The 3rd Annual Rock, Rattle & Drum Pow Wow and the 1st Annual Spirit on the Mountain Music Festival is a three day, multi-generational, family friendly, American Indian Pow Wow and music festival celebrating new ideas, community activism, eco-awareness, spiritual wisdom, and harmony though music. After the phenomenal successes of the first two Rock, Rattle & Drum Pow Wows held in Pittsfield, the third Annual is moving to the beautiful 600 acre Eastover Resort and Conference Center in Lenox and expanding to include the Spirit on the Mountain Music Festival, childrens peace village, camping, lodging, llama hikes, buffalo and all. There will be American Indian singers, dancers, drummers and storytellers representing various tribes, style and categories. In addition, there will be American Indian vendors, contemporary native arts, crafts and workshops, childrens arts and crafts demonstrations, and a special American Indian Art Market. Aaron Athey of the Mohegan nation will return to be our Master of Ceremonies for the third year in a row. The Host Drum will be Red Blanket; the Honor Drum will be Rez Dogs. The Lakota Honor Guard will post the flag, and carry the colors and eagle staff. James Etsitty Jr, traditional Navajo Medicine Man and Mary Blackmountain, traditional Navajo Medicine Woman will be our honored guests. Native American dancers and drum groups are invited to attend and will have the lush green grass of beautiful Eastover to camp on this year. We are excited to announce that an all star Native American musical line-up will headline the Pow Wow and Music Festival. The one and only two time Grammy award winning Stockbridge Mohican singer/songwriter extraordinaire, Bill Miller will perform on Saturday evening, August 30th. A Mohican Indian from northern Wisconsin, Bill Miller has long been one of the most admired figures in the Native American music arena and beyond. As an award-winning recording artist, performer, songwriter, activist, and painter, he’s been a voice for the voiceless, a link between two great and clashing civilizations. The two time Nammy, Native American Music Award winners, Indigenous will perform on Sunday evening August 31. Indigenous, a Lakota family, fast playing blues band ala Stevie Ray Vaughn guitar licks, has opened for acts like Carlos Santana, B.B. King and David Matthews. Indigenous offered straight blues elevated to spectacular heights by the fleet playing of the guitarist Mato Nanji New York Times. In addition, more than thirty of Berkshire Countys favorite local and regional musical performers have been confirmed including: Rev Tor, Bobby Sweet, Tony Lee Thomas, Domino Theory, James Durst, Xavier, Ras Moon and Monsoon, Gaia Roots, Wintergreen, Lulu and the Shoemakers, Mary Verdi, Juan Basilio Sanchez & Trio Hispanico, Berkshire Bateria, KDZ Drummers, Wakarusa, Linda Worster, Justin Hillman, Robin OHerin, Vicky True, Terry a la Berry, and David Grover, and others will perform for both children and adults. Music legends, JEFFERSON STARSHIP will make a very special appearance on Monday, September 1. This world renowned band will be celebrating the release of their first new CD in twelve years called, Jeffersons Tree of Liberty. JEFFERSON STARSHIP, a collaboration of celebrated musicians that plays from the rich songbook of its legendary forefathers JEFFERSON AIRPLANE and the original incarnation of JEFFERSON STARSHIP, prevails as one of the most critically acclaimed touring acts today.
