Dear Friend,
My office would like to learn more about the impact that Alzheimer’s disease has on New Yorkers. That’s why I’ve partnered with the Alzheimer’s Association, New York City Chapter to survey caregivers about their experiences accessing services for themselves and their loved ones. If you have helped to care for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia in New York City, please take a few minutes to share your experience by completing this brief survey. If you know someone who has filled this role, I ask that you pass this email along.
Alzheimer’s disease has touched so many of our lives. Whether it’s a grandparent, a parent, a spouse or a friend, we almost all know someone who has suffered from Alzheimer’s or a related dementia. And with a rapidly aging population, the number of people living with Alzheimer’s disease in New York State is expected to rise by 30,000 over the next decade, reaching 350,000 by 2025. As a city, we must be prepared to respond to the needs of not only those with the disease, but those who care for them.
My hope is that by learning more about the needs of caregivers and those living with Alzheimer’s disease, we can develop better strategies to make sure our city is prepared for this growing public health challenge. By surveying those dealing with the disease every day, we can advance the conversation about Alzheimer’s care and preparedness in New York. I hope you’ll help me by participating.
Thank you,
Scott M. Stringer
