I experienced such a moment a few weeks ago when I received a letter from the Friends of DeCosta Headley (FODH).  The organization’s larger-than-life namesake, DeCosta Headley, wrote that he learned about my work with orphans, commitment to nurturing young leaders and other humanitarian activities – and wanted to honor me as Humanitarian of the Year at his upcoming annual gala. After meeting … [Continue reading...]

KalaRhythms, The Cycles of Change – David Katzmire

March 19, 2013 By David Katzmire Leave a Comment

http://kalarhythms.org/ Patterns are encoded in the human experience, encrypted in the anecdotal evidence of our behavior and decoded here in the map of time. The Machine Age is Ending and the Industrial Revolution will no longer define our future. Instead, the green revolution and industrial reforms are leading consumers away from the behemoth conglomerates of our modern world of iron. The Victorian Era has Long Been Abandoned as we continue to rise from the post mediaeval repression of the nineteenth century. Now we are developing a new romantic era with the emergence of gender equality and emphasis on wisdom. Military-Industrial Complexes No Longer Hold the Center of civilization's growing power bases. Replacing old competition among nationalistic hierarchies is a rising tide of … [Continue reading...]

BP MARKOWITZ HAILS ANNOUNCEMENT THAT WALGREENS, KEY FOOD WILL OPEN FULL SERVICE GROCERY STORE IN WINDSOR TERRACE

March 14, 2013 By David Katzmire Leave a Comment

“I couldn’t be more thrilled that Walgreens and Key Food are teaming up to ensure that Windsor Terrace residents, who were organized by leaders like Ryan Lynch, Lauren Collins and Chris Huntington, will have everything from A to Z—from aspirin to zucchini. When the community works together with retailers, my office and elected officials such as Councilman Brad Lander and Assemblyman Jim Brennan, the result is a comprehensive, efficient and organized solution that prevents Windsor Terrace from becoming a food desert and instead guarantees a one-stop shopping solution. As someone who lives in Windsor Terrace, I know just how important it is for this location to provide access to fresh, affordable food. Walgreens clearly has its fingers on the pulse of the community, and this … [Continue reading...]
