At only 16 years old, a junior, in high school, it was on December 11, 2008 when Amanda Suzanne Brownell tried to take her life in a bathroom at Del Mar High School in San Jose, California. This was a result of the bullying, sexual bullying, and cyber bullying she endured through MySpace, Facebook, AIM, and the 3500 text MESSAGES she received the month before her suicide attempt. Amanda, suffered severe brain damage, unable to speak or care for herself.
After almost 4 and 1/2 years Amanda decided that her job here was done. She was hospitalized with pneumonia and seizures on March 13, 2013, while her parents were in Hawaii on vacation. On March 23, Amanda did not want to be poked and squeezed anymore. She was done and did not want any type of medicine or food. There was a family meeting … [Continue reading...]

The Pursuit of Happiness

Jefferson's three examples of our unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Happiness is the state of Felicity.
It has been said that it's not how much we have but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness (Charles Spurgeon).
Lincoln added most folks are as happy as they make up their minds to be.
The top 10 things that come mind that make me happy are (not necessarily in the order of importance):
1) French Champagne
4) Winning (fun is more fun when you win)

Welcome Back! Welcome back to a new school year, to a new time in all of our lives, and to a time of even greater changes.
I always think back to my years of starting school each fall and remember the feeling of exciting new beginnings. A new chance to balance, focus and ground myself as I move forward into something new and exciting.
It does not matter if you have absolutely no idea of where you are going, what you are going to do when you get there or even what it is that you are going to do. The very act of stepping forward into the new is what is important. It is the Journey that is the Beginning.
Here's to all our new Beginnings. Let's make this a powerful year, full of love, laughter and movement forward.
Blessings, Blessings, Blessings, and Enjoy, … [Continue reading...]
THE GIVER- THIS IS A POWERFUL MOVIE ON WORLD PEACE, TODAY AND THE FUTURE. DON'T MISS IT.
The Giver. As I watched the Press Conference in awe for this outstanding movie team, I was fascinated with the author of the book Lois Lowry and the screenwriters Michael Mitnick and Robert B. Weide. How did they weave her book to make you realize how stupid war is; How Deceitful the Elders (the political leaders) could become and how wonderfully innocent and intuitive our youth are?
The result of this books screen adaption, which is drenched in "the light and the darkness of life" (As suggested by Marcello Padilla, Good News Film Producer), is that our youth SAVE US from OURSELVES, THE GROWN UPS. They see the brighter tomorrow and have the strength to make changes..BRAVO…to … [Continue reading...]

A sick man turned to his doctor as he was preparing to
Leave the examination room and said,
'Doctor, I am afraid to die.
Tell me what lies on the other side..'
Very quietly, the doctor said, 'I don't know..'
'You don't know? You're, a Christian man,
and don't know what's on the other side?'
The doctor was holding the handle of the door;
On the other side came a sound of scratching and whining,
And as he opened the door, a dog sprang into the room
And leaped on him with an eager show of gladness.
Turning to the patient, the doctor said,
'Did you notice my dog?
He's never been in this room before.
He didn't know what was inside..
He knew nothing except that his master was here,
And when the … [Continue reading...]

Easter (Old English Ēostre),[nb 1] also called the Pasch or Pascha (the two latter names derived, through Latin: Pascha and Greek Πάσχα Paskha, from Hebrew: פֶּסַח Pesaḥ), or Resurrection Sunday, is a festival and holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred three days after his crucifixion by Romans at Calvary. It is the culmination of the Passion of Christ, preceded by Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance.
The last week of Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains the days of the Easter Triduum, including Maundy Thursday (also known as Holy Thursday), commemorating the Last Supper and its preceding foot washing, as well as Good Friday, … [Continue reading...]
Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in all four canonical Gospels.
In many Christian churches, Palm Sunday includes a procession of the assembled worshipers carrying palms, representing the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus as he rode into Jerusalem. The difficulty of procuring palms in unfavorable climates led to their substitution with branches of native trees, including box, yew, willow, and olive. The Sunday was often designated by the names of these trees, as in Yew Sunday, or by the general term Branch Sunday.
Eastern and Oriental Christianity
Palm Sunday, or the "Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem," as it is often called in some … [Continue reading...]
