There’s still excitement in the air regarding Obama’s historic election – and trepidation, as fear spreads that he may not be able or willing to make the degree of change expected by those who elected him. Many are expressing mixed feelings about Obama’s early choices for his team, wondering if the interests of the public will truly be served. There is much talk about organizing to put pressure on Obama to make sure he doesn’t cave in to the entrenched special interests in Washington DC. Some groups have been speaking out about the gigantic bailouts in the financial sector, the gay marriage issue, and mobilizing to support changes in energy, healthcare and other policies. But these activities are often reactive and fragmented – not part of a concerted proactive effort that raises awareness, shifts consciousness and engages the mainstream public in a movement for real change. Up until now there has been no visible unifying strategy that millions of individuals, groups and coalitions can easily plug into, that actually supports all their efforts. This is the gap We, The World has begun to fill, but we can only continue to do so with the support of all our allies (like you!) who share our values and goals. That’s why We, The World is seeking your support now to fully implement our Tipping Point Initiatives. They provide a collaborative and comprehensive way that many, if not all, major (and minor) movements for change can coordinate and promote their awareness and action campaigns locally and globally multiplying their impact to achieve real change! This is not just another grand but untested idea. We, The World has already begun engaging, connecting and informing the Cultural Creatives on a global scale (see Highlights and Successes). Fully implemented, our program of mass public education and mobilization will have these components: Communication, Coordination and Collaboration between existing major networks, global organizations, the green business community and smaller groups around the world Large-scale Public International Awareness & Action Campaign Events every 3 months that inspire, inform and involve local and global audiences in a specific critical issue each time such as: Climate Change – What We Can Do, What We Can Expect Our Money, Our World – You and the Global Economy Ending the Mass Extinction of Species – We’re All Endangered Peace in the 21st Century – An Imperative for Survival The Wisdom of Partnership Culture – Ending the Era of Winners and Losers Media in the Public Interest – for a World that Works for All Women and the Future of Humanity Transforming Government so it is Of, By, and For the People Green Energy For All Truth and Reconciliation – Healing the Wounds that Divide Us To get a taste of what this would look like, go to Vision at www.WeTheWorld.org/about-vision.htm Only with full participation of our allies can we fully implement these Initiatives.
