This is our time to share the Good News of the world, receive, find, create and publish….. it’s our mission
There’s been a lot of talk about COVID-19 and the truth is we don’t know what
the future has in store for us. I hope and pray that it turns out best case scenario. That being said, business and commerce continues. Newspapers, trade publications, online media, bloggers, and social media will continue to post content. What I’m seeing:Virus Angles Not Going Viral
eReleases is getting lots of press releases about Coronavirus/COVID-19 and I’m not seeing it result in articles or placement for those clients. In fact, PR Newswire has decided it’s no longer taking these types of press releases. If you are thinking of newsjacking this trend, please don’t. Focus on what’s working instead.
Insert Feel-Good Feature Story
I have had about half a dozen reporters and bloggers reach out to me requesting what I characterize as “feel good” human-interest stories. One is a quite large tech blog and another is a national business/entrepreneur magazine.
With uncertain and negative global news, the media is looking to balance it with positive news. Now might be the time to share your startup story where you assembled packages in your mother-in-law’s garage. Now might be the time to share that your nursing home facility has published a sexual rights policy for residents.
What to Do? Pull People Together
Dig deep and think about what you might be able to feature about your company, service, product that contributes warmth and positivity to an audience that certainly needs it right now. You just might find your chances of media pickup stronger over the next few weeks than normal.
Be safe, be kind, and stay positive.
Yours,
Mickie Kennedy
