Over 5,300+ Actions Planned from Sept 21-Oct 2 to ‘End War, Poverty, Racism and Environmental Destruction’ as part of Campaign Nonviolence

Nationwide – Between September 21 and October 2, 2025, tens of thousands of people will participate in over 5,300+ nonviolent actions to protest violence, war, poverty, racism and environmental destruction as part of the 12^th annual Campaign Nonviolence Action Days.

Stretching between the International Day of Peace (Sept 21) to the International Day of Nonviolence (Oct 2), the annual effort rallies numerous national, international, and local groups to ‘build a culture of peace and active nonviolence, free from war, poverty, racism, and environmental destruction’.

Amidst concerns about gun violence, mass shootings, political violence, climate crisis, rising authoritarianism, war and genocide, Campaign Nonviolence brings people together in solidarity to work for an end to violence in all its forms. Local groups work to dismantle direct, structural, and systemic forms of violence using the tools of active nonviolence. Each group takes action on a different aspect of the broad vision, addressing issues such as immigration, discrimination, environmental destruction, health, poverty and more.

Campaign Nonviolence organizers affirm and advance the many viable nonviolent alternatives that exist, such as community safety teams, conflict resolution skills, peacebuilding, demilitarization, racial justice, restorative practices, self care, sustainability, renewable energy, living wages, civil resistance, and much more.

For 2025, people are invited to join the theme of “practicing nonviolence toward self, others, world, and earth”. The campaign calls for a range of nonviolent actions, including self care and wellness (self), community safety teams and violence de-escalation trainings (others), protests and visibility actions (world), and divestment from fossil fuels and weapons (earth). Two additional calls invite people to bring anti-militarism and anti-war leaflets to International Day of Peace events and to hold nonviolence teach-ins on Oct 2, the International Day of Nonviolence.

Is the Answer, World Wellness Weekend, Pax Christi International, Pax Christi USA, Catholic Nonviolence Initiative, United Religions Initiative, United4Peace, Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots, Pause the World For Peace, Pathways to Peace, and local Peace Day efforts like Peace Day Philly, Peace Week Delaware, and Arkansas Peace Week; and many more.

The annual action days highlight and uplift events such as:

– A citywide pots-and-pans banging protest in Burlington, VT

– We Keep Us Safe – Fostering a Culture of Care gathering in Whatcom, WA

– Intergenerational peace walk in Milwaukee, MI

– A virtual summit and strategy plan for ending fossil fuel proliferation

– Silent vigil for ceasefire in New York City, NY

– Bystander intervention and Islamic Nonviolence training in Istanbul, Syria

– Community violence prevention teach-ins in Lilongwe, Malawi

– Over 100 peace education activities in Tamil Nadu, India

– 100-day mobilization for peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo

– Nonviolence and peacebuilding trainings for youth at schools in war zones in Cameroon

Through Campaign Nonviolence, historically separate movements are joining forces to tackle these many forms of violence and to build a more just, peaceful and sustainable world.

Campaign Nonviolence was launched September 2014 with 230 nonviolent actions in every state in the nation. In 2024, over 5000 actions took place across the United States and around the world. It is coordinated by Pace e Bene Nonviolence Service, a 36-year-old nonprofit that promotes nonviolence. More than 5,337 actions and events are planned for 2025 with more expected to be added in the lead-up to Sept 21.

NEW YORK, NY – Mars Ocean Analogs (MOA) proudly announces the triumphant return of Captain Reed Stowe to New York City on June 15, 2025, concluding a remarkable series of ocean voyages designed to prepare future astronauts for the rigors of deep space exploration. Over the past six months, Captain Stowe and his diverse crews sailed the Atlantic twice, once through the Caribbean, and twice across the Gulf of Mexico, culminating in a historic journey to Starbase, Texas and back. This ambitious expedition underscores MOA’s mission to provide challenging training for the space community through real-world analog experiences.

The ambitious series of five back to back Mars Ocean Analogs began in New York, NY on December 22, 2024 in 16 degree weather and ended June 15 in a lighting and thunder filled rain storm. This is the only deep space training program where the analog astronauts have to prove their physical abilities and overcome real danger and fear that nest prepares them for what they aspire to face on a real Mars mission. Going to sea on a relatively small sailboat is challenging and the program was not designed to be easy.

Captain Stowe, a world-record holder for his 1,152-day non-stop voyage at sea (846  days without seeing another human), designed these expeditions to impart his hard-earned expertise. Through hands-on experience, he taught participants the mental and physical endurance techniques that su

stained him during his historic journey. “The ocean is a classroom for deep space,” said Stowe. “By sharing how I thrived in isolation for over three years, I’m preparing these crews for the psychological and practical demands of a three year Mars mission.” By completing this journey, MOA sets a new benchmark for analog training, proving the ocean’s power to prepare humanity for the stars.

The Schooner Starship that still holds the record for The Longest Sea Voyage in History and carries out the boldest Mars training missions is battered from many sea miles, but possesses timeless magic, wonder, and astounds all who come aboard.

One of the many benefits of Army Reserve service, is having the flexibility to pursue a Civilian career while also being part of something bigger than yourself. Soldiers can advance their careers and skillsets through various trainings and educational offerings. For example, Sergeant First Class Rodney Roldan, a Noncommissioned Officer, joined the Army Reserve to enhance his media and acting skills through the Army’s public affairs program. And when he’s not reporting in the field, recording radio shows, or working with special operations, Sgt. 1^st Class Roldan is on the big screen, working in television and film.

On Wednesday, September 4, join Sergeant First Class Rodney Roldan in celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with the Army Reserve. He will discuss the rich story of Hispanic Soldiers in the Army Reserve, his Puerto Rican heritage, and while also highlighting his Army career, his dedication to helping Soldiers reach their potential, and his passion for acting and documentary filmmaking.

SFC Rodney Manuel Roldan

AGR Operations NCO, 300TH Mobile Public Affairs Detachment

SFC. Rodney M. Roldan is the AGR Operations NCO for the 300th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment located in Fort Gillem, G.A. Prior to this assignment, he served as the AGR Training and Operations NCO for the 209th Broadcast Operations Detachment.

SFC Roldan was born and raised in New York, NY. After high school, Roldan joined the U.S. Navy where he served as an Electricians Mate on several sea going commands, to include the U.S.S Kaufman (FFG-59), as well as shore duty for special detachments for ten years, rising to the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. His Navy service included two sea service deployments in the Mediterranean and Arabian Seas, several humanitarian operations in the Caribbean Sea, humanitarian operations in the Ukraine and Black Sea, and a member of the inspection teams that enforced the blockade of weapons into Iraq.

After serving ten years active duty in the U.S. Navy, Roldan joined the U.S. Army Reserve in Los Angeles, CA while pursuing a career in performing arts. He attended Defense Information School at Ft Meade, MD where he became a U.S. Army Broadcast Journalist. Shortly after graduating from Defense Information School, he deployed to Afghanistan, as a field reporter for American Forces Network (AFN) Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Rodney also deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve as well as several exercises in Poland and Germany.

In his civilian life, he is a television, film and stage actor with current membership in both professional acting unions; Screen Actors Guild-American Federation for Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Actors Equity Association (AEA). Since he began his acting and filmmaking career, he has worked on several film, television, commercial, and stage productions that include, Imperium (2016), Fatal Attraction (2022-2023), Storm of Suspicion (2023), The Wire (2006), A Gifted Man (2011), and the stage productions’ M*A*S*H (2006), and Ghetto Babylon (2013).

Roldan’s education includes Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Communication and Web Media Design from the University of Maryland University College, and Certificate of Completion of Stella Adler Studio of Acting’s 2 Year Conservatory Program in Performing Arts, Master of Arts in Visual Communication from Liberty University and is currently working on his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at Liberty University.

In 2015 he began working on a World War II documentary project, which sparked his interest in writing, narrating, and directing documentaries. Since then, he has worked on several projects to include most recently, ‘Country and Courage’, which is a feature-length documentary that looks at the history of Veteran’s Day, the experiences of U.S. Army veterans, veteran programs, and the works of William Shakespeare in relation to the mindset and trauma experienced by soldiers. Country and Courage have won several awards to include a Communicator award in 2022, three Telly awards in 2022, and a Davey award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA)

Soldiers have increased opportunities to serve in real world missions working with local populations and integrating into larger, joint, and inter-agency teams. More than 87% of the force integrates military service with civilian careers, providing the Army with professional skills, education and expertise acquired in the private sector.
