Pumpkin Sail Concert 2020:

On Thursday, October 29, at 7:30 PM, Clearwater will recreate Pumpkin Sail’s magic in an online concert featuring Reggie Harris, Magpie, Dean Stevens, and Thomasina Winslow, streaming to Facebook Live and YouTube.

There is no admission fee, but we hope that attendees will generously donate to Clearwater during the concert.

Reggie Harris

For over 40 years Reggie Harris has earned acclaim and respect from peers and audiences alike throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and around the world. He combines spirituals and roots music, historic inspiration, and moving original songs, often in the themes of unity and social justice. Reggie is part of the solution. His marvelous music, his hard-earned wisdom, and his loving presence lift up any room he enters.

Magpie

Magpie is the duo of Terry Leonino and Greg Artzner. Award-winning recording artists, singers, songwriters, musical historians, playwrights, actors and social activists, Terry and Greg are proud to be, as Pete Seeger said of them, “…more links in the chain”, dedicating their lives and music to leaving this world a better place. “…simply, absolutely, unequivocally wonderful…” said London’s Melody Maker.

Thomasina Winslow

Sarah Craig, manager of the famed Caffe Lena, says “Thomasina Winslow’s unique blues path winds through Delta roadhouses, coffeehouse stages where singer/songwriters flourish, and then into the church pew where blues lovers seek the light on Sunday morning.” Her dad Tom Winslow wrote the Clearwater standard, “Hey Looka Yonder,” and brought Thomasina to perform on Pumpkin Sail stages as a teenager. She has since appeared at many Revivals and toured nationally and internationally.

Dean Stevens

Born and raised in Costa Rica, Dean Stevens absorbed the musical and topical influences of Central America. He returns there frequently and has become known for his humanitarian efforts
on behalf of refugees returning to their homes in El Salvador and Guatemala. He is a formidable creator and interpreter of songs in English and Spanish; his own material explores a variety of personal and social topics, paints sketches of people and places, celebrates the Earth, and annoys the narrow-minded.

Habitat for Humanity’s first-ever fleet of 24 Habitat Mobile Response Units is en-route from Atlanta to assist communities in New York and New Jersey recovering from Hurricane Sandy. Donated by Chevrolet, the vans that will be specially outfitted with tools and equipment donated by Lowe’s and Bosch in Charlotte, N.C., on their way to the New York metro area. With winter upon us and many families in need of help, these response units will facilitate Habitat efforts in communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Habitat’s “Repair. Rebuild. Restore.” effort to assist in the long-term recovery of communities affected by Hurricane Sandy is underway and will provide families in need with critical home repairs, rehabilitations /reconstruction, weatherization and new construction. Upon its arrival, the Habitat fleet will immediately be put into service in Staten Island, N.Y., and Union Beach, N.J., where volunteers will be working to help rebuild affected communities. On Thursday, the mobile response units will be deployed to a dozen Habitat affiliates in the greater New York metropolitan area to carry out extensive clean-up and repair efforts.

Kip Scheidler, Sr. Director of Habitat for Humanity International’s Disaster Response, is available for interviews next Tuesday to discuss the new Mobile Response Units and Habitat’s ongoing recovery efforts in the Northeast U.S. Following the storm, Habitat for Humanity International launched a multi-phase response to help affected communities.
