Leadership Dinner Honoring Newark Mayor Cory Booker, Michael Fascitelli and Whitney Tilson Honorees To Receive Leadership and Social Enterprise Awards New York, May 12, 2008 Harvard Business School Club of New York (HBSCNY) ( http://www.hbscny.org ) will bring together industry leaders from the New York City metro area at the 41st annual Leadership Dinner at Cipriani this evening to honor three distinguished regional leaders, Michael D. Fascitelli, Newark Mayor Cory Booker and Whitney Tilson. We are pleased to honor Michael Fascitelli, Mayor Booker and Whitney Tilson for the significant contributions each have made to both the business world and in our community, said Leonard Harlan, chairman of the dinner and the Castle Harlan Executive Committee. The ongoing effort to honor those who have made a difference has been an important part of the Harvard Business School Club of New York and we are delighted to continue in HBSCNY’s efforts of supporting local nonprofit organizations through the proceeds raised by our annual Leadership Dinner. HBSCNY members have a long track record of sharing their business expertise and real world experience with local nonprofits to help these organizations achieve success. The club aspires to connect alums with nonprofit board positions where they can provide pro-bono consulting and business advice. Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Tiki Barber and other prominent business leaders that have significantly contributed to community development will also be in attendance. Fascitelli, president and trustee of Vornado Realty Trust, one of the largest owners and managers of real estate in the U.S. , will receive HBSCNY’s Business Statesman of the Year Award and Mayor Booker is to receive the Leadership Award. These awards recognize individuals who have excelled in business as well as made major contributions to their communities. Additionally, Whitney Tilson, founder and managing partner of T2 Partners LLC and the Tilson Mutual Funds, will be presented with the John Whitehead Social Enterprise Award. HBSCNY’s annual Leadership Dinner is one of New York’s premiere business events, bringing together todays foremost industry leaders who have not only given their support to worthwhile philanthropic endeavors, but also offer their valuable expertise and guidance to their respective organizations, commented Bruce Marcus, president of HBSCNY. Proceeds from the 2007 Leadership Dinner resulted in HBSCNY awarding more than one million dollars to nonprofits that focus on education, including PENCIL, Village Academies , Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF), Studio in a School and Arts Connection. The event also provided a number of need-based scholarships to MBA students and two full scholarships to the Strategic Perspectives in Nonprofit Management program at Harvard Business School . This strategic perspectives program provides nonprofit leaders a forum to examine their goals and missions and helps realign them for better implementation and greater organizational success. About HBSCNY With more than 14,000 members, the Harvard Business School Club of New York (HBSCNY) is the largest Harvard Business School alumni club in the world. In addition to providing HBS students with fellowships and scholarships, the club maintains a dedication to community service by giving alumni opportunities to leverage their leadership and management skills for nonprofits and provide these organizations with pro bono consulting and business advice. The club also maintains over 50 active volunteers who are committed to assisting over a dozen nonprofit organizations. In addition, the club offers more than 60 events annually to further the education and social networking of its alumni base. Many dignitaries attended.
