In the Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium at the United Nations, ten students from the New York High School for Environmental Studies presented “Penguins On Thin Ice”, a 45 minute Musical Revue about global climate change and sustainable development. Their inspiring performance on May 4th at the 15th UN Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-15) conference received a tremendous standing ovation from a very impressed audience. “Penguins On Thin Ice”, which was created by environmental educators Sharon Abreu and Michael Hurwicz, is intended for anyone who has a stake in the future of the earth. The show connects water, energy, climate change, economy, and environment with people’s lives, and their human potential to create positive change.
