Giants Defense Michael Strahan Teams With Jared For New $2 Million Program to Fight Childhood Obesity WHAT: Jared Fogle, the man famous for losing 245 pounds eating SUBWAY sandwiches celebrates 10 years keeping the weight off by hanging up his iconic fat pants. He’ll announce a new focus for the rest of his life fighting childhood obesity. WHO: NY Giants Defense Michael Strahan, a friend and supporter, will join Fogle in a new partnership with the Jared Foundation to raise $2 million to fund Jared’s 3-point plan for childhood obesity prevention. Strahan was first introduced to Jared on the set of a Subway commercial and since then the two have had a camaraderie and common interest in this cause. Jared’s parents and other supporters (including the first reporter to detail his weight loss story in a college newspaper) will also be on hand. WHY: Research indicates that 97 percent of dieters gain the weight back within five years. Jared plans to use his success, and his personal experience, to help children make lasting change.
