By: Rochelle Zaltzman New York, July 24, 2007 – A very trendy and wonderful benefit was held tonight at the Myst/Retox on W.28th Street for the children of Ronald McDonald House of New York. Gimme Shelter was a Team Ronald McDonald event with a specific message “help us stamp out pediatric cancers in our lifetime”. Ronald McDonald House provides temporary housing for pediatric cancer patients and their families from all over the world. Here they find a strong supportive environment so necessary when their treatment takes place far away from their homes. With 12 major hospitals in New York City alone, the Ronald McDonald House of New York was especially created and designed to offer a comfortable, convenient place to live while children undergo therapy at the medical centers. It is the largest facility of its kind in the world which can accommodate 83 families and is filled to capacity almost every night. Often these families leave thier homes, their lives and their livelihoods to come to New York while their children undergo the tremendous emotional and physical challenges of fighting cancer. Team Ronald McDonald Chair, Jeff Campion said “We are looking to tap into the minds of the most innovative and creative thinkers that can bring ideas into fruition in fundraising, donations and successful events”. If you would like to contribute your time and brainpower to the Team, contact Ralph Vogel at mailto:rvogel@rmdh.org rvogel@rmdh.org . Volunteers are needed in a variety of realms requiring anywhere from a little time to a lot. All and any help is welcomed and appreciated at the Ronald McDonald House “where hope has a home”.
