You might be surprised. October 21-27 is National Collegiate cohol Awareness Week (NCAAW), and as part of the observance, nationally recognized, award-winning speaker Carolyn Cornelison, Ph.D., will be available to discuss the real truth about drinking on college campuses. She also will discuss College Talk: A Parent’s Guide on Talking to Your College-Bound Student About Drinking, ( http://www.collegetalkonline.com > ), and a recent survey from Harris Interactive on behalf of Anheuser-Busch and the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges (NASULGC) that found the majority of college students who celebrate college sporting events do so safely and responsibly. Through her experiences as a sorority sister and a student athlete, Cornelison has a personal perspective on college-drinking behaviors. In addition, as part of the program that she has delivered on hundreds of college campuses across the country, Cornelison challenges students to have the “Courage to Care” the courage to learn how to recognize the warning signs of out-of-control drinking and help their friends who may be developing unhealthy drinking habits. Her powerful program takes a realistic look at collegiate drinking. “The majority of students are doing the right thing,” Cornelison explains. “I try to give students the information they need to help them identify and assist that minority of their friends who may have problems with alcohol.” During NCAAW, parents are urged to remind their college students about the importance of making smart choices when it comes to drinking, including not drinking when theyre underage, and drinking responsibly if they’re of legal age and choose to drink. https://videos.whiteblox.com/gnb/secure/player.aspx?sid=35074
