Thousands will gather for a New York City community-wide celebration that commemorates 63 years since Israels founding. Dor Chadash is collaberating with more than 100 sponsors and partner organizations to put on the largest event of its kind outside of Israel. The event, which will be held at New York Citys famous B.B. King Blues Club & Grill, is expected to host more than 1,500 people throughout the evening.
The event will begin with a ceremony for Israel’s Remembrance Day (Yom Ha’Zikaron) in remembrance of Israel’s fallen, and speakers will include Christine C. Quinn, Speaker of the New York City Council, and Ido Aharoni, Consul General of Israel. The evening will then transition into a celebration of Israel’s Independence Day (Yom Ha’Atzmaut) with the 17-piece big band Blue Nitrous and Israeli DJ Bonnen/Maydalleh.“This event allows us to unite the diverse Jewishcommunities in New York and to honor and celebrate Israel together as one incluisve, supportive community,” said Aya Shechter, Executive Director of Dor Chadash.
