Prestigious East Coast Gold Cup Final

The Greenwich Polo Club, one of the premier polo clubs in the world, hosted the East Coast Gold Cup Final. The tournament saw six teams, up to 16 goals, compete in the East Coast Gold Cup leading to the finale. Altaris and Ellipse Polo Teams competed in the high goal tournament. Altaris defeated Ellipse by a score of 12-11. The final was the club’s last match for the June and July East Coast High Goal series. The Greenwich Polo Club will next host the East Coast Open starting Sunday, August 29, 2021.

Established in 1981, the Greenwich Polo club is considered as one of the top high-goal venues in the world. Greenwich Polo Club runs 10 matches almost every Sunday through September.

Nestled in the beautiful backcountry of Connecticut, the Greenwich Polo Club has hosted many of the top tournaments in Polo, including the esteemed East Coast Open. It is also home to the acclaimed White Birch polo team, one of the most successful teams in history, having won the most high-goal polo tournaments of any team over the course of the past 25 years, including the US Open Polo Championship in 2005. Legendary teams and players including Mariano Aguerre, Facundo Pieres, Hilario Ulloa, Nacho Figueras and many others, converge on the club every year to compete for some of Polo’s most prestigious titles.

Each Sunday match is attended by thousands of spectators flocking from New York City, Fairfield and Westchester counties, to witness the highest caliber of polo while enjoying an afternoon with friends and family. Greenwich Polo Club has also hosted many dignitaries and celebrities and in 2013 Prince Harry chose Greenwich Polo Club to host the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup.

Although reflexology is not used to diagnose or cure health disorders, millions of people around the world use it to complement other treatments when addressing conditions like anxiety, high blood pressure, asthma, cancer treatment, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, headaches, kidney function, PMS, and sinusitis.

5 Effective Pressure Points For High Blood Pressure:

In traditional Oriental medicine, hypertension or high blood pressure is directly connected to blockages in the Liver meridian; therefore, acupressure can be used as a successful complementary therapy in managing hypertension.

GB 20: GB 20 0r Gallbladder 20 is one of the most dynamic pressure points on the body for lowering blood pressure. GB20 also call the “Wind Pool” is found at the base of the skull on both sides of the vertebra. If you slide your thumbs from the lower skull you will find 2 depressions on either side of the vertebra. You can activate this area by applying medium pressure at the same time for 1 minute or longer while you practice deep breathing.

By stimulating this area you promote a homeostatic state, reducing the fluctuation in high and low blood pressure, and assuage headaches. This area also provides relief from back pain, neck pain, fever and eye problems.

LI 11: Also known as “Large Intestine 11”. This is another area of the body that once activated assists in the lowering of high blood. This area is also known as the “Crooked Pond” and is located on the outside of the elbow where the crease in the elbow end.

To activate this point apply strong pressure for about one minute. Then switch arms and apply strong pressure on the opposite area. By activating this area you lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and heat. It is helpful for reducing high fever, treating skin diseases, tennis elbow, arm pain and stiffness, menstrual issues and blood circulation issues.

LI 4: LI4 or “Large Intestine 4” is an exceptionally useful pressure point that is markedly used to treat chronic pain, along with the treatment of high blood pressure, and various diseases. This area is also called the “Union Valley”. Located in the webbing between the forefinger and thumb, stimulating it clears stagnation, calms and clears blood flow over the whole body.

It also aids in boosting immunity, treating toothache, eye problems, fear, rhinitis, skin problems, TMJ problems, sinus and menstrual problems. Pregnant women should not stimulate this point as it can induce labor prematurely.

PC 6: PC 6 or “Pericardium 6” soothes the heart and the circulatory system to function properly. An extremely useful pressure point for lowering blood pressure. Located on the inner arm 3 finger widths from the crease in the wrist, the “Inner Gate” also helps relieve anxiety, nausea, vomiting, motion sickness, chest congestion, asthma, cough, wrist pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and headaches.

LV 3: LV 3 or “Liver 3” is a vital acupressure point for lowering blood pressure. Hypertension is closely connected to blockages in the liver meridian and stimulating this point helps in clearing the liver meridian. This point is also called the Bigger Rushing, and it is situated on the top of the foot, on the web margin of skin between the big toe and the second toe.

This point can be stimulated by applying pressure to the point using the index finger for 1 minute. It also helps to cure eye problems, menstrual issues, male impotence, nausea, vomiting, indigestion, anxiety, irritability, and insomnia.

Reflexology may be beneficial in restoring balance and harmony in the body and releasing tension. Practitioners believe that it helps facilitate a deep state of relaxation, calm the emotions, and produce a serene mind. Research studies support many of these benefits.

Previews begin Off-Broadway January 15, Opens January 19

Theatre at St. Clement’s will host the World Premiere of The Clearing, written by Jake Jeppson (Jerome Fellowship recipient) and directed by Josh Hecht (Drama Desk Award winner for Christine Jorgensen Reveals). The Clearing runs Off-Broadway from January 15 – February 9, 2014. Previews begin January 15 for a January 19 opening. Theatre at St. Clement’s is located at 423 West 46^th Street between 9^th and 10^th Avenues in New York City.

Performances are Tuesdays – Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm with a special opening night show on Sunday, January 19 at 7pm. Jake Jeppson’s The Clearing is the story of two brothers bound together by a terrible secret they’ve guarded for 18 years. The Ellis’s are a typical American family. But the intense and all-consuming love they share for each other has kept them locked in their tight-knit world for almost two decades. When a handsome stranger inserts himself into their circle, mother and sons must decide whether they are willing to break the bonds that have forced them together for so long. The Clearing is an exploration of the difference between loving someone and living for them by an exciting new theatrical voice.

His work has been developed and seen at the Orchard Project, American Theater Company, Ars Nova, the University of Minnesota, Axial Theater, the New Riga Theater (Latvia), and the Playwrights Center, where he is a 2013-2014 Jerome Fellow. Jake graduated from the MFA Playwriting Program at the Yale School of Drama, where he studied under Paula Vogel and won the ASCAP Cole Porter Prize.

Featured on October 18th beginning at 8 p.m, will be the world-renowned electro-acoustic SKYMUSIC ENSEMBLE, conducted by Moore. The program includes a world premiere, TO HIGH HEAVENS, and a recently premiered mixed media piece by Moore, THE QUIET PIECE, which includes a dancer and spectacular projections designed by Carlotta Bertolotto (Julie Taymor)

The October 19th concert at 7 p.m. features the world premiere of the dramatic song cycle GIRL OF DIAMOND MOUNTAIN co-composed and performed by Moore and Danish vocalist/composer Lotte Arnsbjerg. The piece is about a young girl who suffers sexual abuse and finds a degree of peace through love and spiritual growth. Also on the 19th the EKS jazz trio, led by Skymusic pianist J. Eric Johnson, will play a program featuring Johnson’s variations on works by Moore and the late Skymusic Ensemble violinist Leroy Jenkins. Moore founded the Skymusic Ensemble in 1980 and has been composing works for the group ever since.

While many Carman Moore works (for example the 1993 LOVE NOTES TO CENTRAL PARK performed in three park spaces with the Pearson/Widrig Dance company) have featured performance in alternative spaces using mixed-media, many of his works have been commissioned and played by world-famous establishment ensembles such as the N.Y. Philharmonic (Pierre Boulez), San Francisco Symphony (Seiji Ozawa), The Cleveland Orchestra (Isaiah Jackson), and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Recently his CONCERTO FOR ORNETTE was performed by The New Juilliard Ensemble orchestra.

These concerts offer a rare occasion to hear a diversity of Moore’s compositions and two world premieres.
