The American Friends of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer held its 2010 Benefit Gala on October 19, 2010, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City. A cocktail reception began at6:30pm followed by the dinner and program at7:30pm.The Gala Dinner and program were held in a beautifully decorated Grand Ballroomwith about 600 guests attending this year’s special event.
The 2010 Global Special Ambassadors Award was presented to Libby and Sam Edelman.The Sheba Humaniarian Award was presented to Mitra Damaghi. Gala Chairs were Arnold & Gail Cohen and Judah & Marie-Chantal Klausner.
Welcoming remarks were made by Helene Feldman, Chairman of the Board of the American Friends of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer. Stephanie Ohebshalom sang the National Anthem/Hatikvah and hamotzei was given by Nasser Damaghi. Additonal remarks were given by Zeev Rotstein, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, and Aviad Ohayon, Major General Uri Bar-Lev. Dress code at the Gala was black tie and tickets started at $500 per person.
TheSheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer was founded in 1948 with the state of Israel and established by David Ben-Gurion as the Israel Defense Forces medical facility. Proceeds from the American Friends of Sheba Medical Center Gala will support six major facilities: Acute Care Hospital, Rehabilitation Hospital, Women’s Hospital, The Edmond and Lily Safra Children’s Hospital, Medical Research Complex and Academic Campus.
