The Turkish Cultural Center, New York presents during the 2008 New York Turkish Festival Films from the Contemporary Turkish Cinema at the Scandinavia House, 58 Park Avenue @ 38th Street New York City, 10016 AUGUST 19 Tuesday 7:00 PM CHILDREN OF SECRET (2002), 110 min. by Uemit Cin Gueven, an award winning production which gives a face to homeless children. 9:00 PM Reception August 20 Wednesday 7:00 PM POLICE (2007), 113 min., is the first film by Onur Unlu a police story in the film noir genre, depicting crime, family and love. 9:00 PM SEMUM (2008) by Hasan Karacadag constitutes in his words an attempt to create the model of a Turkish-Islamic horror film based on a true story of a woman living in Izmir. AUGUST 21 Thursday 7:00 PM TIMES AND WIND (2006), 111 min., Reha Erdem presents beautifully photographed images of the province, in part reflecting the longing for lost nature, yet also shows how the country side and its traditional norms can be like a prison in this coming of age story of children. 9:00 PM SIFIR DEDIGIMDE (2007), 92 min., by Gokhan Yorgancigil, is a popular movie with a m?lange of mystery, hypnotic states, and Turkish fairy tales.
