10 Years in the Making, New York City’s Wyld Olde Souls
Release New Album ‘Ensoulment’
NEW YORK, NY – June 1, 2011 – 8:00 PM
Female-fronted psychedelic folk rock band The Wyld Olde Souls return with “Ensoulment,” a lushly produced, brand new 14-song studio album on May 20, 2011, on My Generation Productions. The album will be distributed digitally through The Orchard and available on CD through retail outlets such as Amazon, iTunes, and CD Baby.
“It’s been over 10 years since our last release,” says singer/songwriter Ivy Vale. “That sounds like a confession, doesn’t it? There have been births, deaths, break-ups, marriages, degrees, reunions . . . we always thought we’d get this album out sooner, but real life dramas have a way of taking over. ‘Ensoulment’ is a direct reflection of our emotional experiences as we careen through life without the proper armor. Our songs are about unrequited love, nature, fleeting love, seduction, despair, love that will never be, self-realization, and ultimately letting go.”
Meshing medieval and Indian music with a passion for late 60s British folk rock, The Wyld Olde Souls’ 6-song debut “Poems From the Astral Plane” (on Parallel World, in 2000) gained a cult status among European collectors of the femme folk psych genre. In addition to fervent reviews from abroad describing the band as “mysterious,” “bewitching,” “classy,” “magical,” and “transcendent,” the CD is endorsed by Tom Rapp, founder of Pearls Before Swine, who said, “It’s good to see that someone is still exploring folk and psychedelia and doing it so well.”
This year, The Wyld Olde Souls shared the stage with Grammy winner Roberta Flack at the New York Celebrates George Harrison Concert, produced by Flower Power Creative and Sid Bernstein (the man who brought The Beatles to America). Steve Marinucci from the Examiner.com called The Wyld Olde Souls “a very intriguing quintet of vocalists & instrumentalists who definitely take top honors for originality.” Reverb Nation selected The Wyld Olde Souls as their Featured Artist of the Week, putting them in the Indie Spotlight. “The Wyld Olde Souls combine folk, rock, progressive and Celtic music into their musical pot ‘o’ gold with sweet enchanting vocals to grab you instantaneously and leave a lasting impression.” (Muzikreviews.com)
