Major General Jonathan Woodson assumed duty as Army Reserve Medical Command Commanding General on March 31, 2019, following his previous assignment as 3rd Medical Command DeputyCommanding General.

A native of New York City, Major General Woodson is a graduate of the city college of New York and the New York University School of Medicine. He received his postgraduate medical education at the Massachusetts General Hospital /Harvard Medical School and completed residency training in Internal Medicine, General, and Vascular Surgery. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Critical Care Surgery. Additionally, he holds a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.

major general Woodson has served in a variety of assignments from the tactical level through Corps which include Commander of the 399th Combat Support Hospital,330th Medical Brigade, and 804th Medical Brigade, Deputy Commander for the ArmyReserve Medical Command, and assignment as the Assistant Surgeon General for reserve Affairs, Force Structure, and Mobilization. His operational deployments include Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation EnduringFreedom. Additionally, Major General Woodson deployed to Kosovo as a part ofTask Force Medical Falcon IV.

In his civilian capacity, Major General Woodson is the Larz Anderson Professor in Management and professor of the Practice at the Boston University Questrom School of Business; Professor of Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine; and Professor of HealthLaw, Policy and Management at the Boston University School of Public Health. Heis also Director of the university-wide Institute for Health System Innovation and Policy. From 2010-2016, following his appointment by President BarackObama, he served as the Assistant Secretary of Defense (ASD) for Health Affairs for the United States Department of Defense. In this role, he served as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Defense for all health and force health protection-related issues and ensured the effective execution of the Department of Defense’s medical mission. His organization provided and maintained medical readiness for the medical services including and during military operations, those held in control of the military services, and those entitled to Tricare. He exercised authority, direction, and control over the Defense Health Program($50+ billion), Defense Health Agency, Uniformed Services University of theHealth Sciences, Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute, Defense Center ofExcellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury, and the TricareHealth Plan serving 9.5 million beneficiaries. During his tenure, MG Woodsonled the Military Health System through the most significant transformation in 5decades. For this work, he was awarded the Department of Defense DistinguishedPublic Service Medal (highest award given by DoD). While serving as ASD, MGWoodson co-Chaired several Presidential Commissions and Delegations. In 2015he was named one of the most influential medical policy leaders in Washington(Executive Mosaic) and in 2016 one of the Top 25 minority executives in healthcare (Modern Health). In 2017, the George Washington Milken Institute and school of Public Health and Black Doctors.Org named him one of the top African Americans in healthcare. Additionally, Savoy Magazine named him to their list of Heroes in Medicine.

His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (1 Oak LeafCluster), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 Oak LeafClusters), NATO Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, Expert Field Medical Badge, Flight Surgeon Badge, and the Air Assault Badge.

Under the Regional Law, PromoTurismoFVG, in collaboration with ERSA, is the chosen organisation for the Trail’s complete management and coordination of all members. Thereby making Friuli Venezia Giulia the only region in Italy, at this time, to have a single organisation managing the wine trail projects and undertaking all actions related to the operation with its own internal resources. To this effect, PromoTurismoFVG receives funding from the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and uses it to fulfil the purposes of the system and the operators that belong to it.

The “Tastes of Friuli Venezia Giulia Food and Wine Tour” project also brings another important change to the Italian wine tourism world: Friuli Venezia Giulia is in fact the first region in Italy to regulate (art. 6 of the Regional Law 22/2015) the administration of traditional agro-food production, and speciality and quality non-cooked production along with tastings during wine cellar visits.

The SVS aims to give tourists a true holiday experience, surrounded by the wine and food of Friuli Venezia Giulia, just like a genuine, authentic and quality sample of the “Made in Italy” taste. Among the targets of SVS are the creation of products and bespoke services for the wine-tourist, organised either individually or in groups, the development of activities related to wine and other local products, the implementation of promotional activities aimed at placing the offer in the market, the communication and promotion of a single receptacle that holds all of what the region and its partners have to offer, the integration of the SVS contents with PromoTurismoFVG’s sales promotion strategy and all regional partners’ strategies.

The key word characterising SVS’s first actions is synergy: in fact, PromoTurismoFVG has worked closely with a work group, composed of the regional food and wine world’s main players, to build a product that can easily be shared within the region. The fruits of our labour came from the
experience and work done when managing the previous tourist wine trail..

SVS, which involves the community as a whole, is not a physical journey but a single receptacle in which six different life experiences areprovided in related areas, which will benefit from unique promotion.
The following categories and subjects can only, and exclusively, join Tastes of Friuli Venezia Giulia Food and Wine Tour: wineries, i.e. cooperative wine cellars and private wine producers; agro-tourism operators with accommodation and board or one of the two activities; restaurants, trattorias, osterias with kitchen, restaurants located in hotels of at least 3 stars; farms producing and processing traditional food products. From 2018, membership of the following will be available: tasting shops, bars and other similar places with or without kitchen (bars, breweries, bakeries, cafes, wineries); arts and crafts companies which focus on items linked to the rural, wine and food world, food and wine museums, eco-museums and structures with inherent local traditions linked to food, wine and craft products; the environment, culture and infrastructure of artistic and cultural interests or parks; service companies (travel agents, tour operators, transport hire firms, cooperatives of tour guides) and professionals and entertainers linked to tourism, culture and local traditions

The “Tastes of Friuli Venezia Giulia Food and Wine Tour” participants benefit from promotion provided by PromoTurismoFVG, which includes web marketing, media relations, advertising investments, participation in trade fairs and specific marketing aimed at improving the identification and enhancement of structures. SVS will also have a logo and corporate image.
To ensure a high standard of quality, the required minimum qualities for participating are listed in
individual membership cards, by each category.
These requirements, along with other relevant details as to how SVS operates, can be found within the regulations that govern the project.

Dame Zhen Joy Lin is the representation of the modern Mulan, of which is a symbol of peace, love and joy. This correlates with the United Nations International Day of Peace.

In Celebration of the “Year of the  Horse,”  the Board of Directors of the 24^th  Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York (HKDBF-NY)  announce that this Free Multicultural Festival and Sporting Event will be held Saturday, August 9th & Sunday, August 10th, 2014. Featuring cash & prizes for competitors in this year’s US Dragon Boat Open Championship. New festival events consist of several Special/Invitational Cup races. Celebrating the anniversary of the World’s Fair, we are holding the World’s Fair Municipal Invitational race featuring various teams from our elected officials, Mayor De Blasio, Queens Borough President Katz, Congresswoman Meng and Assemblyman Kim’s office were invited to field a team as well as the NYC government agencies NYPD, NYFD, DEP and Parks Department.  Other special races include the Hong Kong Family Invitational, The Health Care Invitational and The Educational Invitational.  This year’s Corporate Invitational looks to be a good one, with ten Corporate Teams joining us to race for their companies.  The Festival will be held at Meadow Lake, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, New York rain or shine. Admission is free. HKDBF-NY, an international, multi-cultural celebration and sporting event, the largest multicultural Festival in New York and the largest festival of its kind in the U.S.  HKDBF NY keeps up the age old tradition of Dragon Boat Racing in colorful, custom made teak boats, which are virtual works of art gliding on water. Custom made by a small coterie of craftsmen in Hong Kong, weighing one ton each, colorfully painted with a Dragon head at the front and Dragon tail at the rear, the boats are piloted by up to 20 crewmen, including 18 paddlers, a drummer and steers person. For twenty-three successful years HKDBF-NY has attracted a diverse, multi-cultural audience of more than 50,000 attendees throughout North America. With a record number of teams participating 188+ well-trained teams, involving more than 2,500 participants competing from across the U.S. and Canada, this year’s festival is expected to be notable in its scale and fierce competition. With cash & prizes at stake for the US Dragon Boat Open Championships, the festival takes place over two days on the site of the 1964 World’s Fair, featuring events for the entire family. The opening day parade at noon on Saturday, Aug. 9th will be followed by the New York City Heritage Championship Races. The U.S. Dragon Boat Open Championship finals will be held Saturday/Sunday, with the teams vigorously competing for their share of the cash & prizes.  Racing starts at 9:00 a.m. and events last throughout the day until approximately 5:00 p.m. each day, rain or shine. The tradition of Dragon Boat Racing is an annual Chinese rite commemorating the idealistic poet and reformer Qu Yuan who drowned himself in the third century B.C. to protest against his emperor’s policies. The locals raced in their boats in an attempt to rescue the poet. To prevent fish and water dragons from eating his body, the locals beat their drums and splashed their paddles. This was the beginning of Dragon Boat Racing Admission to the HKDBF-NY is Free, Events take place Rain or Shine. Directions to the Festival by car – take the Long Island Expressway to Van Wyck Expressway to exit 11 south, then stay on service road to the Park. Parking is severely limited. Please take the MTA or car pool. Directions to the Festival by bus/subway –Again this year we’ve worked with the MTA to insure easy and safe transportation to the Festival site. Festival goers can use their MetroCard to take the #7 Train to the CitiField  stop and transfer from there to special MTA shuttle buses that will take them directly to the Festival site, or they can walk from the CitiField stop (about 15 minutes) or take the colorful park trolley to the festival site. Parking on-site is limited, you can park at CitiField and take the special MTA shuttle with your MetroCard or use correct change.

Major General Shavendra Silva, WWV, RWP, RSP, USP, psc, CR is a Sri Lankan general and diplomat. The current Sri Lankan Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, he was the former Director of Operations, Sri Lanka Army and the General Officer Commanding, 58 Division during the Sri Lankan civil war. Early life Silva was born on 22 June 1964 and had his education at St. Joseph’s College, Anuradhapura, Vijaya College, Matale and St Thomas’ College, Matale. At school he was the band leader of the western band, Captain of the first XI cricket team and Sergeant of the Senior Cadet Platoon, St. Thomas’ College, Matale. Silva is married and has two daughters. Sri Lanka Army Silva joined Sri Lanka Army on 1984 and he was the former Director of Operations, Sri Lanka Army and the General Officer Commanding, 58 Division during the final phase of Sri Lankan civil war. He was a highly decorated Commando officer, being awarded the Weera Wickrama Vibhushanaya, Rana Wickrama Padakkama and the Rana Sura Padakkama at once, a first in the Sri Lankan military history. He was the youngest promoted as a commanding officer. As an officer instructor at theSri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) in Diyatalawa, he trained the first foreign cadets to attend SLMA and went on to become its commanding officer. During 2002–2004 peace talks he took part in negotiations to open the A-9 Main Supply Route (MSR). With the resumption of hostilities he become the Brigade Commander of the Air Mobile Brigade and later took command of the famous 58 Division and was instrumental in the military capturing several former LTTE strongholds including the Mannar rice Bowl, Vedithalathivu, Nachchikuda, Mulangavil, Devils Point, Pooneryn, Kilinochchi, Paranthan, Elephant Pass, Dharmapuram, Vishvamadu, Suvandipuram, Thevipuram Puthukudirippu, Puthumathalan, Wellamullu vaikkal and the last inch of enemy held Karayamulli vaikkal in the mangroves of Nanthikandal lagoon in the Mullaithivu district. After the end of the war he was appointed as Director of Operations of the Sri Lanka Army and promoted to the rank of Major General. In 2010, he took up position as Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations as the only serving army officer to hold such a post at the time of appointment. As at present he holds the rank and title of Ambassador in addition to his post at the United Nations Headquarters.
