LITTLE FALLS – Passaic Valley High School (PVHS) recently was host to a ceremony in honor of School Violence Awareness Week. The focal point of the ceremony, held on Oct. 20 by the school’s ERASE Club (Ending Racism and Sexism Everywhere), centered on the club’s purchase of a “peace pole,” that was dedicated to the high school as a sign of its diverse student body.
An 8 foot Peace Pole which bears the message, May Peace Prevail On Earth, in eight languages was dedicated during the 7th Annual Kaleidoscope Event in celebration of Vassar College International Education Week. This annual event is host by the Vassar International Student Association.
It was a lovely day outside St Bernard’s Church in Sharon where approximately 50 people gathered to dedicate a Peace Pole and pray for world peace. Fr. Francis led his parishioners in front of the Peace Pole and briefly spoke about his purpose of planting it as a reminder to think and pray for peace, particularly on this occasion of the 9-11 Tenth Anniversary.
Hancock Shaker Village held its Peace Conference on September 17th, 2011.Keynote speaker Congressman Dennis Kucinich joined 18 dynamic workshop leaders for a day of peace! The focus of the day was to explore “Peace” through the lens of the Individual, Relationships, Community and the World, and by doing so, raise awareness and consciousness about diverse peaceful practices, from the past and the present, that inspire people to live more peaceful lives.
The World Peace Prayer Society was invited to be an official partner of the first Dakhla International Gathering featuring youth and human security. Young people from 44 countries met in the city of Dakhla in southern Morocco to share their views and opinions on human security, economic prosperity and world peace.
On a sunny Wednesday afternoon the students at St. Genevieve School in Flourtown, gathered in the courtyard around the “Peace Pole.” With peace written in multiple languages on it, the Peace Pole serves as an inspirational sight for students, who stood around it singing patriotic songs and participating in a prayer service to celebrate the USA and bring its meaning to life.
While Hillary Clinton and other Defense Ministers conducted the annual “Security Conference” in a hotel in Munich, the Munich Peace Conference” took place in a very festive Munich Conference Hall. Dagmar Berkenberg of The World Peace Prayer Society, branch office in Munich Germany organized and manned an information booth along with other non-profit peace organization groups.
Dear friends of Shalom Educating for PeacePlease find attached a short description and photograph of our very meaningful Peace Pole Planting Ceremony in Rulindo District, Rwanda. This ceremony forms part of our long term involvement in the Gako Cell of Rulindo District where we are walking alongside that community as they work towards peace and reconciliation.

This one is at a shop on Montgomery Street (near the downtown Ojai main drag). When I saw one at the Farmer and the Cook (a really cool restaurant), I told the waitress about my friend (you-WPPS!) and asked her why I was seeing so many. She said, ‘oh, those are everywhere in Ojai’… go figure!
Hello Ms. Fumi-Johns Stewart and happy new year. I am writing at long last to send you information about the dedication of the two Peace Poles at U.S. Embassy Bucharest earlier this Fall. The day was an important milestone for the Embassy and for Romania – we are very honored to be the home of two Peace Poles.
This is a peace pole located on Main Street in Fishkill, NY. It is located in front of the Du Bois House, one of the earliest buildings in the village dating from approximately 1750 AD. Today, the DuBois House contains offices of the First Reformed Church and the Fishkill Food Pantry.
While in Morocco for a Peace Pole dedication ceremony and a World Peace Flag Ceremony in honor of the Dahkla International Gathering, Fumi Johns-Stewart, Executive Director of The World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) met so many peace loving people. Here are just a few of the many very special guests who were honored to accept stickers from Ms. Stewart bearing the peace message, May Peace Prevail On Earth.

A rare event took place in the UN General Assembly on February 7, 2012: religious and secular leaders from around the world gathered to affirm “Common Ground for the Common Good” to mark the close of the second annual World Interfaith Harmony Week (February 1-7).
