Southampton Hospital Holds 50th Annual Summer Party
The Southampton Hospital Foundation held its Hospital’s 50th Annual Summer Party, The Golden Gala, on Saturday, August 2, 2008, in Southampton, New York.
Chaired by Jean Remmel Fitz Simmons and co-chaired by Ann Grimm, the event took place under the tents on Wickapogue Road in Southampton. The Golden Anniversary Benefactor for the popular dinner-dance was Brooks Brothers, the country’s oldest clothing retailer and an American icon. Chuck Scarborough, veteran NBC news anchor and the winner of 28 Emmy Awards, was the master of ceremonies.
As in past years, the evening benefitted the Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine.
“The Summer Party is a remarkable community event that brings together the talent, dedication and commitment of a superb committee and supporters,” said Southampton Hospital President and CEO, Robert S. Chaloner. “We are extremely fortunate to have Jean Remmel Fitz Simmons and Ann Grimm chairing the event. Both women have a long association with the Hospital and we greatly appreciate their continued support and generosity.”
Summer Party attendees danced to the music of Alex Donner under a huge tent transformed by the creativity of Tony Urrutia, and enjoyed an elegant catered dinner by Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs. Also featured was the popular silent auction and a raffle of fabulous and extravagant trips and prizes including a one-week stay in a Paris apartment, diamond and gold earrings from Buccellati, handbags by Valentino, Michael Kors and Ferragamo and many more exciting items.
