Reporting by Leah Dan’s Papers, a tradition in the Hamptons for a half century, celebrated its Golden Anniversary with a cocktail party and art show and over 400 friends and supporters on Saturday, August 21, 2010. The event was held at Tim Burke’s, located at 230 Elm Street in Southampton, New York. Dan’s Papers 50th Anniversary Celebration: 50 Years, 50 Artists,also featured special auction items in fitting with the theme of unique, rare works of art. One incredibly lucky auction winner got a one of a kind portrait by iconic 1960s artist Peter Max. Other auction items included autographed New York Knicks memorabilia, original cartoons and drawings by Dan Rattiner; original wearable art by Amy Zerner, and chic mens fashions by McKenzie Tribe. Hundreds of high end goodie-bags by Manhattans Madison & Mulholland Agency, featuring items from MD Solar, Watkins Lotion, Peninsula Sap Gifts and others were distributed to guests. Those looking for a big party from Dans Papers had live music at the main event, an open bar, fabulous food by Tim Burke and later in the evening an After Party downstairs featuring live music by local musicians. “50 Years 50 Artists” benefited three of the East Ends most valuable, unique assets: The East End Hospice; The Group for the East End; and Peconic Public Broadcasting 88.3FM. Billed as the most affordable benefit in the Hamptons, tickets were only $50 each. On view at the event was one-of-a- kind investment automobiles from Exotic Classic Cars. Bacardi Seven Tiki Spiced Rum was the exclusive rum poured at the bar and at the Thos. Moser VIP lounge. Hamptons Television VVH-TV filmed the event as it unfolded. The event was open to the public.
