Most of you know that for the last 21 years Good News has been involved with The International Day of Peace and we would love on that day that there is a www.peacedayparty.org everywhere and random acts of peace. Peace is an interesting word that has many, many meanings. Peace is NO WAR, Peace is no Domestic Violence, Peace is in one’s body, Peace is Health & Wellness, Peace is having food, shelter, FREEDOM, LOVE, HOPE AND so much more.

Peace is also taking care of MOTHER EARTH…Creating Actions for being Guardians of the Planet. Today the Good News is growing in corporations/governments with actions for ESG (Environmental Social Governance), CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and for all of us, we have termed, PSR (Personal Social Responsibility/Respect).

As we think about MOTHER EARTH, for years we thank Reverend Susana Bastarrica, with many other concerned citizens of the world, who helped create the Vigil for the International Day of Peace in Central Park, at the Band Shell, starting in 2002. We all have been involved since then. Susana included Ecology and MOTHER EARTH maybe 10 or so years ago into their theme…we also title our outreach as the International Day of Peace & Ecology because, as DR. JANE GOODALL STATES, “WITHOUT TAKING CARE OF MOTHER EARTH THERE CAN BE NO PEACE”.

We would like to share our Earth & Water Day Sizzle Reel with you once again, as we have edited in some sustainability facts about the country of Greece that we felt showed sustainability in action, i.e.

Astypalaia has been reborn as one of Greece’s smartest and most sustainable islands. Through a collaboration with the Volkswagen Group, the island has shifted to electric vehicles. Tilos has invested into its energy transformation, becoming the first island in the Mediterranean to be 100% energy self-sufficient, using solar and wind for energy. The cosmopolitan island of Paros in the Cyclades is starting to make waves for the fact that the island is almost entirely plastic-free.

For over 30 years Milestone Broadcast Corporation (MBC), the corporation behind www.GoodNewsPlanet.TV and www.GoodNewsBroadcast.com has been using their 1975 Volkswagen Super Beatle to promote Good News. Here is a photo from when we drove our VW Bug with Happy Faces on it in an International Parade on Madison Ave, NYC. Those young children are from Romania. We have been in many parade over the years with our Bug, who we call fondly “Irving” after our Founder, Paul Sladkus’ s uncle. Please become a member of Good News and we will give you a ride in the bug? However, our bug is hurting now and needs a paint job, as it rusted in Montauk after I fully restored it a few years ago, darn, please make a donation so we can get it painted and put back on the road.

Child Actor Max Page’s Mom, a Cardiologist & St. Jude Medical to Explain the Challenges Facing Families with Congenital Heart Problems
A new initiative by the non-profit Mended Little Hearts and St. Jude Medical will offer an important new resource for parents who need answers—and it’s being headlined by none other than the mother of “Little Darth Vader,” Jennifer Page. You may know her son Max from his appearances on the soap opera “The Young and the Restless” and from his well-known role as little Darth Vader in a Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial that has become a classic. Max was born with a congenital heart defect and received a St. Jude Medical pacemaker when he was 3 months old. At age 7, the child-actor had to have open-heart surgery because of his condition. The surgery replaced his pulmonary valve and repaired a hole in his heart. The valve should last another 10-15 years before it has to be replaced with noninvasive surgery. Now Jennifer is reaching out to other parents with the information they need.
In many cases, these kinds of problems in children aren’t properly diagnosed until it’s too late, as in the tragic cases you may have heard about high school athletes dying suddenly on the basketball court or football or soccer field. The new initiative will spread awareness with online resources from Mended Little Hearts and St. Jude Medical.
Page will provide the parent’s perspective and will be joined by a leading cardiologist and pediatric cardiac surgeon, Dr. David A. Ferry, on staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In addition to doing heart surgery procedures at Children’s, Dr. Ferry is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. Jennifer and Dr. Ferry will provide background on the new online resource, as well as information on how your viewers can learn more. The mission of Mended Little Hearts is to empower families with support and education about congenital heart disease. St Jude Medical, Inc. is a worldwide leader in research and development with products to treat congenital heart disease.
