Barbecue Time Choking Hazard One of the joys of the warmer weather is Barbecue Time. A handy safety tip to remember when serving young children a hot dog, whether on a bun or not, is to first slice the hot dog lengthwise. Too often children choke on hot dogs because the shape can easily block the windpipe if not chewed properly.  Often children are running around the yard while eating this barbecue favorite which definitely increases the choking possibility.
