What: An Evening Art Auction and Extraordinary Musical Performances to Benefit Worldwide Orphans Foundation
SCOPE Art Show and Artists Wanted are pleased to announce a spectacular evening of art and entertainment. A live auction featuring world-class artwork will benefit the Worldwide Orphans Foundation (WWO), an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of orphaned children around the world.
WWO Board Member and Artist Wanted Co-Ownder Matthew Blesso will open his home to host the auction featuring a selection of works donated by some of the hottest emerging artists from around the globe, including Hugo Fontela, Arturo Guerrero, Julio Barrionuevo and Baju Wijono. Brooklyn-based artist Andrew Ohanesian has also re-constructed his critically acclaimed bar installation, Mandies, an interactive space that became wildly popular at this year’s Scope art fair. Guests can experience the shock of stepping into a Brooklyn dive bar from the roof of a Noho penthouse and becoming both bartender and guest, at once.
The evening will include special musical performances by Grammy nominee cellist Dave Eggar with his trio DEORO. Other performers include Inma Heredia, Laura Wolfe, Nilko Andreas and Angelica de la Riva.
WWO Founder and CEO Dr. Jane Aronson will serve as the evening’s Special Guest, and will speak about WWO’s impactful work to address the unique needs of orphans. Dr. Aronson, an internationally-renown pediatrician, was recognized as one of Glamour magazine’s “Women of the Year” 2009 for her efforts to draw attention to the plight of the world’s orphans.
Works available for auction by Robert Whitman, Hugo Fontela, Arturo Guerrero, Osvaldo Herrera Graham, Tom Beale, Julio Barrionuevo, Pedro Cuni, Robert Irwin, Baju Wijono, John Bundelfinger, Ahmad Souresrafil, Loreto Alcoba, amongst others.
Where: 684 Broadway, Penthouse E, New York City. The inspiring event will be held at an award-winning sustainable penthouse loft which has been featured in over a dozen design magazines around the world.
RSVP: Tickets are $60 in advance and $80 at the door. For more information and tickets please visit www.wwo.org.
