KARMA FUND BAND

September 21, 2012 By editor Leave a Comment

From Broughton, Massachusetts
Live @ Central Park Band Shell
September 23, 2012

KARMA FUND BAND will be performing for the International Day of Peace Vigil on September 23, at the band shell in Central Park, NYC. karma fund band is proudly partnered with Pathways to Peace, an international peace building, educational and consulting organization and an official Peace Messenger of the UN. At the request of Pathways to Peace, karma fund band has written and recorded “peace please” and look forward to performing it in Central Park in September. The band’s raison d’etre is to highlight through its music the plight of distressed regions that have been subject to war and resulting catastrophic damage. Many of the band’s members and collaborators have all traveled around the world to its many of its troubled regions and bring a powerful sound and message with their songs.

“We will focus on the peace process” says Jon Blond the founding member of Karma Fund. Selections will include an interpretation of the Arab Spring called “Get Out”, a piece about the new sculpture at Ground Zero, “Infinite Void”, “Bionic Man” a song about self-actualization and a look at global warming called “Polar Winds” that was written after Blond’s recent expedition to the Arctic Circle. Karma fund’s vocalist, Katherine Winston, brings enchanting, angelic and even sometimes a haunted feeling to timeless lyrics. The slide guitarist, Paul Jones, brings ambient cries to each piece in its own distinctive fashion. Highly acclaimed Icelandic bassist, Byrnjar Brynjolfsson, joins this set in NYC with a special guest appearance and sending drum rhythms into the central park airwaves is Adrain “cooks” Bennett.

The band’s music finds much of its origins in some of the most remote regions on the planet. Karma fund’s main song writer, Jon Blond has been exploring what he calls the “earth’s natural highways, the wildest rivers on the planet” by whitewater kayak for the last 25 years. Blond feels his ” floating meditation happens while paddling and channeling the power of water” this energy flow has provided the genesis of much of the band’s music.

Karma fund is very much looking forward to the New York UN Peace Vigil at Central Park on September 23. Mr. Blond will also be performing original flute compositions live at the UN on September 21 and again at Times Square (12 pm ) the time the conscious wave passes NYC and finally again at the blessing for the survivor tree near the waterfall sculpture at Ground Zero late that afternoon. The UN Peace Vigil at the band shell in Central Park on the Sunday will round out Karma Fund’s weekend performances in NYC.
