Life was published by St. Martin’s Press in August 2011.

Sylvia Mackey married her husband, Baltimore Colts Hall of Fame tight end John Mackey in 1963. After nine seasons in Baltimore, John played his final season in San Diego with the Chargers. While in retirement, he started to show noticeable signs of cognitive decline. In December 2001, at age 60, John was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia. Sylvia wrote a letter to then-NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue, pleading for a financial assistance for former players like her husband. Her plea turned into the “88 Plan”, named after John’s Baltimore Colts jersey number, which provides financial support to families of NFL players affected by dementia. John Mackey passed away in July 2011. Sylvia, determined to use his memory to affect positive change, has become a leader, raising awareness of dementia and the mental health challenges affecting former athletes. She is dedicated to making a difference in public awareness both nationally and in the Baltimore community. Her willingness to share her story has given a voice to those impacted by younger onset dementia and helped to improve how concussions are treated in both recreational and professional sports throughout the country.

Sarah Rainey is a student-athlete who plays soccer on the nationally-ranked VSA Heat out of Haymarket, VA. Sarah sustained a concussion playing soccer for her high school in 2010. As a result of her injury, Sarah was cognitively and physically impaired for over four months. Sarah made a complete recovery and used her concussion experience to become an advocate for concussion education and management in youth sports and school.

Sarah’s Concussion Advocacy Activities include:

•             Congressional Testimony before the Education and Labor Committee

•             Testimony before the Virginia Board of Education

•             NPR – Interview for national broadcast on concussions

•             CDC – Published “Sarah’s Story” on cognitive impacts in school
