2020’s Happiest Cities in America

With March 20 being International Day of Happiness and with the aim to find out whether money really does buy happiness, the personal-finance website WalletHub today released its report on 2020’s Happiest Cities in America as well as accompanying videos.

In order to determine where people in America are most content with their lives, WalletHub compared more than 180 of the largest U.S. cities across 30 key indicators of happiness. The data set ranges from depression rate to income-growth rate to average leisure time spent per day.

• Miami, Hialeah, Fort Lauderdale and Pembroke Pines, Florida, all have the lowest depression rate, 12.50 percent, which is 2.3 times lower than in Charleston, West Virginia, the city with the highest at 28.90 percent.

• Laredo, Texas, has the lowest number of suicides per 100,000 residents, 4.78, which is 7.3 times lower than in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the city with the highest at 34.80.

• Fremont, California, has the lowest separation & divorce rate, 15.06 percent, which is 3.2 times lower than in Detroit, the city with the highest at 48.13 percent.

• Overland Park, Kansas, has the lowest share of adults sleeping less than 7 hours per night, 25.60 percent, which is two times lower than in Detroit, the city with the highest at 50.10 percent.

• Cheyenne, Wyoming, has the lowest average commute time, 14.40 minutes, which is 2.9 times lower than in New York, the city with the highest at 41.20 minutes.

Celebrates Diversity in Film February 22-March 3, 2018
The Festival showcases films from emerging filmmakers from around the world in all genres, with a special emphasis on highlighting the work of women and under-represented filmmakers. The 93 Official Selections are a diverse mixture of 13 Animated films, 13 Documentaries, 10 Feature narratives, 8 Horror films, 9 Music Videos, 31 Narrative shorts and 7 Web series. These include 21 student films and 32 first-time filmmakers. Filmmakers come from 31 countries; 40% of the films were created by women, 43% were created by people of color. Both filmmakers will be in attendance.
