Underage-Drinking Prevention Page Debuts on MySpace!

MySpace isnt just for teens. According to online monitoring source Score Media Metrix, 16.6 million 35- to 54- year olds with children visited MySpace last month. More and more parents are logging on to the popular social networking website, and to capitalize on this audience, the newly launched Positive Parenting Connection page provides parents with important tips on how to talk with their children to help prevent underage drinking. Positive Parenting Connection includes material and links to expert-designed resources that help parents communicate with their children about making smart choices. A series of video vignettes illustrates how parents can use their positive parent power to steer their teens toward responsible decisions. Noted family therapist and an authority on adolescent behavior, Lonnie Carton, Ph.D., is featured in the vignettes and throughout the page and will be available to discuss Positive Parenting Connection and her role in helping develop it. Dr. Carton is an advisory panel member of Family Talk About Drinking, a program that encourages open and honest conversations between parents and children.
