The White House Project’s 9th Annual EPIC Awards was held on April 7, 2011 at the IAC Headquarters in New York City. The White House Project celebrated the New Face of Leadership and honored the legacy of Marie C. Wilson and women’s leadership in the media and popular culture.The White House Project’s 9th Annual EPIC Awards honored Marie C. Wilson, Founder of The White House Project, for lifetime achievement and the films Fair Game, Pariah, Bhutto, Miss Representation and ESPN’s E: 60. The cocktail reception began at 6pm followed by dinner and the awards ceremony at 7pm and the after party at 10pm.
EPIC Awards Honorees included: Marie C. Wilson, Founder and President Emeritus The White House Project, with the Impact Award; Director Doug Limon and EVP John Schreiber, Participant Media, of Fair Game with the EPIC Award; Gabi WIlson, Singer and Musician, with the Barbie “I Can Be” Award; Ben Houser, Senior Producer of ESPN E: 60, with the EPIC Award; Duane Baughman, Director and Producer of Bhutto, with the EPIC Award; and Dee Rees, Writer and Producer of Pariah, with the Epic Award.
Academy Award Winner Geena Davis and Margaret Brennan presented and Broadway Empire star Aleksa Palladino hosted the EPIC Awards After Party. Singing sensation Gabi Wilson performed. Attendees included Fair Game Director Doug Liman, ESPN Senior Producer Ben Houser, Bhutto Director & Producer Duane Baughman and Robert Eckert, Mattel Chairman and EPIC Awards Co-Chair.
